Chicago Consulate General Visit - MCIA


Friday 10th January, Recently, the executive team of the McLean County India Association (MCIA) met with Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Consul General of the Consulate General of India, Chicago, in an effort to deepen ties between the two organizations. This is the first time that the two have met in the 35 year history of the MCIA. The cordial meeting was a chance for both to learn more about the other's organization, constituents, and opportunities within them.

The two parties discussed a few areas of focus for the partnership going forward. There was mutual agreement on the need to continue to educate on immigration issues and how individuals can best interact with the Consulate. Both expressed enthusiastic support of culture and the arts and discussed ways to bolster each other's efforts.



Teams have discussed on the importance and potential business opportunities in McLean County and supporting back home in a philanthropic approach. Planned a trip from the consular General to interact with local mayors and other dignitaries leaning towards amicable relationships and possible business ties to back home.

Dr. Sayeed was kind enough to record a message for the McLean county community for the upcoming 65th Republic Day celebration. The MCIA team extended an invitation to come to an event this year in the Bloomington-Normal area to which Dr. Sayeed graciously accepted in principle.

MCIA executive committee Ajay Kalavala, Uma Kallakuri, Shyam Lakshmin, Shreekanth Gaddad, Mandava V Rao, Siva Pasupuleti, Srinivas Bhamdipati and Hari Rebba particitipated in this meeting.
