KCR Seeks Land from Osmania University

A proposal disclosed by the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandra Shekar Rao to acquire land from Osmania University for housing project, triggered a sacthing criticism from the opposition parties as well as students.   Osmania University, spread across 1600 acres has been educating thousands of people every year. Taking everyone by surprise, Mr. Rao in his recent visit to a slum colony in parsigutta mooted his proposal to acquire 11 acres of land for the housing project.   Manne krishank, OU jac spokesperson, taunted severely against kcr’s volatile decisions rather making it a premier university. “We would not have respected kcr if we had known that they take away Osmania lands” he added. T-Speaker appears before Court

  Telangana speaker, Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chari on Monday appeared before the Civil Court in Warangal, in a case pertaining to violation of election code during 2014 elections.   When the election code was in effect, his follower Rajeshwar Rao was held by the police for carrying 20 lakhs violating norms of election commission. A case was filed against Rajeshwar Rao and Madhusudhana Chary arraying A1 and A2 respectively.   Court adjourned further hearings to 29th of May. -Srikar. Palwai

Congress fights for special status and also opposes it

  Once again, the Congress party seems to be started playing double game with the people of the AP state. The Congress leaders of the state are spearheading with agitations, deekshas, rallies, signature programs demanding special status to the AP state. They are strongly criticizing the ruling NDA government for not granting special status to the state and also criticizing the ruling TDP government for not pressurizing the NDA government for it. They even fought for it in the parliament. So, it is understood that the Congress party is wholeheartedly demanding special status to the AP state.   But, it’s MP from Telangana state, Gutta Sukhendar Reddy is strongly opposing granting of special status to the AP state. He argues that it will encourage the industrialists to shift their shops from Telangana state to the AP state to get the benefits of the special status. He also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggesting him not to grant special status to the AP state. He argues that Andhra Pradesh state condition is much better than the Telangana in all aspects except not having a capital city.   Gutta Sukhendar Reddy may justify his arguments as he belongs to the Telangana state, but he should also remember that he belongs to the Congress party that separates the state and promised the people of the AP state for special status and is also currently fighting for it. If, the Congress leaders of the AP state prefer to ignore his statement and letter to the Prime Minister, then their intentions and honesty behind their fight for the special status is also need to be suspected.

Is Pawan Kalyan gearing for hunger strike?

  Media is abuzz with the reports stating that Janasena President Pawan Kalyan is gearing for a dharna on May 23rd in support of farmers, who are not willing to handover their lands to the state government for capital city construction. But, there was no updates found in his Twitter account since last one month. Ever since, he not even made any statements in the media on this specific issue. So, it may be mere guess work made by some over enthusiastic persons in the media or his fans, who are anxiously waiting for his return to politics.   If, Pawan Kalyan jumps into action again, first he should come prepared to continue his fight till he achieves his goal otherwise a mere visit to capital zone will damage his reputation further. At the same time he also comes prepared to face the media questions about his silence all these days. Since, the AP government has finalized the Muhurtham for laying foundation stone for the capital city on June 6th at 6.28 am, it may appeal him not to create any fresh problems for it.   Pawan Kalyan, who once told the people that he has dropped from the elections race only because he doesn’t want to see an unstable government formed in the beleaguered state. If so, he may consider the AP government request if made any to not to create fresh problems to it that hampers the foundation stone laying function of the capital city.

Will consider if Modi invites me to join his cabinet: TRS MP Kavita

  TRS MP Kavita has made an interesting statement during a visit to her Nizamabad constituency yesterday. Replying to a media question, she said “If Prime Minister Narendra Modi invites me to join his cabinet, we will definitely consider it. However, there are no such proposals right now.”   But, her statement is strengthening the arguments of the opposition parties. They argue that Telangana Chief Minister KCR has softens his voice on Narendra Modi and his government only to see his daughter becomes union minister. That’s why he is implementing the programs declared by the Modi government. No surprise, if TRS joins the NDA alliance group in future,” arguing the opposition parties in the state.   However, so far, no one from the state BJP has reacted to her statement. But, her statement is clearly hinting that TRS wants to join hands with the BJP. But, first it has to make it clear whether it is prepared to snap ties with the MIM, which the BJP considers as an enemy. However, it would be suicidal for TRS to snap ties with the MIM just ahead of GHMC elections. At the same time, it will not be allowed to sail in two boats at a time.   If, the BJP is going to welcome the TRS to join the NDA alliance, first it should think about the adverse effect on its relations with the TDP. Hence, the BJP may take some time to decide whether to admit TRS MP Kavita into the Modi cabinet or not keeping in view of all these complications.

AP to set up bio waste-power plants in each district

  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the officials to make proposals and find suitable locations for setting up bio-waste-power plants one each in the 13 districts. It becomes a great challenge for the governments to deal with the hazardous waste that generates in large quantity from villages to metro cities.   Hence, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the private companies that came forward to set up these plants in the AP state also. Currently, this kind of waste-to-energy plants are operating successfully in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai and also in some other big cities in the country. Power will be generated from the solid and liquid waste in these plants. Bio-waste generated from cattle and other animals is also used for generating power in these recycling plants.   Chandrababu Naidu has asked the officials to ensure these bio-energy plants be commissioned within 18 months. If, this becomes reality, the state will become free from the polluting waste and will have some additional power generation also from it.

Delhi CM and Governor reject each other’s orders

  The appointment of Shakunthala Gamlin as additional principal secretary by Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung was promptly rejected by the Delhi Chief Minister and similarly the Governor has rejected the appointment of Rajendra Kumar (Services) made by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.   Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seriously reacted against Anindo Majumdar, the Principal Secretary (services) for issuing an order notifying the appointment of Shakunthala Gamlin as Principal Secretary, following the orders from Lt Governor. Majumdar was replaced with Rajendra Kumar, who is currently serving as Chief Minister’s principal secretary. He also had another shock when found his office was locked and was ordered to report to Chief Minister for posting.   But, Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung shoots a letter to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stating that the appointment of Rajendra Kumar is void and don’t have his permission for it. Hence, a cat fight between the Delhi Chief Minister and Lt. Governor has been continuing for the last four days over this issue. Arvind Kejriwal has sought President Pranab Mukharji’s appointment to complain against Lt. Governor, but didn’t get until now.

Farmers in Machilipatnam oppose land acquisition

  After Undavalli and Penumaka villages in the capital zone, farmers of Machilipatnam are strongly opposing the state government’s proposal for land acquisition for constructing a deep sea port. The district officials have identified 5, 277 acres of land Manginapudi, Tapasipudi, Gopuvanipalem, Karagraharam, Chilakalapudi, Bandar East Revenue villages in Machilipatnam mandal.   District Collector Babu has recently submitted a report to the state government, suggesting the requirement of nearly Rs. 700 crore for land acquisition including Rs. 100 crore for rehabilitation of 563 families living in these six villages. But, the Collector’s meeting with the farmers today for this purpose ends in a high tense situation as the farmers start shouting slogans and hurling chairs. They demand the government to construct the port in its lands available if any but not in their lands. They plainly told him that they don’t want to give their lands for constructing the sea port.   The state government is facing similar response from the farmers for its various projects proposed in some districts. Hence, it should avoid confrontation with the farmers otherwise it may provide a great opportunity to its rival parties.

Kejri slams Modi Government over CS Appointment

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday slammed Narendra Modi over a row related to the appointment of a top Delhi official, claiming her appointment was just meant to trip his rule in Delhi. Addressing thousands of auto-rickshaw drivers here, he touched upon the controversy involving Chief Secretary in- charge Shakuntala Gamlin but did not take her name. Gamlin’s appointment by Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has led to scathing attack from Arvind Kejriwal. Najeeb has refused back off, and the Central government has blamed kejriwal for character assassination of the official. Kejriwal also added “We opposed Gamlin’s appointment but the Narendra Modi- led BJP government, made her the acting chief secretary of Delhi conspiring to fail our government”. -Srikar. Palwai

Rahul Gandhi to visit AP in June last week

  The Congress party that was virtually vanished after the general elections is again popping-up in the AP state and is also desperately trying to emerge as strong as ever before with its fight for special status and other issues. PCC President Raghuveera Reddy has made an interesting announcement today. He said their vice-president Rahul Gandhi may visit the AP state before end of the next month. He said the Congress party will conduct rallies and dharnas all over the state on May 26th protesting the failures of the Modi Government. He strongly criticized the Modi government for failing to grant special status to the AP state even after one year completion. He said that his party will again conduct rallies and dharnas from June 2nd till June 8th to highlight the failures of Chandrababu Naidu’s government.   PCC President Raghuveera Reddy may believe that this is the only way to bring all his party leaders onto a common platform and can boost their moral spirits. At the same, this kind of fights will help the party to make itself come close to the people and make them ignore its mistakes. It will also help the Congress party to push its rivals TDP and the BJP into a corner. However, Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state may not be any helpful to it, instead it may worsen its situation because the people of the state are still fuming upon him as his mother Sonia Gandhi divides the state only for the sake of his political future but its idea was back fired.

Two new parties to be launched, while six are merging

  While six Janata parties in the northern India are still struggling to emerge as a single party under one flag and one agenda, former RJD leader and MP Rajesh Rajan alias Pappu Yadav has declared that he is going to launch a new political party titled as ‘Jankranthi Adhikar Morcha’ (JKAM) very soon. He expressed full confidence that his party will emerge as third alternative political party in the state. Details about party logo, flag and agenda will be announced soon. Once the party is launched, then it will take a decision whether to contest the upcoming assembly elections alone or to have an alliance with any party.   Former Bihar CM Jitanram Manjhi, who was shunted out from JD (U) and lost his CM Post to Nitish Kumar, is also gearing to launch a new political party very soon.   Since, Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled between November and December this year, all political leaders in the state are desperately trying to grab that opportunity. The merger of six Janata parties two months ago was also aimed to win the upcoming elections. But, they are unable to formulate their party even after two months, as there is disagreement over who will be the Chief Minister candidate of their party in the assembly elections.   Although, the Congress party doesn’t have any much expectations on these elections it is carefully watching the political situation before making its move. It is trying to strike a deal with the merged Janata parties or even prepared to join hands with either RJ (D) or with JD (U) parties. BJP is also very hopeful to win the assembly elections because of this prevailing political uncertainty in the state.

Special Status to AP likely before June: Sujana Chowdary

  Political parties in the Andhra Pradesh state may be assumed the special status issue as a powerful weapon to corner the ruling TDP and BJP governments rather than treating it as a mechanism that helps the state for a speedy industrial development. Hence, they are taking full advantage of this issue to strengthen and keep their parties intact, to win the hearts of the people and at the same time defame the TDP and BJP governments, by organizing dharnas and signature camps for it.   Obviously, it pushes the NDA government into defense position as it is unable to resolve the complications involved in this process. However, at the same time it is not admitting its inability to grant special status to the AP state, fearing it will further worsens its party situation in the state. According to Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, the 14th Financial Commission is not agreeing to grant special status to the AP state, but he said government is trying to convince it.   Union Minister Sujana Chowdary has revealed some interesting information about this issue. He said, “Most probably, we may get full clarity on special status before end of June. Our government is striving hard to fulfill its promise made to the AP state in this regard.”   Hence, it is to be assumed that the Modi government might have convinced the 14th Finance Commission on this issue. However, it is mandatory to have the consent of Chief Ministers of all states in the country to grant special status to any state including the AP state. Tamilnadu, Odisha Chief Ministers wrote letters to the Centre asking it not to grant special status to the state as it may adversely affect the industrial growth in their states. So, even if the 14th Finance Commission agrees, the Modi government has to convince Chief Ministers of all states for this.   Hence, it is to be understood that the Modi government has set itself a deadline to resolve this issue till June end. In case if it fails to resolve this problem, then it may be preparing to boldly admit the same so as to prevent further damage to the BJP in the state and to clear the confusion about this issue. So, people of the AP state, who patiently waited for one full year have to wait one more month for it.

Mining License of Dharmana’s Company cancelled

    Labour Minister Achchem Naidu said the state government has cancelled mining license of Virgin Rocks Pvt. Ltd Company that belongs to former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao’s son Dharmana Rammanohar Naidu. He said Chandrababu Naidu has promised to return Kannedhara hill area back to tribal families living there and it was done today.”   Virgin Rocks Company was given license for mining in 10 hectares of land in survey No.289 in Kannedhara hill area by the previous Congress government, despite objections from the opposition parties and the 97 tribal families living there.   Soon after, TDP comes into power in the AP State it constituted a sub-committee with ministers to study irregularities taken during last ten years of Congress ruling. It found that Kannedhara hill area is an assigned land and there are total 93 tribal families are living in the 3 villages doing some agriculture work in their 12.85 hectares of assigned lands. Virgin Rocks Company was given license for granite mining operations in their assigned lands with which they were displaced and lost their livelihood.   Hence, the AP government recently cancelled the No Objection Certificate given to the Company and now also cancels its license for mining in that particular area, following the sub-committee report. But, is this action enough to justify the poor tribal families, who badly suffered with the mining operations by Virgin Rocks?

A troubled and trouble maker CM Kejriwal

  Arvind Kejriwal proved to be very conflict Chief Minister of Delhi. Even in his second innings as Chief Minister, he is facing many problems and also stirring one problem or the other from the day one he takes charge of the government.   There was severe crisis situation in his Aam Admi Party as two of his senior leaders Prashnath Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav have raised banner against him opposing his dictator ship in the party. Immediately, they were shunted out from the party’s National Executive Body. Arvind Kejriwal has used his resignation letter to his party convener post as a weapon to push them out from the executive body. But still, the problem the problem persists and awaiting a solution.   Recently, Kejriwal had a setback in the Supreme Court over his decision to monitor the media reports. Now he becomes busy crossing swords with none other than Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung.   Lt. Governor has appointed Shakuntala Gamlin, a 1984-batch IAS officer serving as Chief Secretary, Power of Kejriwal’s government as the additional charge of Chief Secretary of Delhi as the present Chief Secretary KK Sharma went to US on some personal work. Hence, Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung gave the additional charge to the senior bureaucrat Shakuntala.   Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who came to know about it fumes upon the Lt. Governor for appointing Shakuntala as Chief Secretary without his knowledge or consent. Hence, he asked Shakuntala not to take charge of as Delhi Chef Secretary. Hence, she writes the Lt. Governor that she can’t take the additional charge as Chief Secretary of Delhi as she is facing allegations in BSES discoms issue.   Arvind Kejriwal argues that Lt. Governor has violated the constitution and GNCT of Delhi Act and the Transaction of Business Rules. But, the Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung also gave him a fitting reply stating that he is the representative of State Authority in Delhi under Article 239 AA of the Constitution of India and has the rights to appoint Chef Secretary. Perhaps, their cat fights may continue till the Chief Secretary KK Sharma returns from his US trip.

KCR Takes Charge over TDWC Board

  Gearing upon the government pet project, TS Government on Thursday released a GO inducting Chief Minister KCR as Chairman, his son KTR as vice-chairman for Telangana’s prestigious water grid project (TDWC).   Government also constituted committee comprising ten more directors from various departments of Telangana along with KCR and KTR. Prestigious water grid project intends to provide safe drinking water to all the households across the state, laying an underground pipeline of nearly 1000kms with 24 huge grids connecting all the villages in the state with a mammoth budget 27,000 crores.   Recently, Telangana water grid project also won HUDCO award for taking up such a great program which could serve crores of people. - Srikar. palwai

Is that why he don't want to contest in the elections?

  Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu declared that he or any of his family members will not contest in any upcoming elections. The timing of his statement appears to be strengthening the media reports about his chances to be made as vice-president of India. However, he or no one has acknowledged the media reports. But, his vast experience as a parliamentarian and minister makes him quite eligible to occupy that highest position, which would be a life time achievement for him.   However, both Telugu states badly need his services as Urban Minister, especially the AP state that is to be reconstructed from scratch. If he can extend his full co-operation and financial support to the AP and Telangana states in his capacity as Urban Minister, it would give him more satisfaction, name and fame than that he gets from occupying vice-president post. If he becomes vice-president of the country, then the AP state can’t any favors from his successor like before.

Governor to Inaugurate “Swacch Telanagna- Swacch Hyderabad”

  Governor ESL Narasimahan is going to launch a prestigious 1000 crore campaign “Swacch Telanagna- Swacch Hyderabad” today from HICC in Hyderabad at 3pm.   In a mission to make Hyderabad a clean city, Hyderabad would be divided in to 425 divisions each covers over a stretch of 1.5km, guided by about 6000 mentors includes governor, ministers, elected representatives, IAS and IPS officers.   After the formal inauguration, a power point presentation will be given to all the participants over the campaign. Thereafter all mentors will be visiting respective segments and interact with the residents.   It is also reported that the program will be in effect from tomorrow 7pm as all the teams steps down into work and will be carried till 20th of May. - Srikar.   Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has finalized the names of district in-charge ministers today. They will be accountable for all round development of their districts. However, they were given charge of other than their home districts. LS Prez Urged KCR To Shift Kalabharathi Elsewhere

  Loksatta party founder Jaya Prakash Narayana on thursday has taken a row over the government proposal to build “Kalabharathi Auditorium” at NTR grounds in Hyderabad.   He also added, “Save NTR Stadium and save Indira park has been gaining huge response from all corners of the state and all the opposition parties are against building Kalabharathi at NTR grounds”.   He also decried the way both government had dealt with RTC strike and urged not to take unilateral decisions.
