Will Centre help the AP state?

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s recent statement comes as a shocker to many states. He suggested that all the state governments do not expect too much from the Central government, instead plan to generate funds on their own, as the Centre also has several commitments to be fulfilled. His suggestion is very much disappointing to AP and Telangana state governments, especially to AP state government that has pinned all its hopes on the Centre.   The AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has been making rounds to New Delhi to get funds from the Centre for various projects and development activities that have been promised to the state in the AP Reorganization Bill-2014. Central government is also positively responding to his pleas, but nothing was granted during last six months. Even it is prolonging to accord special status to the state. If reports are to be believed, AP state is unlikely to get special status. CM Chandrababu Naidu is expecting huge funds from the Centre for construction of state capital city and for other development activities.   If, Centre fails to extend its help to the state they will be badly affected. Then it would become an acid test to CM Chandrababu Naidu implementing all his development plans without Centre’s assistance. However, central government can’t simply escape from the promises made by the previous government to the state in the AP Reorganization Bill-2014. So, CM Chandrababu may put efforts to find alternative sources to generate the funds, while pressurizing the central government. He seems to be prepared to face any kind of challenges and also start efforts to generate funds. He seeks the Japan government’s help to build the capital city and got its assurance.

CM Babu throws wrench in YSR Dharna plans?

YSR Congress party that has been trying to politicize the crop loans waiver issue and desperately trying to corner ruling TDP government has prepared to conduct statewide dharnas on this issue tomorrow. Its president Jagan Mohan Reddy will participate in maha-dharna to be conducted by party at Vizag. So, YSR party has been making elaborate arrangements to make these dharna programs a grand success. It is putting lot of efforts for mobilizing the people from the surrounding districts.   However, the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu simply throws wrench in its plans. He announced the modalities for the crop loans waiver and its schedule today that is hardly hours before YSR party’s dharnas.   Obviously, it left YSR party disgruntled as it can’t blame the CM or his government for failing to keep the elections promises. At the same time, it can’t call off its dharna programs at this moment. It may also find very difficult to mobilize the people, especially farmers to its dharnas as they may tilt towards the state government now for waiving off their crop loans. If there is no response to its dharnas, it will be very shameful to party and to its president Jagan Mohan Reddy.   Moreover, YSR party has to find some nice excuse to conduct its dharnas and a strong reason to strengthen its arguments on this particular issue. It has to change its strategy to make its dharnas grand success otherwise people will laugh at it for staging dharnas even when the state government is clearing the crop loans. It would be very difficult to chalk out some alternative idea and strategy at this moment.   Probably, YSR Congress party might have foreseen this embarrassing situation. So is it is claiming that it has forced the TDP government to make an official announcement on crop loans waiver by announcing its dharna plans.   But, if seen its present situation it is to be understood that it is crying foul for the timing of Chandrababu Naidu announcement. Since, it can’t go back at this stage it owes to continue its fight with the state government till it implements all its elections promises. Indeed it is a good excuse to defend itself, but not enough to stage dharnas tomorrow. It also has to ensure there is overwhelming response to its dharnas otherwise it's plans will backfires at it again as usually.

Harish rao makes fresh allegations against CBN

So far, Telangana ministers including its CM KCR has been blaming the previous governments and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu for their every problem. However, TDP and Congress parties argue that CM KCR and his ministers are blaming them only to hide their failures in handling the crisis situation.   AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has plainly said that his counterpart KCR has no foresight so is the state is reeling under severe power crisis. AP state was also facing similar crisis situation, before Chandrababu Naidu takes charge of the state. He not only resolved it within three months but also made elaborate arrangements to meet the power demand for next one year. So, evidently his opinion about CM KCR can be justified.   Now, Minister Harish rao has levied a fresh allegation on CM Chandrababu Naidu. He alleges that Chandrababu Naidu is conspiring to tarnish the brand image of Hyderabad. He is trying to block power and water to Telangana state. He is conspiring to obstruct Jurala-Palamuru lift irrigation projects proposed by Telangana government on Krishna River. He went to New Delhi only to pressurize the Centre to stop this project. He demands TDP Telangana leaders to react on this issue. Harish rao has asked them whether they will support Chandrababu Naidu or Telangana government on this project.   Harish rao seems to be talking over smart on this issue. He is blaming Chandrababu Naidu but, he did not acknowledge the point that his government has not obtained permission from Krishna River Board about this proposed project or not even bothered to intimate it. Chandrababu Naidu has raised the same point. If Telangana government has sought permission from the Krishna River Board, then AP government also might filed its objections with it. But, when Telangana government simply ignores the Board, then AP government has chosen appropriate channel to raise its objections.   But, Harish rao is projecting this matter in a different angle to blame the AP CM. Harish rao is trying add Telangana sentiment to this issue also, to project Telangana TDP leaders and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu as sinners in the view of Telangana people. But, he is conveniently hiding the fact that his government has not obtained or intimated the Krishna River Board about this proposed lift irrigation project.   Harish rao other allegation about tarnishing the brand image of Hyderabad is also can’t be justified. It is because of Chandrababu Naidu Hyderabad got this brand image. Then how he can think to destroy his own creation? Actually, he takes it as a challenge to build a city that is par with international standards to prove his mettle, but never thinks to tarnish the brand image of Hyderabad merely to prove himself. Moreover he and all his family members make Hyderabad their home. Then why should he try to tarnish the city brand image anyway.

TDP, YSR Parties lock horns over crop loans issue

Evidently, YSR Congress party has been trying to gain some political mileage out of crop loans waiver issue. Earlier, it has tried to attract farmers by staging dharnas at mandal headquarters, but quite disappointed to see the poor response from the farmers. So, next it tried to politicize land acquisition issue, but there also it is disappointed. Now, it is gearing-up to conducts statewide dharnas at district collectorate offices on December 5th. Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy will take part in maha-dharna to be conducted at Vizag collector’s office on the same day. YSR party is staging dharnas demanding the state government to implement its election promises, including crops loans waiver. So, ruling TDP and YSR party leaders are crossing swords on this issue.   Perni Nani, the official spokesperson of YSR party in a press meet held at party office in Hyderabad said, “Ruling TDP government appeared to be scared with our party president Jagan Mohan Reddy’s announcement of staging dharnas on December 5th. That is why CM Chandrababu Naidu is making an announcement on crop loans issue one day before to our dharnas. We will continue our fight on behalf of people till the state government implements all its elections promises.”   State Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara rao gave a fitting reply to YSR party allegations. He said “It appears YSR party doesn’t want the state government to waive off the crop loans as it may help TDP to emerge stronger in the state. Whether it likes or dislikes, our government is committed to implement all the elections promises including crop loans waiver. So, I suggest YSR party to conduct dharnas in Idupulapaya.”

YSR Party idea may back fire again?

YSR Congress party that is treating the AP government as its enemy because it is led by its political rival TDP and its president Chandrababu Naidu has been trying to corner it on different issues. However, in its desperate attempt to defame the government and the CM, it picks some issues like Hudhud relief funds and CM’s foreign visits and arguing on wrong point.   It alleges that CM Chandrababu Naidu has pockets Rs.400 crores given by the Centre for Hudhud relief works. But, even a common man knows that it is not possible at all, as the state government is accountable for what it received from the Centre. Next, YSR party is trying to politicize CM Chandrababu’s foreign tours.   It’s MLAs Sreekanth Reddy and Suresh alleges that CM and his ministers going to foreign countries only for his own and his MPs, Ministers’ business interests and not attract any investments to the state. While Sreekanth Reddy demands for an inquiry on CM’s foreign visits, Suresh demands a ‘White Paper’ on his foreign tours.   They both allege that CM Chandrababu Naidu is bluffing the people boasting about attracting thousands of crores of investments but bring nothing. MLA Suresh demands the government to reveal the MoUs signed by Japanese Companies and to tell how many crores of investment CM is bringing to the state with his foreign tours.   YSR party that is known for its immature and hasty decisions often back fired at it. However, it once again picks the wrong point to fight with the government. It is evident a person like CM of a state can misguide the people showing fake documents or can make false claims on signing of MoUs with foreign companies. He can’t put his reputation at stake by announcing Singapore and Japan is ready to help the state government in developing the Capital city and for setting-up power plant at Srikakulam, if they have not confirmed the same by signing MoUs with his government. So, YSR party may be trying to gain some political mileage temporarily with its arguments, but sooner or later it has to regret for its allegations when the MoUs start materializing.

Modi, Amit Shah’s next target West Bengal?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah both seem to be strategically spreading their party wings to one by one state. Because of their strategic moves, BJP comes into power in Congress ruled Maharashtra and Haryana states recently. They are now eyeing Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir states which are now in the polling process.   Modi, in his elections campaigning held in Jammu & Kashmir state said, “I came to your state two times in a short span of six months with several development proposals and once again came to you with the same proposals. I want to make an all-round development of the state which has been ignored for decades by previous governments. The huge funds being released by the Centre for the state development are going to some local politicians’ pockets. So, it is time to remove such corrupted politicians with a government that is assuring you all for development.”   While, Narendra Modi is concentrating on both these states, Amit Shah appears to be concentrating on West Bengal, which keeps BJP at bay until now. West Bengal government has denied permission to Amit Shah’s party rally in Kolkata, but after three consequent attempts, he was able to get permission from the State High Court permission to his rally held yesterday.   He strongly criticized state Chief Minister Mamata Benarji for failing to develop the state despite coming into power with overwhelming support from the people. He said that unless the state comes under Modi rule, people can’t expect any development from Mamata Benarji government. He asked why her government is trying to protect the accused in Sharada scam. He strongly condemned her government for letting Bangladesh people infiltrate into the state merely to increase her vote bank. He appealed the people to give his BJP a chance in the upcoming Municipal and state Assembly elections to prove itself.”   He made it clear that the BJP’s victory crusade would not be complete without winning the West Bengal Assembly poll. He said the countdown to the ruling Trinamool Congress’ collapse had begun. He said "Our electoral victories in Maharashtra, Haryana and the near future success in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir would have no meaning till we win Bengal. We will start with winning the Kolkata civic polls in May next and conclude the success story with the 2016 Assembly polls.”   So, Amit Shah has made it clear that their next target is West Bengal and so is he focusing full attention on the state and so is the ruling Trinamool Congress party is also worrying.

Many Twists in Maharashtra politics

Maharashtra politics are taking unexpected twists ever since elections were declared two months ago and till now. The ruling Congress and its long time alliance partner NCP have snapped ties and as a result, Congress government collapsed just before the elections. BJP and its alliance partner Shivsena, who have been staying away from for the last 15 years in the state also snapped ties at the same time.   Later, BJP emerges as single largest party with 123 seats but has a shortfall of 22 seats to form the government. Shivsena that comes close to it again after the elections and ready to join BJP government, once again distanced from it for admitting its MP Suresh Prabhu into BJP and offering Railways Ministry. So, when it prefers to sit in the opposition benches, quite unexpectedly, Sharad Pawar led NCP has comes to BJP government’s rescue. But, within a week Sharad Pawar asked his party men to be prepared to face midterm elections as he can’t assure how long he can extend his party support to BJP government.   Obviously, his statement rings alarm bells to BJP high command. It opens channels for back door meetings with its old ally Shiv Sena once again and reported to be successful in convincing it to join Mahendra Fadnavis led BJP government in Maharashtra state.   If so, this would be the latest, but probably last twist in the Maharashtra state politics, as BJP and Shiv Sena can’t afford to lose power for no reasons. According to Maharashtra CM Fadnavis, Shiv Sena Chief is quite positively responded to his invitation to join his government. If so, one can assume Maharashtra politics and the state government as well stabilized for next five years.

Why Chiranjeevi have objections on late NTR name?

People of Andhra may wonder why their Congress Rajyasabha MPs Chiranjeevi, KVP Ramachandra rao and JD Sheelam have joined their counterparts in the house who are protesting over airport naming issue. People couldn’t digest to see Chiranjeevi, who also hails from film industry is raising objections on naming of domestic terminal after late NTR.   Chiranjeevi has lost confidence of the people with his party defeat in the last elections and ever since his every political move helps only to cut down his structure in people’s view. He not only wipes off his own party in the last elections, but also wipes off his Congress party in the general elections. Apart from many other reasons, the negative feeling that he developed all these years with his moves has shown its adverse effects on Congress party’s electoral chances.   His younger brother Pawan Kalyan has publicly declares that he wants to wipe off the Congress party from the state. Though, Chiranjeevi has not made such promises, he also seems owed to wipe off the Congress party from the state. His and other two MPs protests in the house along with their counterparts, helps only to ruin the party condition back at home.   Though they are no way related to this issue, they join Telangana MPs protests on this issue probably following their high command orders. Congress high command that ruined the political lives of its many leaders in the AP state seems is going to ruin these three leaders’ political lives also. So, Congress high command and its leaders both seem to be determined to wind-up their party before next general elections.
