  • Free WiFi in Delhi from December

      Providing free Wifi across Delhi was Aam Aadmi Party's poll promise and they might be putting it into effect from this December in East Delhi. The Arvind Kejriwal government announced that over 500 locations across East Delhi will be made high-speed Wi-Fi zones by the end of this year allowing access to free internet till a pre-determined limit daily. The Wi-Fi project, which is set to be the largest such project in the world, will have 571 pre-identified locations and will have over 1,000 hotspot zones for people to use internet.

    UK style Referendum For Delhi: Kejriwal

      In a bid to get full statehood for the Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who seems to be quite impressed with the UK way of choosing to exit the European Union, has now proposed a Brexit-style referendum for Delhi. After the results of a historic voting were announced, Kejriwal tweeted: "After UK referendum, delhi will soon have a referendum on full statehood." Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been proposing such a referendum for the state in order to get more powers for the Delhi government.

    BCCI announces Mini IPL every Sept

      The IPL team will be in action twice a year from now on. BCCI has decided to host a shortened version of the IPL overseas. This will be held for the first time in September, and would follow every year. BCCI president Anurag Thakur said the final dates and format will be announced soon. It will be played in lesser number of matches and will not have a home and away concept. It will be conducted in a two-week window. Though USA and UAE are in contention for the possible venues for the matches, there was no official word on the same.

    Britain's PM resigns on its EU exit

      David Cameron, the Prime Minister of United Kingdom, has announced his his resignation, after UK chose to exit the European Union earlier today. Cameron who actively campaigned for the country to remain with the European Union had a shocking defeat by 52% to 48% despite London, Scotland and Northern Ireland opting to stay in. In his speech he said UK needs fresh leadership to take it in the new direction. UK will be leaving an international alliance it joined more than 40 years ago.

    Flipkart sourcing cheaper China products

      In a bid to make the product range on their site more attractive and also to have a wide variety on the site, Flipkart is now sourcing products which are low in cost from China. The company has tied up with Chinese bulk sellers, through whom sellers on Flipkart's platform can access and source products. It is looking to get products such as electronics, apparel and household items from China. According to the company, the aim of the latest project is to make sure they can import large numbers of products at one go and at attractive prices as well.

    India markets lose Rs.4L Cr as UK's EU exit

      The stock markets in India opened in red today owing to the decision of the Britain to exit European Union. Within minutes of trading starting today Rs 4 lakh crore was lost from the investors' wealth in Indian stock markets.Several Indian companies like Infosys, Tata motors, Tata Steel were all in red on the sensex listing. Sensex was still trading over 950 points down at just above 26,000-mark. Some stock values even dropped by 10 percent.

    Infosys employee stabbed to death

      Swathi who was employed with Infosys, was dropped off at the Nungambakkam Railway station in Chennai by her father, who was a retired central government employee. The 23 year old IT employee was on her way to her office and reached the station at 6.45 in the morning when a man stabbed her on her neck and mouth. According to on lookers, the unidentified man had a heated argument with the girl and suddenly took out a sickle and stabbed her to death, he left her in a pool of blood and ran away with her phone. Police are yet to ascertain the reason for this gruesome crime.

    Ganguly helped Kumble become Coach

      Former India captain Sourav Ganguly played a very crucial role in Anil Kumble becoming the Indian Cricket Coach. Ganguly ealier was to become the coach for the Indian team but Ravi Shastri made it to the position. Shastri would have in all likelihood won a second term had it not been for Ganguly's relentless campaigning for Kumble. Shastri and Ganguly were never great friends, but the gap between them widened when Shastri became India's coach. Though Kumble's name did not feature in the list of names shortlisted by the selecting committee, Ganguly made sure his name was included in it.

    AAP demands Arrest of Lt Governor of Delhi

      The ruling party of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party, has demanded that the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung step down immediately and be placed under arrest. This comes days after demanding the arrest of BJP's Maheish Girri over the murder of NDMC officer MM Khan. According to the AAP, there was enough evidence to link Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to the case.   The Lieutenant Governor's office, in a statement said, "Everyone understands the claims of the Aam Aadmi Party are frivolous and therefore the attempt to draw political mileage from this tragedy is sad."

    Sushma Swaraj reunites father &daughter

      External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has once again come to the rescue of a distraught Indian who was away from motherland. Swaraj recently helped a young girl have a happy Father's Day after responding to her distress call on Twitter. A 10th standard girl, Rukmini, had appealed to Sushma Swaraj on twitter after her father was jailed in Saudi Arabia following an accident.   Rukmini's father Shankarkumarsingh Jha ran into trouble in Saudi Arabia after "an accident which resulted into the death of a person there".But with the tremendous efforts from the MEA the father was let out from jail and the girl tweeted to the minister saying he was back with her.

    For not being made CEO,man earning 500Cr/pa quits

      The president and chief operating officer of Japan's SoftBank 48 year old Nikesh Arora has quit the telecom giant for not being made the CEO of the firm. Nikesh Arora received a pay package of about Rs 500 crore in the fiscal year ended March 31, making him the highest paid India-born executive, beating Microsoft's Satya Nadella and PepsiCo chief Indra Nooyi.

    Swamy supports Yogi who attacked Mother theresa

      MP Yogi Adityanath, who accused Mother Teresa of being part of a ‘conspiracy to Christianise India’ has got support from another prominent BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. Swamy cited a case where a man was caught and was on a trial for robbing people's hard earned pension funds and Mother Teresa wrote a letter asking not to prosecute him, as he has given her millions of dollars to further the cause of Christianity in India. The judge then responded that he was surprised that Mother Teresa was coming on his behalf, as he has robbed the pension of hard working people and in the name of Jesus Christ.

    Diamond merchants gift big to BSF jawans

      The Border Security Force (BSF) had a very noble gesture coming their way from the diamond merchant of Mumbai and Surat. They have donated 10,000 goggles, RO water purifiers besides ECG machines and a host of other items for use by our BSF jawans who guard the Indo-Pak border in scorching heat day in and day out.   Among the articles which were donated include 10,000 sunglasses worth Rs 650 each, ECG and X-Ray machines, medical laboratory equipment, an ambulance, 10 oxygen concentrators, 10 RO water plants of 500 litre capacity each and 7,000 mattresses.

    Plane lands at south pole to rescue

      In a very rare and challenging situation a plane has landed on the south pole after a 10 hour journey through the dark and frigid Antarctic winter. This is only the 3rd time in the station's 60-year history that anyone has flown to the pole during the six-month polar winter when temperatures can sink below minus-100 degrees and the only light comes from the moon and stars. The plane has landed to rescue one sick worker, amongst dozens who work at the Amundsen-Scott research station.

    UK Dating site for Muslims to get 2nd wife

      In a bizarre development, a Muslim entrepreneur from UK has created a dating website for men who are looking for a second wife and over 35,000 users have signed up to it. Azad, a british resident has started Secondwife.com, and he believes that with his website, called Secondwife.com, he’s actually promoting fidelity. He says that there are many women that are lonely and looking for partners and that his website will help them solve their loneliness.

    Mallya’s customised jet to be auctioned

      Vijay Mallya's private luxury jet is all set to be auctioned. The airbus which has the names of Mallya's children written on it, is a customised aircraft which was especially designed to suit the needs of the liquor baron. The service tax department is planning to recover around 6000 cr from the airlines. The staff of Kingfisher airlines has also urged that whatever amount is recovered by selling the aircraft it should be used to clear their dues.

    Ganguly to walk in tendulkar's footsteps

      Sourav Ganguly will soon be walking in the footsteps of his team mate Sachin Tendulkar, as he is writing his life story. Ganguly's maiden book, titled "A Century is Not Enough" will hit stores early next year. While talking about the life lessons he would be penning down in the book, Ganguly said, "It's all about how amazing life can be. Twenty years back I first played for the country. And then I had an opportunity to select a coach and I messed it up back then in 2005 (recommending Greg Chappell). And now I have been given the opportunity once again''.

    Aircel-Reliance Com merger soon

      Ever since March, Aircel and Reliance Communications have been in talks about a merger. And according to sources they will be announcing their merger very soon. Earlier last month, the Reliance Communications and Aircel had decided to extend by 30 days the discussion period for their possible merger. If the merger between the two takes place then it would lead to a combined entity holding of 19.3% of the total spectrum allocated to the industry which will be the highest in the country by an entity.

    Flipkart CEO buys Rs 32 crore home

      Binny Bansal, Flipkart co-founder and CEO, has bought a house in the heart of Bangalore for a whopping Rs. 32 Crores. He has purchased a 10,000-sq-ft property in Koramangala, an area which has one of the most expensive residential deals in the city of Bangalore. The place is not too far away from where Flipkart started with its first office nine years ago. He will be having Infosys co-founders Nandan Nilekani and Kris Gopalakrishnan as his high profile neighbors.
