  • Swamy: Sonia wanted Emergency imposed in 2011

    In yet another shocking attack on the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Subramanian Swamy, the BJP Rajya Sabha MP said, Sonia wanted to declare a state of Emergency in the country during 2011-12. He said, "Sonia was planning to declare another political Emergency in the country by whipping up cooked-up rumours on Hindutva terror groups. But the plan did not work since then Army chief VK Singh refused to toe her line and the efforts to create a scare about Hindutva terror did not work out." Swamy made these shocking allegations while speaking to journalists on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi on 25 June 1975 to 21 March 1977.

    PM:Disclose undisclosed income by Sept 30

    In the 21st edition of the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme today, Prime Minister Modi gave a stern warning to all the people with undisclosed income. He urged everyone to disclose their undisclosed income by September 30th this year, as this is the last chance to avoid any problems. He said, "In our big cities, when we see some of the houses that are worth crores, there seems to be some discord. Some people make well over 50 lakh rupees a year, but don't declare it. They do this to avoid paying their taxes". He also added by saying,"Those who do not disclose undisclosed income by September 30 will face difficulties. I assure that there will be confidentiality for all disclosures". And that there will be no leniency after that date.

    9Lakh Phd,engineers apply for constable position

    Just recently we have come across the news of thousands of graduates applying for 5 positions of a porter(coolie) in Maharashtra. And yet again we come across a similar scenario, this time it is for the position of Constable in Madhya Pradesh. Over 9 lakh job seekers, including those with PhD, post graduate and engineering degrees, have applied for the post of about 14,000 police constables in the state. According to the officials who conducted the exam there are about 9.24 lakh candidates who have applied for the exam out of which, 1.19 lakh are graduates, 14,562 are post graduates, 9,629 engineers and 12 with Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD). While the minimum qualification for the post is a class 12 examinations pass.

    Bihar's fake exam topper arrested

    Bihar's education department has been in news for all the wrongreasons. Recently there was big shock nation wide when a 12th class topper in Bihar, Ruby Rai, just could not speak anything about the subjects or the stream she studied in to top the exam. She had said that she learnt cooking in her stream which was actually Political science. She has been accused of cheating in the exam and was arrested by the Special Task Force investigating the case. Another student, who placed as Bihar's Science topper, was not able to answer elementary questions like the link between water and H20. A panel which was constituted for this has cancelled her exam result.

    83 smart city projects set for launch by Modi

    A smart city is all about the application of technology and big data to improve infrastructure and basic service provision for citizens. And As many as 83 projects will be launched under the Smart Cities Mission across the country Saturday. Prime Minister Modi will be launching the execution of smart city project for 20 cities selected in the first round in Pune. Modi will launch 14 projects under Pune's smart city plan at a programme to be presided over by Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. The NDA government launched the Smart Cities Mission a year ago with the promise of transforming 100 cities technology.

    Congress targets Modi on NSG failed attempt

    Opposition parties have come down heavily on the PM Modi for his failed attempt at securing a membership at the NSG. The congress as well as other opposition parties targeted Modi for not being able to secure a membership. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who is out of the country, hit out at Modi tweeting, "NSG: How to lose a negotiation by Narendra Modi #FailedModiDiplomacy". Arvind Kejriwal who never misses a chance to target Modi also tweeted about it saying, "PM Modi has completely failed on foreign policy front. He owes explanation on what did he do on his foreign jaunts?".

    J&K CM wins Anantnag by-polls by 12k votes

      Anantnag By-polls which were conducted because of the then CM Mufti Muhammad's death on Jan 7, have yielded a result in favour of the ruling party. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti today won the Anantnag by-polls by over 12,000 votes. She defeated Congress's Hilal Shah in the by-polls with a victory margin of 12,085 votes. The polls were also mandatory for her to enter the state legislature to continue as the Chief Minister. Mehbooba was congratulated by the Prime minister who tweeted, "Congratulations to J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti for the phenomenal victory in the Anantnag assembly by-election".

    Trump: Clinton received funding from India

      Presidential nominee Donald Trump, while Attacking his Democratic rival Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over donations to her family foundation, has alleged that she received funds from Indian political leaders and institutions to vote for the Indo-US civil nuclear deal. Clinton had dismissed these allegations several times in the past but still these featured in a a 35-page booklet released by the Trump campaign. The Trump campaign alleged that as early as 2008, Indian politician Amar Singh had donated between USD 1,000,001 and USD 5,000,000 to the Clinton Foundation. And also that the Confederation of Indian Industry has given USD 500,000 to USD 1 million to the foundation in 2008.

    BJP Swamy claims Kejriwal didn't get IIT rank

      Subramanian Swamy, BJP MP, while speaking at a press conference claimed that Arvind Kejriwal didn’t get a rank in IIT. Accusing Kejriwal of not taking the entrance exam, Swamy said that the chief minister may have possibly used his father's connections to get enrolled in the institute. "Last row of RTI column shows that Kejriwal has no rank (IIT). He probably came through other methods," the BJP leader said. Swamy has earlier filed an RTI for IIT-Kharagpur asking to provide the basis of Kejriwal's entry into B Tech programme and his All India Rank in any competitive exam. The information was not available, the institution said in the RIT reply.

    Crorepati's count at Wipro drops from 70 to 51

      Wipro is one of the biggest firms which gives its executives million dollar pay packages. According to its annual report while there were 70 crorepati last year, it has fallen down steeply from that number to 51 in the year ended March 2016. One of the reasons for the fall in numbers is due to some high-profile executive level departures which Wipro has seen happening recently. In a statement, Wipro said, "There has been a change in methodology with respect to inclusion of Restricted Stock Units as part of employee compensation for the current year and therefore the comparison of compensation with previous year is not on an apple to apple basis".

    Virat sings & dances to Rahman's tunes

      Virat Kohli who stole everyone's heart with his smashing performance on the cricket field is all set to steal everyone's heart yet again, but this time with an off field perforce with the mic. Virat who off late has been seen promoting the Premier Futsal League, has recorded the Futsal League anthem at music legend AR Rahman’s studio. The India Test captain was almost "pitch perfect" and "in tune" is what AR Rahman had to say about Kohli's singing. Kohli tweeted about the recording of the song with Rahman with a picture saying, "Throwback to the day at the genius's recording studio, Mr. @arrahman. Candid one from the session. Had lots of fun".

    Police takes prisoner out for lunch;Suspended

      A prisioner at Nashik Central Prison got a royal treatment when he was taken out for lunch by 3 policemen. They have taken him out for a food and drinks treat after having escorted him to a city court for a hearing. After the hearing got over, the police vehicle in which the prisoner had arrived at the court remained parked on the jail premises. They got into a private vehicle and allegedly went to consume alcohol and had lunch after which they returned to the prison in the police van around 7pm. When questioned about the delay, the policemen said the van had broken down and took time to be repaired. An inquiry was ordered in this matter. The prisoner has around 36 cases of murder, attempt to murder, theft, dacoity and body offences registered against him.

    Virat reveals he has 50 nicknames& 8 tattoos...

      Indian Test cricket captain Virat Kohli in a very interesting chit chat with his fans revealed a lot of interesting details about himself and his life in general. Virat who is also known as 'Cheeku' in the Indian cricketing circles revealed that he has almost 50-60 nicknames by which everyone at his home calls him. He said that his mother calls him "Veeru". Talking about his tattoos he said, "I have eight, because the tattoos on my left hand are not connected yet. But once everything is done, then it would become three".   He even spoke about his relationship with his father, who passed way while Virat was playing a Ranji Trophy match for Delhi. "My brother and my father used to be involved in my training. They would take me to my practice every day. My coach has been a big support. I have been practising with the same coach since I was eight," Kohli said.

    World stocks lose $2 Trillion As Britain exists EU

      Global stock markets including that of Europe, America and Asia lost around $2 trillion in value on Friday after Britain voted to leave the European Union. Pound dropped as much as 11% against the dollar after the vote, hitting 31-year lows, as investors hit the panic button. Stocks on Wall Street were down by around 3 percent. While in India, nearly Rs 1.8 lakh crore were lost as Dalal Street felt the effect of Brexit with Sensex plunging down by over 600 points. This was the worst performance in over four months at the stock market. Stocks like Tata Motors, Tata Steel, L&T and ICICI Bank crashed by up to 7.99%.

    After PT Usha,Dutee qualifies for 100m in Olympics

      After a along wait for over more than two decades, India will have a representation in the 100 meter event at the upcoming Rio Olympics. Dutee Chand the national 100m champion from Odisha clocked 11:30 seconds to win the 100m at an international event in Almaty and thereby qualifying for the Summer Games. Earlier in April she had a major setback to her olympic dreams as she missed the Olympics qualifying by 0.01 seconds at the 100 meter event of Federation Cup in New Delhi in April. But this time she clocked 11.30s in the 100m, beating the qualifying mark of 11.32 secs. Dutee who is one of the 4 children of a poor weaver family, will be the first one after PT Usha, who had qualified in the event back in 1980, to participate in the event.

    AAP MLA arrested for misbehaving with Women

      There is more trouble looming over the Aam Aadmi Party. The party's MLA and vice chairman of Delhi Jal Board Dinesh Mohaniya was arrested on Saturday on charges of allegedly misbehaving with a group of women who had come to him with a complaint regarding water crisis in their locality on Thursday. The MLA was dramatically arrested while he was in the middle of a press conference in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal immediately took to twitter reacting  about this incident and blamed PM Modi and said Modi had declared emergency in Delhi. He tweeted:   ''Dinesh mohaniya arrested from his press conference in front of all TV cameras. What msg does Modi want to give to everyone?'   "Modi declares emergency in Delhi. Arresting, raiding, terrorizing, filing false cases against all those whom Delhi elected".

    China,Switzerland let down India on NSG bid

      Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been trying to garner as much support as possiblefrom the member nations for India's NSG entry was earlier promised by the President of Switzerland that India had his country's full support. But has made a complete change of stand and along with China has raised doubts over India's membership. According to sources out of the 48 members of the NSG, 38 countries broadly backed India's entry into the group. Among the ones not supporting were Brazil, Austria and Ireland.

    Plea in SC to ban WhatsApp for security reasons

      A petition has been made in the Supreme Court that the messaging application WhatsApp be banned for security reasons. In the plea that the petitioner made and which would be heard by the Apex court on next Wednesday, says that, the ban must be made on the ground that the messaging platform's end-to-end encryption gives terrorists a means of communication that is impossible to intercept.   The petitioner said that even WhatsApp would fail to break through an individual's message to hand over the data to the government when needed as it does not have the decryption keys either.

    Kumble:Nervous as team mates interviewed me

      India's new coach Anil Kumble said that he went through a nerve racking interview for the Coach's selection. He was one of the 57 applicants for the role and has successfully beaten competition from Ravi Shastri who was a very close competitor. Kumble said that it was his first ever job interview and felt it was strange and nerve racking as his former team mates, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman were on the other side conducting his interview.
