HC allows APIEB to operate bank account

The high court bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt has passed interim orders on Thursday allowing the Andhra Pradesh state Board of Intermediate education (APIEB) to operate the joint bank account in the SBI at MJ Market branch. The APIEB approached the high court after the SBI freezed its account following a letter received from the Board of Intermediate education of Telangana (TIEB).   TIEB asked the SBI to freeze the joint bank account, based on the high court verdict given on Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Council (APHEC). The high court allows the Telangana government to claim ownership on the AP State Higher Education Council with reference to the AP Re-organization Act. Probably, it’s verdict gives a wrong message to the Telangana statement government which believes that it can apply the same yard stick to all the institutions and boards in Hyderabad. So it asked the SBI to freeze the joint account of APIEB few months ago.   The high court pulled on the TIEB for passing such orders taking advantage of its earlier verdict. It allows the APIEB to operate the bank account but asked it not to touch the funds left in the account at the time of its freezer. AP Advocate general Venugopal argued that AP and Telangana Boards have mutually agreed to share the assets and liabilities some time ago. Then only the APIEB has opened a separate bank account at Vijayawada to enable further transactions.   But, the Telangana advocate General Ramakrishna Reddy argues that APIEB has opened bank account at Vijayawada even before bifurcation of the state eyeing to transfer the funds from the joint account. So, TIBE has asked the SBI to freeze the joint account to prevent the AP taking away the funds by the APIEB.   However, high court bench strongly criticized the TIEB and SBI officials for freezing the joint bank account without taking consent from APIEB. High court posts this case to September 10th for further hearing and directed the bench to file implead petition in this case and also a counter affidavit before next hearing.

TS bags huge loan for setting up Yadadri Power Project

Telangana government bags huge loan from Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) for setting up 800 MW Yadadri Power Plant at Damaracharla in Nalgonda district. Rajeev Sharma, the Chairman and Managing director of the REC has handed over the cheque to Chief Minister KCR yesterday in the presence of State Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy, Chief Secretary of the statement government Rajeev Sharma, Arvind Kumar, the Chief Secretary of the Electricity department, Prabhakar Rao, the CMD of GenCo and few others.   Later speaking to the media, state chief secretary Rajeev Sharma said “This is first time REC is granting such a huge loan to any statement government in the country for setting up power plant. Earlier it has granted Rs. 4,312 crores loan for setting up power plant at Palwancha and again now grants this huge loan now. It granted after seeing our sincere efforts to overcome the power crisis. Power corporation also granted another Rs.4000 crores for setting up 800 MW power plant in the state. The REC also has reduced its interest rate from present 11.50 per cent to 11.00 per cent with which Rs. 500 crores burden reduced on the statement government.”   Telangana statement government’s efforts for getting un-interrupted power supply pilot project to the state are also become fruitful. Union Minister for Energy Piyush Goyal has formally agreed to grant this pilot project to the state very soon. If, all these things materialized then Telangana state may definitely come out of its power crisis.

Chandrababu begins ruling from Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been insisting his administration employees to shift from Hyderabad to Vijayawada since last many months. But they are not willing to shift to Vijayawada with such a short notice.   However, he and Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao both have shifted to Vijayawada and decide to operate the government from there from today itself. CM’s camp office was arranged in the Irrigation Department’s building located at Governorpeta in Vijayawada. CS office will be arranged at Collector’s office. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will conduct review meetings of the finance and rural development departments at his camp office in Vijayawada today. CM and CS will stay five days a week at Vijayawada.   Parakala Prabhakar, advisor of the state government has announced that cabinet meetings including the proposed one on August 17th will be held at Vijayawada only. However, shifting of thousands of employees, offices and files would be a major task for the state government. Finding accommodation for thousands of employees and offices would be another big task. The general administration department is making necessary arrangements for their shifting.   But, employees are telling the government that they can move only after providing accommodation at Vijayawada. Hence, still there is some uncertainty prevailing about their shifting to Vijayawada. The Chief Minister may wants to move to Vijayawada after realizing that their phones are tapped by the Telangana government. Otherwise, he would have stayed at Hyderabad for few more years until all the state government offices are constructed in the seed capital at Amravati.

Survey Report: TDP, BJP may win GHMC Elections

In a recent survey conducted in Hyderabad by leading English daily, it was found that TDP and BJP are still strong in the city and they may win majority of wards in the GHMC elections even after TRS clinched some TDP MLAs. TRS government postpones the GHMC elections taking excuse of reorganizing of the wards. It is planning to increase the present number of wards from 150 to 200.   It is learnt that TRS government is creating additional wards in the TRS strong hold areas so as to pocket additional wards. At the same time it is reportedly merging the wards in TDP, BJP strong hold areas so as its limit their chances of winning the GHMC Elections.   T-TDP leaders have recently complained to chief election officer Banwar Lal that the TRS government has issued notices to nearly 34 lakh voters for removing their names from the voters lists as they fails to link their voter cards with Aadhar cards or they are not possessing Aadhar cards.   However, despite all these efforts by the TRS government the recent survey reveals that TDP and BJP combo may pocket 90-100 wards, TRS and MIM alliance may get 70-85 wards and Congress may win only 20-30 wards out of 200 wards to be created. Some independent candidates also may clinch few wards in these elections, predicted in the survey report.   If this survey report is taken into consideration TRS has to do something to increase its tally in the elections. Probably, that’s why it is hugging YSR Congress party, which also can equally attract the Andhra people settled in Hyderabad. YSR Congress party that supports the TRS candidate in the MLC elections may prefer to extend its support to TRS party in the GHMC elections also. If so, both alliance groups may get nearly equal share of wards and hence their victory may be decided with a very narrow margin.

Jagan writes open letter to AP CM and Speaker

The main opposition leader in the AP assembly Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a open letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and to Speaker Dr. Kodela Shiva Prasad. In his letter, he asked them not to let the crooked political strategies take over the house proceedings. He said that his party wants to discuss about many issues related to people of the state and find solutions through a meaningful discussion in the house during the upcoming monsoon sessions. He asked them to tell the purpose of arranging a meeting of committee on general purposes and why it doesn’t met during Pushkar period. He also writes that his party would like to discuss on total 19 different issues during the upcoming sessions.   Jagan Mohan Reddy may wrote this open letter to the Speaker and the Chief Minister because he may expecting a fierce attacks from the ruling TDP members for his special interest shown in the vote for note case and in his alleged involvement for toppling their government. He and his media both have very desperately tried to convince that it is certain for Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to quit his post and go to jail in the vote for note case. They have tried to defame him and his government in this case and also on the tragedy takes place during first day of Pushkarams. Hence, he may be expecting a fierce and concentrated attacks on him during the upcoming Assembly sessions.    So, he appears to be asking the Chief Minister and the Speaker to ignore those things of the past and let the house concentrate on the issues related to the people. He may be trying to create an impression among the people that his party wants to discuss about their problems in the house but the ruling party may try to divert the discussion onto meaningless matters. But, he can’t expect the TDP MLAs to spare him for his role he played in the vote for note case.
