Lok Sabha approves amendment to Juvenile Act

  The brutal Nirbhaya gang rape in New Delhi in December 2013 triggered a debate in the country on whether to spare juveniles found guilty in such heinous crimes or not as one found guilty in this case has escaped with just 3 years juvenile custody. The previous UPA government lead by the Congress party let the debate continue but takes no action. But, the NDA government has made amendments to the Juvenile Act, bringing down the age limit of Juveniles from 18 to 16 years and get Lok Sabha approval for it today.   According to the amended act persons above 16 years age will be treated as majors and will be convicted with appropriate punishments like any majors. However, the NDA government has classified the amendment into three sections as minor offences, serious offences and heinous crimes, thus ensuring juveniles indulged in minor offences are not subjected serious punishments. Modi government may not find any problems in getting approval for the amended bill in Rajya Sabha also as all political parties welcomed the amendments.

Mobile and Sim Cards recovered from Ramalinga Raju!

  It is really shocking to know the Charlapalli Jail officials have recovered a cell phone and two sim cards from Ramalinga Raju, the former chairman of Satyam Computers. Generally, jail officials Recover such things from ordinary prisoners but never expects from prisoners of his range. But, Ramalinga Raju has made this silly mistake. The jail officials have recovered the phone and sim cards from him during a regular drive for the same in the Godavari Barracks of the jail on Wednesday. Ramalinga Raju was sentenced with seven years jail term and Rs. 25 crores fine in connection with the Satyam Computers scam.

Making Kiran as CM was a wrong decision: Rahul

  Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has reportedly regrets for recommending Kiran Kumar Reddy for Chief Minister of the united AP state after former CM K Rosaih stepped down. He reportedly stated that he made a mistake by recommending him.   Even if someone else was installed in the CM Chair, the scope for Congress party winning the general elections will remain unchanged as people of the AP state have decided to teach a good lesson to it for dividing the state. Telangana people also want to get rid of the Congress party as it ignores their sentiments and fights for the separate state.   Rahul Gandhi should admit that Congress party has made another fatal mistake by ignoring his warnings not to divide the state so hastily. Actually, Kiran Kumar alone has alerted his party high command and desperately tried to save it from this present miserable situation. But the party high command has not tonly ignored his warnings and also relies upon the selfish Congress leaders, who think about their own interests only.   Although, Kiran Kumar Reddy raised banner against the party’s decision, he proved to be very loyal to the party even after leaving the party, whereas many leaders either jumped out of the sinking Congress ship or still waiting for their turn to jump out of it.   Congress high command made another terrible mistake by allowing Kiran Kumar Reddy to continue as CM of the state, even when it is not relying upon him. Since, he takes a stand in favour of Samaikyandhra he highlights his arguments utilizing his position in the government. Hence, Congress high command needs to blame itself and not him or anyone else. Rahul Gandhi is doing the same now.

Salman Khan gets interim bail

  Bollywood top hero Salman Khan who was sentenced with five years jail term by the Mumbai sessions court on Wednesday narrowly escaped arrest as Mumbai high court has granted two days interim bail in the last minute. Salman Khan’s lawyer Harish Salve, who filed the bail petition in the high court, appealed the court to suspend the arrest of his client and grant regular bail. But, the court grants interim bail for two days only and suggests him to file a petition for regular bail on Friday. So, Salman gets a temporary relief for two days only.

Police disrupts Shivaji’s hunger strike

  Police disrupted actor Shivaji’s hunger strike on Wednesday morning and shifted him to hospital. His supporters have tried to resist the police but they managed to arrest him. Hence, the four-day-long indefinite hunger strike has come to an end today. But, Shivaji is said to be refusing to take fluids as he wants to continue his hunger strike till the Centre make an announcement on granting special status to the state. But, he may not resist any longer as his sugar and BP levels are coming down rapidly. But, people may ask him ‘what next?’   It is to be observed that any political party in the state including the Congress party that was fiercely fighting for the same cause has not joined his fight. Even, his own party leaders have stayed away from him. To be precise they simply disowned him. He also has not tried to garner support of any political party before kick starting his fight for special status.   Moreover, he spoke some unnecessary politics about BJP trying to split the ruling TDP and the YSR Congress party in the state. It sent a wrong a message to the people and makes them suspect someone or party is behind him. Hence, all his efforts wasted due to his political immaturity. Indeed, he managed to catch the media and public attention to his hunger strike, but fails to make any dent with it except damaging BJP and Pawan Kalyan’s images.

Salman Khan convicted with five years jail term

  Mumbai Sessions court judge DW Deshpande announced punishment to Bollywood actor Salman Khan. He awards five years jail term to Salman Khan. However, he dismissed the prosecution arguments for more compensation to be paid to the victims or their families by the actor. Judge Deshpande also ignored the pleas made by Salman Khan’s counsel for a lessor punishment keeping in view his services to the society. Mumbai police has made arrangements to shift him to Aurthar Road Jail. Since, he is convicted with five years jail term, he has to spend in the jail until his lawyers file his bail petition in the high court and till it takes up for hearing. Probably, it may take at least a week or two to take up his case.

Salman Khan is guilty! announces Court

  A Mumbai Sessions Court has announced its verdict on Bollywood top hero Salman Khan’s hit and run case nearly after 13 years of trial. The court declared that he is guilty in this case and deserve punishment. The court will announce his punishment after lunch break.   Salman Khan ran his car on to a foot path, while driving back to his home in Bandra on September 28th, 2002. Four persons sleeping on the foot path were injured and one person named Noorullah Mehboob Sharif was killed on the spot. A case was filed against Salman Khan in the year 2002 but his lawyers managed to prolong it until now.   Finally, the sessions’ court has found him guilty and going to announce punishment to him soon. The court has plainly stated that Salman Khan was found driving the car in a drunken stage and he also tried to mislead the court stating that he is not driving the car but it is his driver did the accident. The court plainly stated that it was a hit and run case and he need to be punished. The court will announce his punishment in a short while from now.   Salman Khan’s counsel has appealed the court to consider reducing the punishment keeping in view of his services offered to society and film industry. But, the prosecution lawyer argued that the punishment should be so intense that no one in the future will dare to drive the car in drunken stage. According to reports Salman may get jail term not less than three years under several sections. If he is convicted with less than 3 years jail term, then can secure bail immediately otherwise he will be sent to jail directly from the court and has to spend behind bars until his lawyers files bail petition in the high court and the court takes a decision on his application.   If he is sent to jail, Bollywood will have a big jolt as some producers have heavily invested on him. According to sources around Rs.240 crores were invested on his films and two films of him are in the shooting stage. Their fate will hangs in the air if he is sent to jail.

Will Shivaji continue his special fight?

  Actor Shivaji’s hunger strike for special status has reached 4th day today. His BP and Sugar levels are gradually dropping down. Hence, police may disrupt his hunger strike anytime as done in the earlier cases on different issues. If so, Shivaji will lose the media and public attention from the next day itself unless he continues his fight in another mode or start a fresh fight on some hottest issue like land acquisition in the capital zone.   However, he may not able to get the same focus of the media and public as he is getting now, if Pawan Kalyan launches a fight with the state government on this issue. Earlier, he owes to fight with the state government on behalf of the farmers, in case if the state government applies land acquisition act on them. Hence, Shivaji may stick to his special fight. But, the question is can he pressurize the Modi government to grant special status to the AP state? Perhaps, the answer may be a ‘No’, because there are several complications involved in it. So, Shivaji may wind up his special fight very shortly unless he has some political intentions.

Nara Lokesh US Trip begins with positive sign

  Nara Lokesh US tour begins with a positive note. He was given a grand and warm welcome by the Telugu people settled in California. During ‘meet and greet’ program arranged by the NRIs, Nara Lokesh explained about government policies for making Smart Village and Smart Wards. He appealed the NRI’s to adopt villages in the AP and Telangana states. The members of North America Telugu Association and the Telugu people settled in Los Angeles have come forward to adopt 126 villages in the AP state.   Nara Lokesh will tour in the US for 10 days to get investments to the AP state. During the first day of his US trip, he met Arun Kumar of US Department of Commerce and discussed with him about making AP state as manufacturing hub. Later, he had a meeting with smart glass manufacturer company representatives. He appealed them to set up their manufacturing unit in the AP state. Nara Lokesh attends event hosted by Blue Pointe Capital where 90 investors from IT and ITES and Electronic manufacturing have attended. Mr. Krishna Yarlagadda, President of Imagination is reportedly promised Lokesh to set up a Dev Center in Visakhapatnam.

Kadiyam Sri Hari meets his former boss Chandrababu

  Former TDP leader and present deputy CM of the Telangana state Kadiyam Sri Hari has met his former boss Chandrababu Naidu for the first time after he quits the party. Kadiyam was accompanied by TRS MLAs and MPs of Warangal district. The purpose of their visit is to seek the AP CM’s co-operation for supply of eucalyptus logs from the AP forest and horticulture departments to the Reyans Company in Warangal district that Telangana government plans to restart very soon. He appeals the AP CM to grant 50 percent subsidy for the same.   Andhra Pradesh forest and horticulture departments have been producing huge quantity of eucalyptus logs from their plantations across the AP state. Kadiyam Sri Hari said that AP Chief Minister has positively responds to his plea. However, none from the AP government or the TDP have acknowledged his statement. Kadiyam Sri Hari has strongly criticized Chandrababu Naidu and his party leaders after joins the TRS party. Then he may not have expected that one day he has to seek Chandrababu Naidu’s co-operation. This development should be treated as a good lesson for any politician to understand that they shouldn’t let their tongue slip against anyone unnecessarily.

They both will face same fate of Vijaya Shanthi

  Few days back, the high court has pronounced its judgment on the appointment of six parliamentary secretaries by the Telangana government. The court has declared that their appointments are un-constitutional and not valid. It asks the state government to cancel their appointments and take the consent of the court in future appointments. But, the Telangana government has not taken any final decision until now as it is reportedly planning to challenge the court verdict in the Supreme Court.   Hence, TDP MLA Revanth Reddy takes pains to meet Telangana state principal secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday to handover him the judgment copies of the high court. Revanth asked him to implement the court verdict or else he warned that it would be contempt of court.   Later speaking to the media he said “I am sure one day or the other day Tummala and Talasani will face the same fate of Vijaya Shanthi and Ale Narendra in the TRS party. Talasani, who is still continuing as TDP MLA has no right to criticize our party leadership. First he should let his resignation letter for the TDP MLA post approved by the Speaker and then speak anything else.   Revanth Reddy also revealed some interesting information about TRS minister T Harish Rao. He said Harish Rao has made arrangements to jump into the Congress party in 2009, but dropped the idea after Rajashekhar Reddy’s sudden demise. Revanth claims that TRS Minister Etela Rajendar is the eye witness for this development.”

TRS MPs disrupt Lok Sabha proceedings

  After staging a dharna at Gandhi statue in the parliament premises, TRS MPs have started shouting slogans in the Loksabha today demanding the Centre to divide the combined high court of AP and Telangana states.   TRS MP Jitendar Reddy speaking in the house said “Many people from the state are facing lot of problems in filing petitions in the combined high court. Hence the Centre should take initiative to divide the high court immediately.   Union Law Minister Sadananda Gouda responding on this issue told them that Centre is also willing to divide the combined high court. He assured them that he will take a decision on this issue once he receives the copies of the high court verdict on this issue.   But, the high court has plainly stated in its verdict that the combined high court can’t be divided or a separate high court for either AP or Telangana state can’t be set-up in the Hyderabad as there is no provision for such things mentioned in the AP Reorganization Bill. The high court has made it clear that a separate high court can’t be set up in Hyderabad as the existing one belongs to it only. Moreover, a separate high court can’t be formed in the Telangana state until the AP Government builds its own high court somewhere in the AP State.   So, unless the Central government agrees to amend the AP reorganization Bill to enable the Telangana government to shift its high court to a new premises, there is no meaning in TRS MP continuing their fight for it in the Parliament.

Shivaji hardens his voice on Modi and BJP

  Actor Shivaji hardened his voice as his fast unto death strike has reached its 3rd day today. He plainly blames his own party BJP and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not granting special status to the AP state. He plainly stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cheated the people of the AP state without fulfilling his elections’ promises.   Shivaji also blames his own party BJP. He said that the BJP is trying to weaken the TDP and the YSR Congress parties by splitting them in an attempt to strengthen itself in the state. He said people may not hug the BJP unless it fulfills all its promises made to them. He said that he will continue his fight till the Modi government grants special status to the state.   Hence, this would put an end to BJP leaders’ dilemma on how to handle Shivaji. BJP leaders are hesitant to take upon him as he picks a very sensitive issue that is largely supported by the people of the state. Hence, they are ignoring him although he is making irreversible damage to the party. But, Shivaji himself has provided a weapon to the BJP leaders today by targeting none other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. First, he may be expelled from the party for criticizing the party leadership and once he is out, then the BJP leaders may hit hardly at him. However, still he will have edge over them because of the issue that he is fighting.

Asaduddeen condemns giving Bharata Ratana to Vajpayee

  MIM President Asaduddeen Owaisi strongly objected giving Bharata Ratna Award to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Padma Vibhushan Award to former Union Minister Lal Krishna Advani.   Speaking at book launching function held at Hyderabad on Sunday he said “It is unfortunate to give prestigious Bharata Ratana Award to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who on December 5, 1992 has stated that his government will ‘level the ground’ referring about Babri Masjid demolition. His statement is still available in the You Tube. It is unfortunate to confer such a prestigious award to him, who encouraged communalism in the country.”   “Conferring Lal Krishna Advani with Padma Vibhushan Award is also very unfortunate. In fact, he spreads communalism all over the country with his Radha Yatra. People are aware that he is facing criminal charges for his role played in Babri Masjid demolition. Then how the government has conferred such a prestigious award to him?” asks Asaduddeen Owaisi.   BJP also strongly reacted to his objections. Union Minister Mukthar Abbas has stated “Vajpayee and Advani were honored for their services offered to the nation and its development. MIM leaders always see everything from communal angel only and so they are trying to project this also from communal angle. They do not like to honor the persons who served the nation but always speak about external forces like Obama Bin laden. Perhaps, they may appreciate if this award is given to Bin Laden.”   BJP official spokesperson Sudhanshu Dwivedhi reacting on Asaduddeen’s criticism, said “MIM leader may be trying to promote himself to national level politics. So, he encourages communalism to reach his goal.”

TDP reacts on Jagan’s allegations

  Andhra Pradesh Chief Whip Kalawa Srinivasulu has strongly reacted on Jagan’s allegations made against his government. He said “Prasada Reddy, who was killed by his rivals in Rapthadu Tahasildar office on 29th April, was actually a rowdy on whom three murder cases and several petty cases were filed by the police and Jagan claims him as his party leader! Why he is demanding for CBI probe on his murder when the police are investigating the case without any bias. Doesn’t he have faith in the state police?”   “Congress goondas have brutally killed 58 people in Ananthapur district alone during late YSR regime. No one in his government cares to respond to Parital Ravindra appeals for protection. Later, he was killed in the broad day light. Jagan also has encouraged his followers to eliminate his enemies in Ananthapur district and he is now complaining to the Governor on our government. We strongly condemn his allegations. Our government has never encouraged factionists. We handle them with firm hand,” said Srinivasulu.

Jagan seeks CBI probe on political murders

  YSR Congress Party President Jagan Mohan Reddy accompanied by his party MLAs have met Governor Narasimhan on Monday afternoon. They have submitted a memorandum requesting him to direct the state government to order a CBI probe into political murders taking place in the state, particularly the brutal murder of YSRCP leaders including Prasad Reddy’s.   In their memorandum submitted to the Governor, YSRCP urges him that unless the state-sponsored murders are checked and the culprits are identified and brought to book, TDP cadre can’t be controlled. Hence, a CBI investigation is to be ordered immediately to investigate into the political murders.” YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy has not maintained any hypocrisy to point out at CM Chandrababu Naidu and his government for failing to control Law and Order situation in the state.   Although, Governor has not made any commitments to them, the intensity of his complaints may create some negative atmosphere for the state government in the Raj Bhavan. Hence, TDP leaders have to react immediately on his matter, otherwise it may send a wrong message to the people also.

Only Rs.4 crore realized in TDP welfare fund

  Nara Lokesh, who is convener or TDP worker’s welfare fund, has submitted a report detailing about the funds collected and his activities during last 10 months. In his report, he mentioned that only Rs.4 crore was realized whereas Rs. 14 crores was promised by the TDP leaders of both states.   Out of 14,300 party workers sought party assistance for their children’s education and marriages, 9, 300 were provided assistance by the party from the welfare fund. As promised during membership drive, all the registered members of the party were provided accident insurance cover by the party. Nara Lokesh submits that he interacts with nearly 50, 000 party workers during last 10 months and noted down their valuable suggestions and complaints which were scrutinized and forwarded to the party high command for its consideration.   An amount of Rs.2 lakh compensation was paid to each family of the 54 party workers’, who died in the accidents or due to illness. Still, 480 families need to be provided financial assistance in the similar cases. TDP has been occasionally conducting job-melas in the TDP Trust Bhavan in which 465 youth got employment in different companies. The call-center arranged in the party head office has received total 86, 000 calls and TDP has been providing necessary assistance to the party workers, mentioned in the report submitted by Nara Lokesh.

Who should be blamed on special status issue?

  Chiranjeevi has strongly criticized Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not stressing the NDA government to grant special status to the AP state. He flays the CM for constructing capital city at the cost of farmers’ lives. He flays the CM for shelving Polavaram project and carrying away with his pet project Pattiseema. Chiranjeevi said Chandrababu Naidu is afraid to ask the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant special status to the state.   But, Chiranjeevi, who is pointing his finger at others, also needs to answer some questions. He is representing the AP state in the Rajya Sabha. But, he never raised this point in the parliament, because he is preoccupied with his 150 film preparations. Then how can he blame others for not stressing for special status anyway?   He accepts all the privileges of being a Rajya Sabha member, but never minds to attend the parliament sessions and raise the problems of the state. Then how can he blame others for not stressing for special status?   Earlier, he used to present himself as a very obedient Congress leader whenever he meets Sonia Gandhi. Even today, he doesn’t forget making bhajan of Rahul Gandhi in his speech, whereas Chandrababu Naidu never forgets to remind and stress Narendra Modi for funds and projects during his every visit to New Delhi. In fact he goes to New Delhi only for reminding and demanding the Centre to implement the promises made to the state.   Chiranjeevi had good contacts and impression with his party high command, but he used it for his self-benefits, while ignoring the interests of the state. Would he stressed his party high command to add the special status promise in the AP Reorganization Bill, he and his fellow congress men need not to sit for a deeksha today.   So, it is meaningless to blame the Chief Minister or the Prime Minister or anyone on this particular issue, instead Congress leaders should blame themselves for this problem. If they can’t people are there to blame them.

Dawood Ibrahim (never) offered to surrender?

  Former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has made a controversial statement about underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.   In an interview given to leading national English daily he reportedly said “Dawood contacted me to surrender himself months after 1993 Mumbai blasts, but he dropped the idea after CBI refuses to provide any protection to him. He further added that the government of the day also shelved plans for his arrest in the last minute.   His media statement creates havoc in the political and bureaucrats circles. After being strongly condemned for making baseless statements that would tarnish the reputation of the CBI and the intelligence agencies, Neeraj Kumar takes a ‘U’ turn on his statement and said “It was just an informal chat with a media friend. It was incorrect and unfortunate. Dawood has contacted me after Mumbai blasts, but not to surrender, but to give his defense in connection with Mumbai blasts. He has never offered to surrender himself to police nor did anyone stop him from surrendering.”   But, Neeraj Kumar’s statement made during a book release function in the last month was acknowledging what he said recently was genuine. Referring to Dawood as a certain gentleman whom CBI had planned to get at with the help of non-state actors but the move was scuttled by his political bosses.   Neeraj Kumar was a 1976 batch IPS officer, who retired as Delhi Police Chief in 2013. He worked in CBI for nine years before taking charge of Delhi Police.
