Delhi keeps the state Cong. on toes

Once again Delhi becomes the platform for the state Congress politics as its leaders are landing there to resolve different issues related to party and personal. PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana has returned from New Delhi after discussing several issues raised by him and decedents against chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy’s style of functioning. Then, Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva rao also hurriedly left for New Delhi yesterday for lobbying with party high command to get central minister post. He said being senior in the party he deserves a central minister post. He thought that this would be his last chance to enter into Dr.Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, as hardly 11 months are left for the general elections.   Next, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is also planning to visit New Delhi on 13th or 14th to discuss several serious issues like decedents, backing his stained ministers, reshuffle of his cabinet and conducting municipal elections etc. However, before going to New Delhi, he has been rigorously launching his welfare schemes to popularize himself among the people. Knowing that party new chief Rahul Gandhi is gathering information about individual’s contribution in party activities and feed back from grass root level party workers through his own network, Kiran is playing his cards wisely by trying to attract the support of the 2nd and 3rd rank cadres of the party.   He believes that while his efforts will send a positive feed back about him to party high command, at the same time it can also balance the decedents in the party. He may insist the party high command to give him a free hand to firmly deal with decedents and for a cabinet reshuffle to ensure a smooth run of his government for facing the general elections in the next year.   Hence, many crucial changes may takes place in the state congress and government after chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy’s visit to New Delhi.

Dadi likely to play key role in YSRCP

Dadi Veerabhadra rao, who recently joins YSR Congress party is likely to play key role in the party. Despite knowing that Konathala Ramakrishna and his followers are opposing his entry into party, Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to take him into state political affairs committee as member. He is also planning to make him as the in-charge of north coastal Andhra districts of the party.Obviously, it leaves Konathala and his followers in deep shock. They have openly expressed their discontent over Jagan’s decision with his representative Balineni Srinivas Reddy, who was sent to negotiate with them as a last ditch of efforts to settle the matter.   According to latest reports, Jagan Mohan Reddy rather prefers to loose Konathala than Dadi as he doesn’t want those leaders, who can’t obey his orders.   Although, Konathala is in touch with Congress leaders, he ruled out joining the party stating ‘I am not responsible, if the Congress leaders are predicting my joining into party.’ However,Konathala may not be able to work along with Dadi, with whom he has rivalry for the last three decades. More over, if Dadi is made in-charge of north coastal Andhra districts, then his role in the party will be reduced to his Anakapalli constituency only, which he don’t want to happen. Hence, the ball is Konathala court and it is his turn to spell his mind about what he and his followers want to do next in case Dadi is given charge of the party affairs.

Kadiyam Sri Hari in dilemma

TDP leader Kadiyam Sri Hari, who had a brawl with his collegue Motkupalli Narasimhulu over party’s failure in taking the full advatage of giving consent letter on Telangana, has met Chandrababu Naidu after he returns to office recently. However, neither Chandrababu nor he has revealed the details of their meeting. But, his absence in the crucial party meeting held on the next day indicates that the differences cropped-up between the two leaders were not sorted out by the party president Chandrababu and even it hints that he was deserted by the party.   As a result, Kadiyam has been holding series of meetings with his followers in his home town Hanmakonda in Warngal to have know their opinion about leaving the party. According to latest information, they have differed about his joining into TRS party. While, some of them expressed fears to work under arrogant KCR, majority of them have opined that it is better to hug TRS for their political future. They have reasoned that Telangana sentiment is going to dominate his influence and strengths in the region in the forthcoming elections, hence they suggest better to hug the TRS. But, only if KCR ensures him ticket from his home constituecncy Station Ghanpur, otherwise better to stick to TDP for timebeing.   However, Kadiyam has told the media that there is no importance for his meetings with followers as they are just routine meetings only. He too know that after working in TDP for so many years it is very difficult to work under a monarch person like KCR. At the same time hanging to TDP without due respect is also very difficult for him. Hence, he has to think about the only option BJP left for him, where there are no leaders of his calibre in his constituency. BJP is also happy to welcome him, if he shows any interest in it.

Karnataka CM Selection today

The victorious Congress party in Karnataka will go through a much painful exercise today of electing its Chief Minister for the state. This affair will be handled by AICC observers-Union Ministers Jitender Singh, AK Anthony, AICC general secretary in-charge of the state Madhusudhan Mestry, Screening committee chairman Luiznho Faleiro.   The front runners for the top post of the state are-senior leader Siddaramaiah and union minister Mallikarjuna Kharge. There are several others like KPCC president RV Deshpande, former working president of KPCC DK Shivakumar, senior leaders Shivashankarappa and TB Jayachandra. KPCC Chief G.Parameshwara, who was also among the front runners, was left behind in the race after he was defeated in the elections. Union minister SM.Krishna’s name was also surfaced in this list, but faded away in course of two days time.   Siddaramaiah, who is considered as the most favorable candidate for the CM post is facing stiff competition from Mallikarjuna Kharge. While, Karge followers are trying to eliminate Siddaramaiah by underlining his ‘outsider’ tag for taking plunge into Congress in year 2006, Siddaramaiah group plays sympathy card by announcing that this will be his leg of his political career, after which he wants to retire. The general belief is Siddaramaiah likely to be elected to CM post in today’s crucial meeting.   Congress has won a comfortable majority of 121 seats out of 224 members. Hence, there are no out side pressures on it in this top game.

CBI becomes parrot in cage: SC

The 3 member Supreme Court bench led by Justice RM Lodha, which took-up CBI director Ranjit Sinha’s 9page affidavit that details the interference and influence of political executives into its coal mine allotment’s report, has lashed at all the concerned officials, bureaucrats of the government, CBI and the law minister Ashwini Kumar.   The court has opined the CBI has becomes a parrot in the cage and it needs to be freed immediately. It directs the government to bring necessary amendments in the existing laws to free the CBI from government grip before 10th July, otherwise warns that the court itself will make the CBI free.   The court expressing its anguish on CBI has said “CBI is intended to investigate and not interact with political executives. It has committed a grave mistake by allowing the politicians and bureaucrats to share and alter its report. All of they have changed the central theme of the report as they wished. CBI director will be made responsible for this entire conspiracy. We order the CBI and the government to bring back the DIG Ravikantha Mishra back to CBI from IB and entrust this coal mines investigating job to him, who earlier has handled it. None from the government, including CBI lawyers are allowed to interfere in the CBI’s investigating. If, CBI needs some experts’ help, the court will provide assistance. If, the government fails to implement our orders, we will be obliged to constitute a special investigating team (SIT) to investigate the irregularities taken place in coal mines case.”   However, the court didn’t take any action against anyone, who has lied to it over sharing and tampering of the CBI report. This gives a great relief to the UPA government, which is standing on the receiving end all these days.
