  • Odisha: Rare 15inch cobra rescued from house

      A house in Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district had a special visitor visiting them. It was a rare 15-feet king cobra. The area's snake helpline sent a team to rescue it and one of the rescue-member, a snake charmer caught the snake and left in the near by forest. On an average the length of the Cobra is said to be 10 to 13 feet while that of a King Cobras can reach a length of 18 feet.

    Nation gears up to celebrate Yoga Day!

      Looks like the 2nd International Yoga Day would be marked with as much enthusiasm by the people as was the first one was celebrated. As many as 57 Union ministers will spread across the country on Tuesday for the 2nd International Yoga Day programmes.   Prime Minister Narendra Modi who observed the first International Yoga Day performing yoga with 36,000 people at the Delhi's historic Rajpath would this time be performing the ancient Indian physical exercise in Chandigarh. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has been assigned to lead a programme in Vijaywada.

    Violence over K'taka cabinet reshuffle

      The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah got a go ahead from the party high command Sonia Gandhi for a cabinet reshuffle and he has sacked 14 ministers and inducted 13 members into his Council of Ministry in the long awaited rejig. But the party workers and supporters of those sacked were not happy with the decision and turned voilent.   The workers blocked the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway getting the traffic to a standstill. They burnt effigies of Siddaramaiah and Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjuna M Kharge. Commercial complexes were also shut in some areas as the party workers had called for a bandh.

    Virat's emotional message on father's day

      Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli lost his father,Prem Kohli, while playing a match for Delhi in 2006. He attended the funeral and then came back to bail his team out of trouble the very next morning. This shows the character of Virat. He got emotional on world father's day and posted this touching message remembering his father, who ironically never got to see his son play for India.   ''How i wish i could wish you a very happy fathers day in person. The strongest person ive ever known. To all the fathers i just want to wish you a happy fathers day. #pillarsofstrength''

    Rahul goes abroad again to unknown location

      Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who has just celebrated his 46th bithday yesterday tweeted earlier today that he would be travelling abroad for a short trip, but did not mention any particular location or any details about the trip. This is what he tweeted:   ''Traveling out of the country for a few days on a short visit.Thanks again to all who met &wished me y'day,truly grateful for your affection!''

    Sheena Bora Murder:Driver made approver

      Shyamvar Rai, the former driver of key accused Indrani Mukerjea, has been made an approver by a special CBI court on Monday, in the 2012 sensational Sheena Bora murder case. Rai, had moved an application in the court last month seeking to become an approver and had sought pardon and the court has granted him a pardon. Sources in the CBI said that since pardon has been granted to Rai, he would now be a witness in the case and not an accused.

    China not against India's NSG entry:Sushma

      Addressing the media, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, while talking about India's efforts to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), she said that China was not opposing India’s entry, but was only talking about membership procedures. Foreign secretary S Jaishankar made an unscheduled visit to Beijing on June 16-17 to secure its support, ahead of the NSG plenary meeting in Seoul on June 24.

    30% rise in Muslim students in RSS schools

      According to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sources, the number of Muslim students studying in their schools in Uttar Pradesh, has risen after the Modi has come to power two years ago. About 7,000 Muslim students are studying in 1,200 RSS schools across the state. Which they say has incresed by 30% in the last two years. Officials say there are 4,672 boys and 2,218 girls from the community pursuing education up to class XII at these schools, just like other students and they have also recently recruited eight Muslim teachers.

    Delhi-Varanasi in 2hrs40mins in bullet train!

      A bullet train would be connecting the National Capital to Varanasi, covering a distance of 782 km in just two hours and 40 minutes. The Delhi-Varanasi stretch will pass through Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow and Sultanpur. This will be the second bullet train after the after the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. This project has been fast-tracked ahead of the UP polls next year.

    Bihar CM links yoga to Liquor ban

      June 21 would mark the International Yoga Day, and everyone around the world is talking about it. While talking about it Bihar CM has said, "Yoga is a natural treatment process but liquor addicts cannot perform it. Yoga would be irrelevant unless a ban is imposed on sale of liquor across the country." He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act in this regard.

      Indian Cricketer Ishant Sharma just got engaged to his lady love Pratima Singh, a basketball player, in Delhi! Joining the long list of cricketers to have recently exchanged rings with their lady loves. Team mate Rohit Sharma announced the news on twitter and also conveyed wishes to him.     Special Vij'wada-Sec train for AP employees

      In a good news for the Andhra Pradesh government employees, railways minister Suresh Prabhu, has announced a new train between Vijayawada and Guntur, with just one stop for 2 mins at Guntur station. It will be a super fast express. It will be flagged off by the minister in the presence of CM Chandra Babu Naidu from Secunderabad at 5.30 am on June 22.   It will have no stops. The train will reach Guntur at 10.08 am. After a two-minute stopover, it will reach Vijayawada at 11 am. In the return direction, train (No 12795) will set out from Vijayawada at 5.30 pm, reach Guntur at 6.20 pm and after a two-minute halt, will start at 6.22 pm and reach Secunderabad at 11.10 pm. It will run for 6 days except sundays.

    Controversy as Mallya & Indian envoy meet

      Vijay Mallya seems to have embarrassed the government yet again. He was seen at a book launch event in London where even the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Navtej Sarna was present. But it is being reported that the commissioner walked out of a book launch event when he realized that  Vijay Mallya was present there. Mallya was earlier declared a proclaimed offender.

    Father gets his 472 daughters married!!

      Mahesh Savani, a businessman from Ahmedabad is quite a special father, as he has 472 loving daughters. These women are actually girls who have lost their fathers. Savani has been their father figure and organized their weddings over the past few years. After the death of his brother, Savani, now 47, had to perform the 'kanyadan' for his two nieces, around 10 years ago. The event left him thinking about the many girls without fathers. And that is how he started this noble act.

    Pak to give Rs.300million to Taliban universities

      Pakistan has gone a step ahead in helping to spread the taliban culture yet again. It has now announced that it will be giving Rs 300 million to 'University of Jihad' for it to meet its annual expenditures. The university has top Afghan Taliban leaders among its alumni, including its former chief Mullah Omar.

      Delhi Police like the Federal Bureau of Investigation in US are seeking technology that can unlock Apple and other mobile devices.According to sources the police department is in touch with global firms for the supply of software and training that could help the cops extract data from iPhones. The cops also want help in extracting and decoding iCloud backup data.

    ISRO Scientist dad's special gift to blind son

      Dilip Bhatt, a senior scientist at Isro has created a visionary device for his son Nikunj, whose sight is impaired. Bhatt's 'Pragya,' considered to be the world's first drawing device for blind people, has won many national and international awards. Pragya, named after Bhatt's wife, is now prepared by blind people at various organisations across India and the device has been in use at schools located even in the most remote areas, as electricity isn't required for it.

    PM wishes Rahul Gandhi on his birthday!

    It is Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's 46th birthday today and he seems to be getting wishes from all quarters including from his arch rival, Prime Minister Modi. Modi earlier in the day has wished Rahul on his birthday. This is what he tweeted to him: "Birthday wishes to the Congress VP, Shri Rahul Gandhi. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life." To this Rahul Gandhi replied, "Thank you @narendramodi ji for your kind wishes!"

    Shock over Ex-Cricketer becoming NIFT chief!

    Former Indian cricketer Chetan Chauhan was appointed as the chairman of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. Chauhan, who is the vice-president of Delhi and District Cricket Association and a senior BCCI official, also runs a cricket academy and a printing press. He has also been a BJP MP twice.  This decision has not gone down too well with people as the NIFT Act 2006 specidies, the chairperson of the Board of Governors is expected to be an eminent "academician, scientist, technologist or professional" and apparently he does not match the qualification.
