Haribahu elected as Maharashtra Assembly Speaker

  Shivsena that declares war against its ally BJP in Maharashtra, finally seems has cooled down and withdraws its candidate Vijay Auti from the Assembly Speaker race. Congress party also dropped from the race. So, Haribahu Bagde of ruling BJP government has been unanimously elected as Maharashtra Assembly Speaker. So, BJP expects, Shivsena will support its government when it seeks vote of confidence of the house a short while from now.   Whether, Shivsena extends its support to Devendra Fadnavis lead BJP government or not, it has the backing of Congress ally NCP and ten independents. So, BJP can easily cross the magic figure of 144 out of 287 members in the house. If, Shivsena sticks to its stand, then one day or the other day it many of its MLAs jump into ruling BJP government to enjoy the power. So, Shivsena may not afford to sit in the opposition benches. It may extend its support to BJP and join its government.

BJP to have a smooth sail with NCP support

  BJP and Shivsena snapped their ties just before Maharashtra Assembly elections for failing to strike a deal on seat sharing issues. Congress and its alliance partner NCP also snapped ties for the same reasons. Their over confidence to make a clean sweep in the elections and greediness to rule the state on their own are the actual reasons that spoils their relations.   However, Shivsena joined hands with BJP after it was defeated in the elections and BJP emerges as single largest party with 121 MLAs. But, Shivsena is raged to see BJP admitting its party MP Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu into party after taking him into Modi’s cabinet in the recent cabinet expansion. So, Shivsena president Uddhav Takre has declared that his party will not support the Devendra Fadnavis lead BJP government, if it accepts NCP support. Probably, his idea behind that condition is to have a chance to twist BJP’s hand whenever he wants. But, BJP also can understand his idea. So, it declares that it will welcome all political parties, except Congress to support it’s government. A MLA from NCP told the media that his party has issued a one-line whip to all its 41 legislatures to vote in support of Devendra Fadnavis government.   BJP has total 121 legislatures out of 287 members in the Assembly. It needs 23 MLAs support to cross the majority mark of 144. Maharashtra CM Fadnavis claims that his party has 10 Independent MLAs and 8 other MLAs support, besides 41 MLAs support from NCP. So, BJP need not to worry about Shivsena threats or conditions.   So, it is like a slap on Shivsena Chief’s face. So, he declared that his party prefers to sit in the opposition benches rather than supporting BJP government. He also issued a whip to his 63 MLAs to be present in the house, when the Fadnavis government seeks a trust vote today afternoon. He also fielded his party candidate for the Speaker post in the Assembly. Besides Shivsena, BJP and Congress also field their candidates for the same.

Girls’ presence in the library is distraction?

  Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) vice-chancellor Zameer Uddin Shah, who believes that girls presence in the library is a distraction, has turned down their plea to have access into college library. He is reported to be said there will be ‘more boys’ if girls are there. His decision not only makes the students fume, but also the Union Minister for Human Resources Smrithi Irani.   She condemned his decision and described it as an insult to daughters. She demands him an explanation for his decision. She also hints to take appropriate action, if he is found wrong. However, AMU officials have denied her charges. They argue that limited number of students only can be allowed into the library due to due to ‘space constraint.’   Since, the matter is related to Muslim University and the Minister belongs to BJP lead NDA government, there are chances for this case to take new unexpected twists on the religion lines.

T-JAC issues ‘good certificate’ to TRS government

  As predicted, Telangana JAC steering committee that meets at Hyderabad two days back, issued a ‘good certificate’ to TRS government. T-JAC Chairman Prof. Kodandaram, speaking to media said “We have thoroughly discussed about various issues in our meeting. Finally, we came to a conclusion that Telangana government performance is good and we believe that it is honestly putting efforts for the rapid development of the state and to resolve the problems in its capacity.”   Actually, T-JAC start losing its shine after TRs comes into power in the state. It completely lost its voice as CM KCR has successfully projected himself as the lone savior of Telangana state and the people. He not even allows it to take part in reconstruction of the state. So, it has no job to do and becomes politically unemployed. So, it decides to play safe game with KCR, instead of crossing swords by singing chorus with opposition parties against his government.

BC population in Telangana 51.08 percent: Etela

  Many of the decision taken during last five months ruling by TRS government draws sharp criticism from the people and the opposition parties. One such decision was conducting a statewide survey. Today, when a discussion on the survey begins in the Assembly, opposition parties have grilled the government with their questions and criticism for its survey in the state.   MIM MLA Akbaruddeen speaking on this issue demands the government to table its survey report in the Assembly, so as members of the house can understand what is the purpose of the survey and whether it is fulfilled or not. He made it clear that if the state government shows any discrimination towards Andhra people living in the state, MIM will strongly oppose it. He said all the welfare schemes should be given to them also without any discrimination. He also opposed the ‘nativity’ issue chipped by it in its survey forms. He said all the students should be treated alike with equal respect.   TDP MLA Revanth Reddy has asked “Government shows interest to gather information about the properties and income of the people, but simply ignores to ask the people how much amount loans they have. Although, the government virtually made all the people home arrest for 12 hours for this purpose, it couldn’t complete 100 percent survey. Thousands of people like me all over the state patiently wait for the enumerators, but no one has turned up. If so, how the government claims its survey is a grand successful. If it is true then what is it doing with the survey reports?”   BJP MLA Dr. Lakshman asked, “When the government is telling that the survey is successful, then why is it again asking the people to register their names for welfare schemes and ration cards?"   Finance Minister Etela Rajendar replying to their questions said that survey has nothing to do with ration cards or welfare schemes. He said that it is to gather the information about citizen’s social, financial, educational and employment status. He said it is unfortunate to see opposition parties are criticizing our survey, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciates for our efforts. Etela disclosing the statistics of the survey said there are 51.08 percent BCs, 21.5 percent OCs, 17.5 percent SCs, 14.46 percent minorities, 9.91 person STs in the total population of the state.

Is Jagan eyeing Kapu community?

   It is no more remained a big secret that now all political parties are eyeing Kapu community to strengthen themselves. Congress and YSR Congress have simply ignored taking them for granted due to known reasons. However, Chandrababu has rolled red carpet to them and won the elections with their support. Then only, other parties have realized their mistake. BJP that is planning to strengthen its base in the state is now trying to attract them into party. It appears, YSR Congress is also has developed interest in them.   Miryala Venkat rao, the founder-president of Kapunadu died yesterday with illness. Venkat rao’s efforts to bring his community people under one umbrella have helped them to emerge as a strong political force in the state. So, he has high regards among his community people and leaders.   CM Chandrababu Naidu and many political leaders in the state have conveyed their condolence to his family members by phone, but Jagan prefers to convey the same personally. So, he is rushed to Vizag today to express his sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Land acquisition also becomes political issue

  These days, the land acquisition for the capital city has become a major issue for both ruling and opposition parties. While, ruling TDP government is trying to handle this matter smoothly, opposition parties are trying to grab this opportunity to trouble it by provoking the farmers. Congress and YSR Congress also have formed committees for this purpose. Congress committee lead by its senior leader C Ramachandraiah had a bitter experience during its recent visit in Toolluru Mandal.   Although, farmers in some villages in the ear marked area are willing to handover their lands to government, they sharply criticized it for not sending the ministers’ sub-committee to know their opinions, demands and to clear their doubts on land-pooling procedure. Then only, government seems woke-up and the sub-committee starts visiting the ear marked villages. They took the feedback from the farmers on various issues related to land acquisition and also educated the farmers about the land pooling procedure and the benefits they will get out of it. Farmers also seem to be satisfied with their assurances and coming forward offering their lands to the government.   Next, YSR Congress committee to be led by its convener Dharmana Prasada rao is also visiting the villages on 13 and 14th of this month. So, it also may try to provoke the farmers and tap their anger against the government. But after seeing the Congress committee’s bitter experience, YCP committee may move precautious to avoid repeat of same experience.   However, it is quite unfortunate to see the opposition parties are politicizing this issue, even when they are aware that state capital is to build very urgently in wake of the growing conflicts between AP and Telangana states. Moreover, it will be very difficult to run the government sitting outside the state.

KCR helps to unite the opposition parties

  Telangana CM KCR’s idea of transferring the entire blame onto previous governments for the present power and water crisis seems backfires at him. Although, all his ministers simply followed his line on these issues, it only helps the opposition parties to unite against his government in the Assembly. TDP and Congress party members both not only condemned his allegations but also criticize him for taking excuse on those grounds to hide his failure to handle the situation.   Congress floor leader K Janareddy replying to him said, “People have elected your party setting aside us. So, if you do believe that our government has done any mistakes, you should try to rectify them instead of trying to transfer blame on us to hide your failures. You are in power now. It doesn’t mean that you can project the opposition parties as villains in the public view. It is not fair at all.”   “You should remember that you also did agitations and questioned our Congress government, when you are in the opposition side. But, you are finding fault with us for questioning your government. What is wrong if we conduct bus yatras? I suggest you to first change your attitude towards us. It is not wise to defame each other like this. We should be role models to our future generations and not as villains,” said Janareddy.   TDP leader Revanth Reddy also spits fire on the TRS government in the Assembly for defending itself by blaming the previous governments. He argued, “The Southern Load Dispatch Center in Bengaluru reveals that Telangana government has consumed more power than AP, only because it is our due share. Even though, we got 247 million units additional power as our share, it is pity you are still blaming Chandrababu Naidu and his government. You are blaming previous governments only to conceal your failures. You shouldn’t blame others for your failures.”

Is KCR admitting his failure with his assurances?

  Telangana CM KCR strongly defending his government on power crisis has once again tried to transfer the blame onto previous governments, while highlighting the efforts put by his government to address the crisis. He squarely blames the AP government and it’s Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for the present crisis.   He alleges that Chandrababu is encouraging his party leaders of Telangana to go on bus yatras to highlight the crisis, while obstructing power supply from the state to Telangana. He said Chandrababu seems has determined to ruin the agriculture in Telangana so as Telangana government will be blamed for it.   He said, however his government will not allow him to do so. He explained various measures like revamping and recharging of water tanks (ponds) across the state, signing MoUs with Chhattisgarh government for 1000mw power supply, efforts to construction of power generation plants and laying power transmission lines etc. taken by his government so far. He assured within next two years there would be visible improvement in irrigation and power situation.   CM KCR may not said that there are not enough transmission lines between the two states that can carry 1000mw power supply, but Chhattisgarh CM Dr. Raman Singh’s appeal to Centre for the same reveals that KCR is just trying to take excuse with his MoU. If, KCR could convince the Centre for laying transmission lines, then also it may take not less than three to four years, otherwise it may take decades to complete. So, it seems KCR seeking excuse showing the MoU to escape from the opposition parties.   Telangana government might be making a right move with its Water-Grid proposals, but it also need water to recharge. Unless, there is sufficient rain fall and sufficient water in the rivers, these link-ponds can’t be recharged. However, it is wide idea to repair the abandoned water ponds well ahead of rainy season. Whether, he admits or not, one thing is clear that his government can’t resolve the power and irrigation water issues right now. He is saying the same in other words by with his assurances.

Is Jagan trying to join hands with BJP?

  Those, who closely watch YSR Congress party President Jagan Mohan Reddy’s political moves, whenever he lands at New Delhi, suspect him although he gives them nice reasons for it. Many believes that he is trying to strike a chord with ruling NDA government to bail himself out of the cases filed against him by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate.   CPI leader Narayana reacting on his recent visit to New Delhi said “He appears to be trying to join hands with BJP and TDP is trying to obstruct him.”   It is evident Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party has been always cautious while speaking about BJP, NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In fact, he never let his tongue slip on them nor allowed his party leaders to speak against them.   Modi has promised Rs.1000 crore to Hudhud cyclone hit North Coastal AP districts. However, when his NDA government has not released that amount Jagan and his party leaders aim their guns at CM Chandrababu Naidu and his government, instead of NDA government. Jagan blames TDP government fails get the funds released from the Centre, but not criticized the NDA government for not releasing the funds.   He also wisely grabs this opportunity to land at New Delhi to meet Finance and Home Ministers to give representation to them. This itself is underlining a point that he has other intentions than what he is saying to public. So, there is nothing surprise if leaders like Narayana suspects his honesty and argues that it is just an excuse to meet the NDA ministers, particularly Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Bandaru gets Labour and Sujana Science and Technology

  Bandaru Dattatreya, who sworn in as Minister of State, (Independent charge) was given Labour and Employment portfolio and Sujana Chowdary (MoS) gets Science and Technology and Earth Sciences portfolios.   As predicted Manohar Parrikar was given Defense portfolio that was under Finance Minister Arun Jaitley until now. But, Arun Jaitley was now given additional charge of Information and Broadcasting. Earlier, it was held by Prakash Jawadekar. He was shifted to Forests and Environment ministry. Shivasena MP, who quits party and joins BJP after taking oath yesterday, was given Railways taking it from Sadananda Gouda.   President Pranab Mukharji has administered the swearing-in-ceremony of 21 new ministers newly inducted into Narendra Modi cabinet held at Durbar Hall in Rashtrapathi Bhavan today. Out of them, four are given cabinet rank, three Ministers of State with independent charge and 14 Ministers of State. Will those two communities hug BJP in AP?

  Earlier, the political leaders in the AP are used to treat BJP as untouchable and even used to criticize for its communal element. So, hardly makes its presence felt in the state. However, there was some improvement in its situation after TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu strikes a poll deal with it. There was some visible improvement in its situation after its alliance partner TDP and its NDA government comes into power in the state and at Centre. However, it remains inactive all these months, but slowly gaining momentum.   Many Congress leaders in the state, who foresees a blink future for their party, are deserting it one by one. BJP is rolling red carpet to the Congress and YSR Congress party leaders, wisely utilizing the ‘no vacancy’ board hanging on the TDP office gate. Since, Kamma and BCs dominates in the TDP, BJP puts a warm welcome board to Reddy and Kapu communities. Perhaps, it may begin with Kiran Kumar Reddy very soon. Konathala Ramakrishna is also reported to be on his way to BJP. If it could attract them both into party, they may make the job easy for it. They may inspire the other leaders of their communities to follow their path.   Obviously, it will throw a big challenge to ruling TDP, Congress and YSR Congress parties. BJP also may pull the CBI strings to trouble Jagan Mohan Reddy so as to encourage YSR Congress leaders to join it. Perhaps, it may not hasty to try this idea right now. If, BJP could dissolve YSR Congress party, then obviously Reddy community may get attracted to it as there is no alternative political platform for them.   It will leave another deadly blow on the beleaguered Congress party. Although, there are about two dozens of strong leaders in the party, none of them are crow pullers. So, they badly need a leader, who can give a facelift to the party. Otherwise, Congress may confine to opposition benches for at least one or two decades.   If, BJP could strengthen itself before next general elections, it may think over about continuing its alliance with TDP also. That is what Kambampati Hari babu, the state BJP President is diplomatically saying in other words. He says there is political vacuum in the state and BJP will fill it.

Chandrababu's Bengaluru visit alerts K’ CM Siddaramaiah

  AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s recent whirlwind tour in Bengaluru to attract the IT companies to the state, alerted the Karnataka government and its CM Siddaramaiah. But, he takes three days’ time to realize the damage.   Reacting on his tour, “I am against any competition between the states as it leads to an unhealthy competition. Chandrababu Naidu tried to lure our IT Companies to take away from us to his newly carved state, only because he is enjoying the support of central government. It is not good for anyone. So, I have asked the Centre not to encourage such practices as it is harmful to both states,” said CM Siddaramaiah.   CM Siddaramaiah has cleared three long pending IT projects worth Rs.1000 crore in one go on Thursday. Later, he convened a meeting with his IT and BT department top officials and told them he will not spare anyone, if delay takes place in clearing the files and resolving the problems reported by IT Companies in the city. He gave them three months’ time to provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities asked by the IT Companies that are waiting to set up their shops in and around the city. He warned the officials not to let down the high-tech brand image of Bengaluru city.

Lakshmikanth is new CM of Goa

  Lakshmikanth Parsekar, who until served as health minister in Manohar Parrikar cabinet in Goa state government has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Goa. BJP central observer Rajiv Prathap Rudy announced that BJP Parliamentary Board has approved his appointment.   Deputy CM Francis D’ Souza, revolts against the party demanding CM Post to self, but has was cooled down by the party central observer Rudy. He supported Lakshmikanth’s name proposed by the outgoing CM Manohar Parrikar.   Lakshmikanth has been serving BJP from a longtime and never changed the party. He was holding health, rural development and Panchayitiraj portfolios in Parrikar’s cabinet and now becomes the Chief Minister of Goa.   Parrikar has resigned to his post today thus enabling Lakshmikanth’s appointment to his post. Parrikar will take oath as Union Minister in Modi’s cabinet tomorrow. He is likely to be given Defense portfolio.  

CBN announces the boundaries of AP new Capital

  AP CM Chandrababu Naidu announced the boundary lines of the proposed new capital city today. The boundaries are: 10 km area from Guntur auto Nagar along Prakasham barrage on east side. Boruvani Palem to Prakasham Barrage on west side. 16 km area from auto Nagar up to 75 km ring road on south.   He asked the farmers not to lend their ears to opposition parties’ suggestions. He promised them that he will take care of their present and future also. He said there was a time when farmer’s children used to go abroad for higher studies and big jobs. But, now the world is coming to their own place and will provide lots of opportunities.   "I termed it as 'Praja Rajadhani' because it will be built by the people and for the people. Once, the capital construction is completed, every person in the state will feel proud for his contribution in it. All the people will be prod to relate themselves with it," said Chandrababu Niadu.   Criticizing the opposition parties for creating hurdles in the land acquisition process, "Opposition parties appears to be not interested to let the government build the capital for the state. It is quite unfortunate to see them provoking the farmers against the government on this issue. They should remember that people of the state are watching them. Instead of prvoking the farmers, if they come to us with constructive suggestions, I will welcome them and people also will appreciate them. I once again request the opposition parties to co-operate with the state government for building a world class capital city for the state. 

Congress forms Shadow Committees

  Congress party that fails to get the ‘Leader of the Opposition’ status in the Parliament has found a very nice idea to overcome its ego problem. It has formed seven ‘shadow committees’ comprising party seniors and former ministers to closely monitor the decisions taken by the NDA Ministers. Each shadow committee is assigned to specific ministry and task. Later, the party will discuss on their reports and chalk out an action plan on how to attack the NDA government in the winter sessions of the parliament that begins from November 24th.   The committee comprising Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad a K Antony, M Veerappa Moily, Anand Sharma and Oscar Fernandes will look into the issues related to Finance, Commerce, and Foreign Affairs. Digvijay Singh and others will look after agriculture, drinking water and sanitation etc. Moily, Scindia and Sharma will take care of Information and Broadcasting Ministries. Other ministries are also allocated to rest of the committees.   It looks like handling cabinet minister posts and not committees. Perhaps, it may make the Congress leaders happy for a while and may give them a feel of retaining their ministries, even though they are not in the power. Indeed, it is great idea. The beleaguered AP and Telangana state Congress leaders also can try this idea to cool their heels.

Another setback for T-Government in HC

  Telangana government is often facing embarrassing situations in the courts on various issues for many times. Earlier, High Court has dismissed the G.O. issued by his government on imposing fresh tax on vehicles entering into the state from AP. Next, the court asks his government whether it believes the Telangana state is in India or outside the country or not, when it tries to differentiate between students of Andhra and Telangana states on fees reimbursement issue.   Once again today the High Court has dismissed its latest G.O. that abolishes all the market yard committees in the state. However, the court gives 10 days’ time to appeal against its verdict in the Supreme Court. A court often finding fault with government’s decisions and dismissing the G.Os issued by it is taking place only in Telangana state and nowhere else in the country. Perhaps, Telangana CM KCR has to be blamed for it, as his hasty decisions lead to such situation. Perhaps, this is time for it to think over about its peculiar style of functioning.

Should T-Government thankful to Sonia Gandhi?

  Senior Congress leader K Janareddy says that Telangana state government should be thankful to Sonia Gandhi for carving separate state by putting her own party at stake. He criticized the TRS party chief KCR for encouraging Congress leaders to join his TRS party. However, he admitted that even Congress party also has encouraged other party leaders to join it during late YSR regime, but he reminds the members of the house that he opposed such ideas.   Hence, he asked the ruling TRS party chief to refrain from such odd practices to weaken the other parties. He said Sonia Gandhi has carved the state even while facing tremendous pressures. So, TRS government should be grateful to her always, said K Janareddy. Janareddy seems is still trying to claim the credit of carving separate state to his party and to his party president Sonia Gandhi, ignoring TRS party’s decade long struggle for it. He also proved that he couldn’t leave his old habit of making bhajan of Sonia Gandhi.
