  • Research - Digital Media causing ADHD

It’s no surprise to find out our kids and youth getting addicted to the mobile phones. They keep spending a lot of time with mobiles even before their bed. The scientists are warning that being addicted to information to gadgets would decrease the brain’s grey matter density, which is responsible for cognition and emotional control. “With the growing popularity of smartphones, one is addicted to the Internet — Facebook, Twitter and other such applications. These can cause insomnia, fragmented sleep, etc. Smartphone is a cause for parent-child conflict in 30% of the cases,” says K.K. Agarwal of Indian Medical Association. A recent research has also revealed that frequent digital media use is causing the risk of having symptoms of ADHD by about 10%. ADHD would lead to symptoms such as hyperactivity and inattentiveness. Beware!

App that helped Imran to win

These are the days of digital revolution and one can achieve miracles if he can utilise the digital weapons properly. The US elections have proved that even elections can be won by using digital platform. Here is the latest example. The Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of Imran Khan has created an app called Constituency Management System. This has helped almost 50 million supporters of PTI to easily locate their polling booths. While the government system has drastically failed to show respective polling booths, Imran’s APP has helped the supporters to easily reach the booths. This is the reason why many constituencies were won win a very tight margin... which could have otherwise slipped away from the hands of PTI.

Search terms such as democracy, protests, religion and human rights would be censored in such engine. This means that you won’t be obtaining any results if you search for those key words. The project with the code `Dragonfly’ is already said to have been completed and is submitted to the Chinese government.

Ex CM to pay 10 lakhs for damaging bungalow

Chief Minister of a state is often granted a luxurious house to live in during their tenure in office. However the lure of free residence is so strong that the ministers reject to vacate the bungalow even after they step down from the cabinet. Here is another example for that. The Supreme Court had to step in to order Ex Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav to vacate the official residence. The government’s committee has also found that severe damages worth at least 10 lakhs were done to the residence allotted to him.  UP government is getting prepared to charge the amount from Akhilesh. However Akhilesh claims that the government is trying to tarnish his image with petty issues and divert the concentration of public.

Minor raped by stepfather over 5 months

Well... this is the reason why the social activists fear about the safety of women in our society. A 14 year old girl was continuously raped by her step father for 5 long months. The gruesome act came to light only when the girl was diagnosed as three months pregnant. The step father threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed her ordeal to others. It’s ironic to note that the girl’s mother knew about the happenings but has kept silent all along. The accused, Vijay Bairagi, was charged under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The district administration is thinking of sending the child to a rescue home after she completes her treatment.

This has of course kept the police on their heels as the previous agitation of MKM has resulted in huge violence. Huge loss to public as well as private property was reported during the protest of MKM on July 25th. And today, Maharashtra might witness much ackward scenes!

    Fish taking treatment in ICU

Here is some weird news from Bihar. The government hospital in Nalanda has witnessed some unwanted guests. After some heavy rains, fish began to swim in the ICU of Patna's Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH). The hospital has utterly failed to prevent the rain water flooding the hospital and the fish too came along with the floods. The prestigious college which is expected to act as a role model has become a laughing stock after the incident. Locals blame that the incident has occurred due to pure negligence of hospital administration which is not at all prepared for floods. The fish swimming merrily in the ICU has become viral on the social media. Though it seems `fishy’ for the common man, local people blame that such incidents take place every year during the rainy season!

Over the decades these migrants have completely changed the demographics of the state. This has prompted the government to take up a National Register of Citizens to enrol the legal citizens. However it is not clear about the kind of action that would be taken against those migrants who were found illegal. It’s almost sure that their voting rights would be cancelled and they might be prompted to leave the country.

Jagan faces heat on Kapu reservation

Did Y.S. Jagan make a self goal by denying the demand for the Kapu community? Certainly! While speaking at a recent rally Jagan has commented that it’s not possible to provide reservations for Kapu community, as the matter lies with the central government. His statement has received huge wrath from the Kapu community and its leaders. Jagan has faced severe protests during his visit in East Godavari. The government has also urged the court to impose a punishment of seven years of imprisonment for those who try to impose this violent custom. However the lawyer representing the Bohra community argued that the custom should be considered as a part of religious freedom. The court will continue to hear the case today.
