Batva trendy accessory

Navaratri is the season to showcase your fashion sense to the world. As this season is known for its traditional flavours in our food and dressing, people across the country are more willing to go back to the cultural roots and cherish them through out. Especially for ladies, these festivals are the platforms to get back to our traditions. Indian attire is one of its exclusive kind and “saree” is the one among them which rules the “Indian Fashion World” even today. When you wear such ethnic saree, carrying that attire with the right accessory is also mandatory. Here comes with one of such accessory called “Batva” or “Potli”, a small hand bag which is used by ladies to carry their essentials like mobile phone and cash while going for parties. If you match up this purse with your saree you will look stunning; for this here are few tips to design your own “Batva”. • If you are buying the “Batva” from outside market, try to pick up them in Golden and silver colours as they go very well with your silk sarees. • Before you buy your handbag, check your closet for the colours which are dominating; for ex; few people buy more in yellows, few pick up the hues of red colour… If you identify the dominating colour in your wardrobe you can pick your purse accordingly. • If you know any bag maker, you can as well get a “Batva” stitched as per your requirement; you can as well choose the designs and colours matching the saree by using simple embroidery and aplic works. • Batva can be used as a part of bridal collection for the Receptions to give a rich look; while getting this accessory ready for the bride, try to make with heavy hand work like jardosi or get it studded with stones to enhance the beauty.   - M.S. How to Make your Old Wardrobe in to New one

What do you do when you visit a cloth expo? You check for the latest trends and different models coming up in the market…. Right? But How much do you shop in such exhibitions.. May be less as your purse may not support you to buy everything newly available in the market…. Space is also another challenging area which triggers your mind when you think of shopping…. In this scenario, have you ever thought that you can create a different trend altogether by spending very less still not having cloths piled up in your wardrobe. Here is the solution…. If you have too many silk Sarees layered in your wardrobe; its time for you to convert them in to nice “Half Sarees” since they are in trend now. Take a Silk Saree which has a contrast border. Make it in to Two pieces, Use the fist one of 4 meters and rest keep it aside. Overlap the first half of the border with the same colour velvet cloth. Take 1 inch lace ( Preferably gold colour with sequence work)and get it stitched 1 inch above the Saree border. Have the Saree stitched in to “Ghagra type ” lehenga with full “ghear”. Now go for a Velvet Blouse stitched in a “choli “pattern. Now take 2.5 meters chiffon material to make the pallu . Prefer contrast colours which will give you great look to the set (like Pink, Orange & Yellow/ Green, Blue & Yellow). Get this cloth bordered with same velvet cloth and lace used on the Saree. Wear this set with appropriate jewellery; Trust me, you will own a stunning look and many more compliments…   - Bhavana

The significance of Women Accessories

Everybody wants to dress better, but few know how to go about it. Its not about going shopping more often, (though that would help!) and its definitely not about having more clothes. Its all about the accessories. Accessories dress up an outfit and can make a world of difference to your look. You could wear the simplest of clothes and yet look like a million bucks. All it takes is a little planning. In this article we focus on bags and shoes. Dont shop randomly : When you shop randomly, you end up spending more money without coming out any more stylish than you were. You come home with more, not better than what you had. Unless you have pots of money, you need to organize your shopping if you want to add some serious style without breaking the bank. Dont wear worn-out accessories : Just as the first step to assembling a good wardrobe is to stock up on basics, it is the same with accessories. If you dont already have a jacket, the first one you own shouldnt be banana yellow. Similarly, for formal wear, make sure you have a black leather belt, black shoes and a black bag. If your leather bag or belt has started peeling or otherwise coming apart, its time to get new ones. Dont carry them assuming your outfit is a killer so no one will notice the chipped leather on your bag. A worn out bag can make the snazziest outfit look shabby. So no, you do not need another top, you need another belt, or you need another bag. You could however designate a well-worn bag to casual status, and wear it during the day with jeans (not trousers). Prioritise : Spend some time in front of your wardrobe and make a list of what you need. Do you have shoes that match, or do you wear everything with black shoes? If so, then let your first shopping item be a new pair of shoes instead of another top. If you have quite a few light blue shirts and light blue jeans, pick up a pair of reasonable light blue low-heeled sandals that you can wear casually or formally. Buy a bag to match your shoes : So whats next on your list after blue shoes? Green shoes? Wrong answer. A blue bag that matches your shoes to perfection. You dont have to buy the bag immediately, but just make sure its next on your list, and avoid buying anything not on that list unless you need it. You can now wear your blue shoes and blue bag with contrasting coloured clothes as well, not just with blue. Similarly, if you have a pair of red, green or orange funky shoes sitting at home, then the first item on your shopping list could be a red, green or orange bag. Dont forget to carry the shoes when you, so you can purchase the exact coloured bag. Remember : The bottom line is, instead of thinking Let me buy that black bag, it will go with all my clothes, think...Let me buy that black t-shirt, it will go with all my bags. We all know that only a few colours suit us, and by now we know what those colours are. Stick to those colours, and experiment with bags. And if you plan your shopping, this will not work out to be an expensive option. Remember, dont shop for accessories to match your clothes, shop for clothes to match your accessories, and you`ll come out looking far more stylish.

10 accessories every woman needs

  1. Diamond studs : Even if you’re in jeans and a t-shirt, your sparkly studs will shine. If you can’t afford real diamonds, these earrings from Nordstrom are the next best thing. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. 2. Pearls : Pearls are classic and always in style. Use a pair of tiny earrings or a single strand/multi-strand necklace to dress up any outfit. They’re the perfect ladylike staple. 3. Watch : Watches aren’t just an accessory, they’re practical. But, when will you ever need a watch since your phone tells you the time? Sometimes there’s nothing more disrespectful and disrupting than someone constantly checking their phone. Watches are chic, sexy, and timeless (no pun intended). 4. Statement necklace : Statement necklaces are a great way to complete any outfit. Choose one that’s versatile and fits your personality. Use it to dress up something casual like a t-shirt or denim button-up or pair it with any dress in your closet. 5. Black heels : A classic pair of black heels can be worn with anything in your wardrobe, except maybe your yoga pants. Pointy, round, patent, open-toe... the choice is yours. Pick a pair (or two) that won't go out of style and that you can wear no matter the occasion. 6. Belt : You never know when you’ll need a belt to pull your outfit together, literally. Purchase one in a neutral color, like black or brown, that can be worn with a variety of things. You may need to slip it through the belt loops on your pants or to cinch the waistline of a dress. Once you're comfortable accessorizing a belt, experiment with more funky colors and patterns. 7. Go-to handbag : Every woman should have a favorite go-to handbag. It's the one that rests comfortably on your shoulder and holds all your necessities. Feel free to splurge a little, especially since you'll have it forever. 8. Sunglasses : Choose a pair of sunglasses that can protect your eyes during any season. Remember that it's important to find a pair that fit your face shape. Good thing we thought of that for you. Click here to find out what looks best on your face shape! 9. Cardigan : Some may argue that a great cardigan isn’t technically an “accessory,” it’s an article of clothing. Well according to Dictionary.com, the definition of accessory is, “an article or set of articles … that adds completeness … to one’s basic outfit.” Cardigans are a perfect layering piece and when paired with other accessories definitely complete a basic outfit. They're also great to keep around just in case it gets chilly! 10. Umbrella : Does this classify as an accessory? We think so. It’s never fun getting caught in the rain, but it would be more fun if you were at least prepared. Invest in a durable umbrella in a cute, bright pattern.

Caring For A Tattoo

The first and foremost thing to do after getting a tattoo done is to apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment on it. The tattoo artist usually takes care of applying the antibiotic ointment, but in case you don’t get it done at the tattoo shop, you can always do the same by yourself. The purpose of applying the antibiotic ointment is to keep infection at bay, prevent the tattoo from drying out and reduce the chances of the occurrence of scars. Next, cover the tattoo with a clean and unused bandage This too is almost always done by the tattoo artist, but if not, you can do it yourself. You will have to keep the bandage on for at least two hours after getting the tattoo done. The bandage provides your tattoo and skin with additional protection. It keeps the ink in place and in case of bleeding, prevents the blood from staining your clothes. Once the two hours have passed by, gently remove the bandage. You mostly will notice blood or a fluid on the tattoo. Don’t panic! It’s absolutely normal for the tattooed part of the skin to bleed for it was after all pierced with an extremely sharp needle. With a clean tissue, wipe the tattoo and reapply antibiotic ointment. Wait for ten to fifteen minutes. The bleeding and oozing should stop. If at all it continues, reapply the ointment and wait for as long as it takes for the bleeding and oozing to stop. When sleeping just after getting a tattoo done or on the day of getting the tattoo done, make it a point to sleep with loose clothing on. Tight clothes and fresh tattoos are a bad combination. Also, take care to prevent the tattoo from sticking to the sheets when you hit the sack. When washing the tattooed area, make sure you use a mild soap. This is extremely important to do in case of bleeding. Wash the tattooed area just once, preferably in the morning. Do not cover your tattoo with a bandage after washing it. Remember, your tattoo needs more exposure and breathing space. To add speed to the healing process, apply an unscented moisturizing lotion onto the tattoo after you are done washing it. Do this for three to four weeks after getting a tattoo done.

Party Dress Ideas For Teenagers

Whether pear-shaped or having a hour-glass figure, the dress you choose should flatter your body shape. The dress should be a perfect fit – neither too tight nor loose. By knowing your measurements - the size of your bust, waist and hip, you will be able to figure out which size of the dress fits you perfectly. Even though your dress fits you perfectly, the wrong choice of color can make you look horrible rather than charming. The choice of color chiefly depends upon the time of the party you are attending. Pastel shades are good choice for the day time while you can opt for shades of blue and the elegant black for a night party. Although black is everyone’s favorite color, shades of deep blues, greens and purples should also be considered while choosing the color for the attire. A pair of blue denim jeans with a U-neck tank top will be a good choice for the young teen girls. Accessorize your attire with a bracelet, matching earrings and a stylish belt. A mini skirt with a chic top will be the perfect fit for the young girls who love to flaunt their beautiful slim legs. Wear a dress that highlights at the bust line, in case you have a flat chest. A sleeveless t-shirt paired with a long skirt and flip-slops will complete the look for your party. For the little teen guys, a pair of cargoes with a tee shirt is apt for the party. Stylize your hair with mousse and get ready to rock and roll. Wear clothes that match the theme chosen for the party. You may search for the theme party costumes in the local store.

And you thought nail polish was only meant for your nails

  1. Make remote buttons glow in the dark: There comes a point of time in every household when the buttons of a remote lose their print and one ends up pressing the wrong button or changing the channel, especially after the lights are dimmed. Put an end to this problem by painting the frequently used buttons of your remotes with glow in the dark nail polish. You may even mark some other important objects like the A/C remote, medicine boxes, with the glow in the dark nail polish to locate them easily in dark. 2. Small cover up jobs on your car can be difficult and expensive. If your car gets a rock chip or other small chip, you can look for a colour that matches closely and dab a little on it to cover it up. This tip works only on very small scratches and chips though. 3. Colour code all your keys so that it is easy to spot 4. A quick fix for this is dipping the end of your thread in a small amount of nail polish for easy thread-ability. 5. Smudge proof your labels and items that rust easily. Dab a coat of clear nail polish on items that might smudge, like plant labels, to seal an envelope and protect addresses, especially when you are sending them on a rainy day. 6. Clear nail polish is very useful to prevent fabrics from fraying. Quickly apply clear nail polish on the frayed edges of dresses, little girls’ ribbons, laces when they unravel and tights when you are in a hurry and need to save time. 7. Use a bright coloured nail polish to creatively mark measurement cups, children’s mugs or cereal bowls to prevent siblings from fighting over them! 8. Clear nail polish comes in handy when you have to thread a needle and also to make the thread on the shirt buttons last longer. 9. Apply a coat of nail polish before you screw in those screws and nuts that are always coming off loose from cupboards, drawers, hinges, pans etc. If you ever need to unscrew them, a quick turn with a wrench will click them open. 10. Tarnish your artificial, inexpensive costume jewellery to add a sparkle to it. Use nail polish on the underside of jewellery or wrist watches, if you are allergic to some metals so that it doesn’t come in contact with your skin directly. Now here are a couple of tips to make those nail polishes last longer: 1. Nail polish stays fresh and lasts longer when stored in the refrigerator. Store them all together in one small plastic container. 2. Wipe the threads of your nail polish bottle and cap with a little cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover when you are done using it. It will open easily, the next time 3. Roll the nail polish bottle between your palms instead of vigorously shaking them which causes bubbles to form in them.   - Veena ShyamRaja

Tips for Tattooing

Before the tattoo artists starts making the design on your body, make sure that he/she is using new, sterile disposable instruments. At the same time, ensure that he/she uses fresh ink for each session. It is always advisable to look through the tattoo artist's portfolio. Through it, you will be able to see his work and ascertain whether he/she is really good or not. Relax yourself completely before getting the tattoo made. If you are nervous and fidgeting too much, the artist will find it difficult to make the tattoo perfectly. Insist on the tattoo artist to wash his/her hands with water and soap, or a standard sanitizing agent, and wear latex gloves, before making the design. The tattoo artist must provide clear tattoo aftercare instructions and products. Do not forget to gather the information from him/her. Be well aware of the rules and regulations related to tattoos in your state or country. For example: in US you cannot donate the blood for at least one year after getting a tattoo done on your body, it helps in controlling the spread of hepatitis. If you have any qualms about getting a tattoo or you are underage to get a tattoo done on your body then get a temporary one first instead. If you have a certain design in your mind then get a henna tattoo of the same design done on the exact body part where you might want to get a permanent one done later. This tattoo will wash off in a month’s time and will give you a good idea of how it will look on you. Once you get a tattoo keep it covered with a bandage for the first twenty four hours. It is advisable to not touch the tattoo when it is fresh and not to pick at any scabs. It is good for your tattoo to be kept lubricated with petroleum jelly. You may also put some antibiotic ointment on it to keep it clean and infection free.

10 Fashion Tips for Short Girls

  1. Go Monochrome : While we love the colorblock trend, it really can leave you looking blocky, with too many colors breaking up the silhouette. Try donning shades of a single color from head to toe to really elongate the silhouette and give the illusion of height. 2. Try High-Waisted Styles : No matter your height, you should always consider proportions when picking out a flattering outfit. For short girls, high-waisted skirts, pants, and shorts create the look of longer legs and thus a taller silhouette. 3. Heels are Always Flattering : One of the most fun fashion tips for short girls is to wear high-heeled shoes. Whether you’re comfortable in platforms or just want a bit of a lift, a pair of heels will physically make you taller. If heels aren’t you thing, then try wedges or booties. If you’re completely uncomfortable in heels, or the situation just doesn’t call for them, try to… 4. Go With Pointed Flats : They give the appearance of added height, but leave you comfortable enough to strut. Tottering around heels is never a good thing, and when it comes to shoes, you should also… 5. Avoid Ankle-Straps : When it comes to dark colored shoes, you will absolutely want to avoid any ankle straps, because they make the ankle appear wider, instead of longer. If you’re wearing shoes in a nude shade similar to your skin, you should still be okay with a thin ankle strap. 6. Go For Fitted : You don’t need to don skintight dresses, but take into consideration that anything too slouchy or voluminous adds unnecessary bulk to your petite frame. When it comes to dresses, stick to column-styles and wear tops that just skim the body, and aren’t too big or tight. If your dress or top is a bit too slouchy, you can always… 7. Add a Thin Belt : While belts can run the risk of appearing to cut your body in half, a thin belt is better proportioned. If you’re short, and a little curvy, like me, thin belts are your best friend. I use them to keep billowy tops cinched in at the waist, to appear curvy, not bulky. 8. Avoid Oversized Handbags : Have you seen the pictures of the Olsen twins carrying huge handbags? Not only does it look silly, but it’s also unflattering for petite figures. An extra-large handbag is very un-proportional to a small frame. Stick with the smaller handbags; they’re just as trendy. 9. Pick the Right Pants : It’s always been a challenge to find the perfect pair of pants for a short girl, but more and more companies are rolling out bottoms with shorter inseams to fix that problem. For the best proportions, you’ll want a fitted style with a slight flare, or boot-cut. 10. Don’t be Afraid of Alterations : Alterations are helpful for girls of any height or size. You find the perfect skirt, that’s just a few inches too long? No problem! Just take a quick and inexpensive trip to get it altered; most dry-cleaners offer some alteration services. For short girls, it’s all about getting the perfect fit from our clothes, and alterations can make that happen.

Choosing a handbag reflects your personality

A person who is aesthetic will be attracted to a showy handbag with more frills than is practical. A person who prefers a simpler practical approach will avoid a handbag with tassels, decorative buckles, and numerous pockets, and will opt for a simple and, probably spacious, handbag. A confident and refined woman who has an eye for detail would choose a handbag crafted out of luxury leathers. She would want to make an impression but not necessarily be showy. She would understand that to make a mark, sometimes, less is more. A woman with a flamboyant personality who wants to make heads turn would opt for fabrics such as lace with a lot of Indian classical beadwork and glitter. Such a woman would choose vibrant colours that bring out her youthful nature. Finally, a woman who wants value for money would look for an all-round handbag. This would be a bag with good utilitarian value, with additional organiser pockets, key chains, and cell phone pockets, yet at the same time, having an aesthetic touch. Depending on your lifestyle you may want to choose a handbag that is lightweight. This is especially true if you will spend a lot of time travelling. Clutch handbag is an inconvenient option for people who travel a lot by public transport and should be thought through. Though a popular handbag these days, they are easy to lose and liable to be snatched away. For such an occasion, a clutch bag with a leather or chain strap is more apt. While travelling a person can sling it over her shoulders and otherwise tuck the strap into the bag itself.
