Padma Awards announced, Ramanaidu gets Padma Bhushan

        Padma Awards 2013: The list of recipients of the prestigious Padma Award for 2013 was announced on Friday after approval from President of India, on the eve of Republic Day. In total 109 Padma Awards would be conferred this year - 5 Padma Vibhushan, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77 Padma Shri Awards. Movie Mogul Ramanaidu has been conferred the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India - the Padma Bhushan Award, in recognition for his stellar contribution to Telugu cinema. The filmmaker got the official confirmation on Friday morning. The Guinness Record holder's name was nominated of the honor along with director Bapu by the AP Government in November last year. The legendary filmmaker hold the Guinness World Record for being the most prolific film producer in the world with over 130 films to his credit. He was conferred the Dada Saheb Phakle Award -country's highest award in cinema - in 2010. Veteran filmmaker Bapu who made a comeback with Balakrishna starrer Sri Ramarajyam was also awarded the Padma Shri Award. The filmmaker who films are known for their Telugu nativity, have won many National Awards. Padma Vibhushan Prof Yashpal, Haider Raza, Raghunath Mohapatra, Rodham Narsimha. Telangana MPs shoots letter to High Command

  AICC Secretary Gulam Nabi Azad’s announcement about the likely extension of the deadline for few more days or weeks has sparked fire in Telangana region. Soon after his announcement, TRS has aimed it guns on Congress party leaders in the region and demands them to quit their posts immediately. Unable to sustain the pressures from TRS, today they have wrote a letter to party high command asking if it couldn’t announce its decision on January 28th as promised, at least it should declare another date to announce its decision on the Telangana issue.   But, none of them could explain what makes them stop from quitting their jobs. Are they delaying because they are still hopeful on a favorable decision or are they afraid to leave the party as there is no other alternative in Telangana except TRS, which they least prefers to join? Are they afraid of their party high command? The beleaguered Telangana leaders have several questions to answer. Hope a day will come to know their minds.

Gadkari shrinks himself to take upon IT officials

  Former BJP president Nithin Gadkari, who missed his second term due to timing of the IT raids on his Purti Power Project group of companies, has comes heavily on Income Tax officials after arriving at Nagapur on yesterday. Speaking to media at airport he said “So far, being a president of a political party, I have to refrain from speaking openly due to my limitations. But, now I am a free man. I know how they (IT Officials) are hatching conspiracies against me sitting in their offices. Some people in the department sympathetic to me and to my party have explained me about all this conspiracy and about the people involved in it. Once our party comes to power there will be no Sonia Gandhi and no Chidambaram to save you (IT officials),” said Gadkari. By, stating so he shrinks himself to a galli size leader

YSR Congress party blames judiciary system?

  It seems YSR Congress party is very much frustrated with High Court’s attitude than for being rejected Jagan Mohan Redddy’s bail petition on yesterday. The news item published in Sakshi News in its today’s edition has clearly reflects its negative opinion on our judiciary system. Although, it couldn’t dare to directly blame the Supreme Court or some other courts for refusing bail petitions of Jagan Mohan Reddy, the story indicates that the judiciary system is also comes under the influence of the government, in other words under the Congress party.   Part of the news item read like this: "Ours is a country where democracy, constitution, legal system and laws go hand in hand. But, even common nowadays understands how the Congress party and CBI jointly conspiring against Jagan Mohan Reddy. Congress and CBI together conspires against Jagan and planning to confine him to jail forever fearing of loosing of its identity in the state if he is released from the jail. CBI, which is not raising any objections to the bail petitions filed by the other accused in the same cases, is objecting Jagan’s bail petition only."   "During the emergency period the Judges of Supreme Court have bluntly told Jayaprakash Narayan, Madhu, Madhu Dhandavate, George Fernandes and Kuldeep Nayyar that “You are not even eligible to ask for a bail.” But, the same judges after retirement have agreed that they have made a mistake in saying so. We are sure that the same situation will repeat in the future in Jagan’s case also. Is this an undeclared emergency period to keep Jagan Mohan Reddy in the jail for so many months by intentionally prolonging the CBI investigation? We are sure people will definitely give the same kind of verdict that they gave after emergency,” says Vasireddy Padma the official spokes person of the YSR Congress party.

TRS bumper offer to Cong leaders

    TRS leader Harish rao has come with a bumper offer to Congress leaders on yesterday. Speaking to media he said “It is time for Congress MLAs, MPS and Ministers to quit their posts and join our fight for Telangana cause. We will take care of those leaders who sacrifice their posts right now. We even welcome them to join our party if they wish and give full assurance for the existing positions in the upcoming elections. But, if they comes to us in the last minute we will not encourage such opportunistic leaders, who keep glued to their posts till the last minute and plans to take plunge into our party for safeguarding their political future. If, the Congress leaders fail to step down from their posts immediately, we are going to teach them a good lesson very soon.”   Harish rao, while giving them offer also creating a do-or-die situation for the Congress leaders. Whether, the Congress leaders accepts his bait or challenge to be seen in the days to come.

Deadline issue helps Babu for a smooth sail?

    As against expected troubles for Chandrababu in Krishna district for his pro Telangana stand, his pada-yatra is going smoothly and he enjoys overwhelming response from the huge turnout of the people. Although, Lagadapati Rajagopal has tried to encourage Seemandhra leaders in the region with his one-day drama while his entry into the district, there were no takers for him. He was able to escalate tensions between Congress and TDP cadres for a while but his efforts fails to make any negative impact on Chandrababu’s pada-yatra, probably because the people and the political parties in the state were grasped with the January 28th deadline on bifurcation issue and the consequent reactions to Azad’s statement. Nevertheless to say this situation helped him a lot for a smooth sail in the district. Neither he nor the people are keen to raise the point about his party pro Telangana stand during his pada-yatra.   So, Chandrababu is moving ahead with his pet subjects of attacking on Congress and YSR Congress parties. Chandrababu before beginning his pada-yatra from Kondur village in the district has paid tributes to his party leader late Paritala Ravi on the eve of his 8th death anniversary.

Seemandhra leaders meeting with Rahul cancelled

  The proposed meeting of Seemandhra leaders with Rahul Gandhi on today evening was cancelled due to untold reasons and the leaders are returning home today itself. Although, Rahul is keen to have a meeting with them, probably he might have advised by the party not to meet them fearing it may send wrong signals to leaders on other side. More over, if he meets them the experienced politicians may wisely make him spell his stand on the bifurcation issue, which would be an embarrassing to him to the party. It also obviously provides a chance to Telangana leaders to seek appointment with him on the next day. So, instead of hugging an embarrassing situation, it would be better to skip the meeting.

Jana still hopeful on Telangana

  Perhaps the only one leader from Telangana region Minister K. Jana Reddy is still hopeful of a favorable decision on Telangana issue, while the rest has lost their hopes with Gulam Nabi Azad’s yesterday statement. Jana Reddy asked the people to be patient for few more days as the party high command is now sincerely putting efforts to resolve the problem. He said if the party high command goes against Telangana then including him everyone can go to streets for Telangana cause. Perhaps one should agree it is the only best option left now if wants to resolve the problem forever. Every politician should realize that merely raising the political temperatures will leads to nowhere.

Samaikyandhra effect-MLA resigns

  Even as the center indicates likely extension of the deadline for announcing its decision on bifurcation of the state, Samaikyandhra agitations gaining momentum in the region force MLAs to quit their posts. Congress party MLA Sridhar Krishna Reddy from Nellore city, who was gheraoed by the Samaikyandhra activists on yesterday was forced to handover his resignation letter to them. He assured them to send his resignation letter to Speaker and to party Chief Sonia Gandhi by fax, on January 28th if the party takes a decision in favor of Telangana. He said he is always for Samaikyandhra and will not let down his spirits merely to hang to power.

Paritala Sriram to contest in elections?

  On the eve of late Paritala Ravindra’s death ceremony, his widow Paritala Sunita a TDP MLA from Raptadu constituency in Anantapur and the party leaders in the district have paid rich tribute late Paritala Ravindra today at Venkatapuram where he was layed down to rest.   Later speaking to media she said that if her party high command orders, her son Paritala Sriram is ready to contest in the forthcoming elections. On this occasion her family and the party members of the district have remebered his services to downtrodden and to the party.

Police case against Bellamkonda

  Tollywood Singamala Ramesh, who once used to make big budget films starring the big heroes of the industry, has been arrested by police and facing severe charges for his faulty financial deals. Once again, yet another big producer from Tollywood Bellamkonda Suresh’s name surfaced for allegedly cheating a financier Radha Krishna.   Failing to get refund of his Rs.1 crore finance given to the producer Bellamkonda, he has lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills police today against the producer. He said despite several reminders the producer not only ignored to refund his money in full, but when personally approached he even manhandled him for asking the money. Police have filed a case against Bellamkonda Suresh for cheating, manhandling of the financier.

Rahul takes charge as Vice President

  Rahul Gandhi who was elected as vice president of the party during the recent Chintan Shibir held at Jaipur had a rousing welcome by his party leaders at AICC office, when he arrived to party office for the first time after assuming new post. Several leaders of the party have lined up to greet him on the occasion. He said Congress alone provides a good platform for political reforms in the country.

Udhav elected as Shivsena Chief

  Udhav Thakrey s/o late Bal Thakrey was unanimously elected as president of radical Shivsena on Wednesday. Later, his party has conducted a memorial day function of late Bal Thakrey at Lal bagh in Mumbai, where the party distributed knives toots women cadre for self protection against sexual assaults.

Rajnath Singh takes charge as BJP president

  While, the unfortunate Nithin Gadkari was betrayed of his second term as he was bitten by Congress party, the same has come as blessing to 62 year old Rajnath Singh, who unexpectedly becomes the president of BJP with a unanimous vote. Rajnath also enjoys the backing of Sangh Pariwar and is acceptable for majority of party leaders. Hence, it was just a cake walk for him to become party president.   However, there were troubles waiting in the backyard of his party, which demands an immediate attention by him. The BJP ruling government in Karnataka had a setback with two of its ministers quitting the party for joining Yedurappa’s newly launched party. Unless, the new-elect resolves this problem there is a threat of loosing the only one state in the south for BJP.

Varma Committee tables its report

  The three member Committee headed by Justice Varma, which was appointed after the brutal incident of gang rape in New Delhi, for suggesting necessary amendments to the existing laws of the constitution that deal with sexual assault on the women in the country, has submitted its report one day before the deadline on Wednesday.   Varma committee has suggested that the punishment in rape cases should be increased from present 3 years to 10 years. However, it rejects death penalty to the criminals in these cases.   It suggests bringing down the present age limit of 18 to 16 years, so as no criminal could escape from charges for being juvenile despite committing serious offence like the Delhi gang rape case. Varma committee while thanking one and all who sent their valuable suggestions in this regard sharply criticizes the police departments of the country for not responding to its letters asking for their suggestions. Justice Varma said “Not even a single DSP in the country has bothered to respond to my letters.”   While, praising the youth for its spontaneous response on the issue, Varma Committee flays Delhi Police Commissioner for failing to provide assurance for safety of the women in New Delhi. It also flays the Home Ministry for backing such a person who fails in his basic duties.

Center back steps on Telangana issue

  Leaving the Telangana people and their leaders in a deep shock AICC member Gulam Nabi Azad has said that the Telangana process may need more time to resolve. Speaking to media at New Delhi, he said one shouldn’t assume one month means exactly 30days. He said, because of the seriousness of the issue one should be flexible with deadline. He said that they are trying hard and sincerely to resolve the problem as early as possible. He said that expecting an announcement on the exact date that is one January 28th is not correct, as it may take a week or two or even more to resolve the problem due to its complexity and sensitivity.

KCR missing!

  During these last few days of Telangana course, which are considered to be very crucial for all the Telangana protagonists, TRS president K.Chandrashekar rao has all of a sudden disappears from the media and not seen uttering a word on the issue.   His rivals say that he has lost confidence in Congress party of granting statehood to Telangana. So he is resting in his farm house before returning for a big fight with the Congress party and the government that he is planning to initiate after 28thof this month.   But, his die-hard followers say otherwise. They believe that he is playing the game behind the screen. They said he is in constant touch with Congress high command over the hot line. According to his close aides he has been refusing to accept Hyderabad as common capital for both states. He turns down all other offers and said to be insisting for Telangana with Hyderabad capital. However, it would be rather better to accept the common capital proposal than loosing the opportunity of having Telangana state, argue pro Telangana persons.

DNA report on Telangana

  Leading English news magazine DNA has published an article in its yesterday’s edition stating Home ministry opposes granting statehood to Telangana. It reports, that Home ministry express fears that carving of new state will encourage the separate state demands from all over the country, with which integrity of the country will be affected. It points out at the separate state demands of Bodoland in Assam, Kuchch Bihar and Gurkha land in West Bengal states as an example. It reports that a decision in favor of Telangana will leads to agitations in the country with same kind of demands, which can’t be controlled by the government. However, none from Home ministry has confirmed this reporting made by DNA nor condemned it until now.
