నిద్రముందు ఇంటర్నెట్టా... నో...!

  రోజంతా పనులతో హడావిడిగా గడిపేస్తాం. కాబట్టి నిద్రపోయే ముందు కాస్త ఫేస్‌బుక్‌లో ఫ్రెండ్స్ ఏం షేర్ చేశారో చూద్దాం అనుకుంటూ ఇంటర్నెట్ ముందు కూర్చుంటున్నారా? జాగ్రత్త... నిద్రలేమితో బాధపడతారు. దానినుంచి ఇంకెన్నో అనారోగ్యాలు చుట్టుముడతాయి అంటున్నారు జపాన్ పరిశోధకులు. నిద్ర సరిగ్గా పట్టకపోవడం, కలత నిద్ర వంటివి వేధిస్తుంటే దానికి కారణం పడుకునే ముందు టీవీ, ఇంటర్నెట్ వంటివి చూడటమే అని వీరు గట్టిగా చెబుతున్నారు. సాధారణంగా అందరూ పడుకునేంత సమయమే పడుకున్నా నిద్ర సరిపోనట్టు అనిపించిందంటే ఆలోచించాల్సిందేని హెచ్చరిస్తున్నారు.   ఎక్కువగా టీవీ, ఇంటర్నెట్ ముందు గడిపేవారికి, గడపని వారికి మధ్య నిద్రపోయే సమయంలో పెద్దగా తేడా లేకపోయినా, నిద్రలో నాణ్యత విషయంలో మాత్రం భారీగానే తేడా వుంటోందని తేలింది వీరి అధ్యయనంలో. 5 వేల మందిపై చేసిన ఈ అధ్యయనంలో ఇంటర్నెట్ సౌకర్యం అందుబాటులో వున్నవారిలో చాలామంది నిద్రకు ముందు ఇంటర్నెట్ వాడుతున్నట్టు తేలిందిట. దానివల్ల వారి ఆరోగ్యంపై తీవ్ర ప్రభావం పడుతున్నట్టు కూడా గుర్తించారు ఆ పరిశోధనలో. నిద్రకు ఓ రెండు గంటల ముందు నుంచి టీవీ, ఇంటర్నెట్‌లకు దూరంగా వుంటే కంటినిండా నిద్రపోవచ్చుట.   -రమ

యువతకు చైతన్య స్ఫూర్తి స్వామి వివేకానంద

భారతీయ యువతకు స్ఫూర్తి ప్రదాతగా నిలిచిన స్వామి వివేకానంద జయంతి నేడు. 1863, జనవరి 12వ తేదీన కలకత్తా నగరంలో జన్మించారు. విశ్వనాథ్ దత్తా, భువనేశ్వరి దేవి ఆయన తల్లిదండ్రులు. స్వామి వివేకానందగా నామాంతరం చెందకముందు ఆయన పేరు నరేంద్రనాథ్ దత్తా. ఇంట్లో అందరూ ఆయన్ని ముద్దుగా ‘నరేన్’ అని పిలిచేవారు. నరేంద్రుడు పుట్టేనాటికే ఆయన కుటుంబం సమాజంలో ఆర్థికంగా, పేరు ప్రతిష్టల పరంగా ఎంతో ఉన్నత స్థానంలో ఉండేవారు. విద్యలోను, దానంలోను, స్వేచ్ఛా స్వాతంత్ర్యాలను కోరుకునేవారిగా వారి కుటుంబాని సమాజంలో మంచి పేరు వుండేది. ఎంతోకాలంగా సంతానానికి నోచుకోని నరేంద్రుడి తల్లిదండ్రులు కాశీలోని వీరేశ్వర శివుడికి పూజలు చేయించిన తర్వాత, ఆ స్వామి వరప్రసాదం వల్లే నరేంద్రుడు జన్మించారని భావిస్తారు. నరేంద్రుడి తల్లికి శంకరుడు కలలో కనిపించి నేను నీకు కుమారుడిగా జన్మిస్తానని చెప్పారని కూడా అంటారు. ఏది ఏమైనప్పటికీ నరేంద్రుడు చురుకైన కుర్రాడిగా దినదిన ప్రవర్ధమానం అవుతూ వుండేవాడు. బాల్యంలో నరేంద్రనాథ్ ఎంతో అల్లరి పిల్లవాడిగా వుండేవాడు. ఉత్సాహంగా వుండేవాడు. అదే సమయంలో అతనికి ఆధ్యాత్మిక  అంశాల మీద కూడా ఎంతో మక్కువ వుండేది. రాముడు, సీత, శివుడు తదితర దైవ స్వరూపాలను పూజిస్తూ, ధ్యానిస్తూ ఆడుకునేవాడు. ధ్యానం అనేది నరేంద్రుడికి అన్నిటికంటే ఇష్టమైన ఆట. సాధువులు, సత్పురుషులను దర్శించి, వారిని సేవించడం అంటే ఆయనకు  అమిత ఆసక్తిగా వుండేది. అలా నరేంద్రుడు ఒక శక్తివంతమైన యువకుడిగా ఎదిగాడు. యువ నరేంద్రుడు సింహంలాంటి రూపానికి తోడు అమితమైన సరితూగే ధైర్యాన్ని కలిగివుండేవాడు. మంచి వస్తాదు వంటి శరీరనిర్మాణాన్ని, సుస్వరమైన గొంతును, ప్రకాశమానమైన బుద్ధిని కలిగివుండేవాడు. సాముగరిడీలు, తత్త్వశాస్త్రం, సంగీతం తదితర అంశాలలో అపారమైన ప్రతిభను ప్రదర్శించేవాడు. దేశీయ విధానాలతోపాటు పాశ్చాత్య తత్త్వాన్ని కూడా నరేంద్రుడు అవగతం చేసుకున్నాడు. ఈ సమయంలో నరేంద్రుడికి ఒక పెద్ద ప్రశ్న మనసులో తోచింది. అది ‘దేవుడు ఉన్నాడా‌? ఆయన్ని నేను చూడగలనా‌?’ ఈ ప్రశ్నకు సమాధానం అన్వేషిస్తూ నరేంద్రుడు ఎన్నో ప్రదేశాలకు తిరిగాడు. ఎంతోమందిని కలిశాడు. చివరికి ఆయన ప్రశ్నకు సద్గురువు తారసపడగానే సమాధానం దొరికింది. ఆ సద్గురువు ఎవరో కాదు.. రామకృష్ణ పరమహంస. రామకృష్ణ పరమహంస శిష్యరికంలో నరేంద్రుడు ఆధ్యాత్మికంగా ఎంతో అభివృద్ధిని సాధించాడు. పరమహంస నరేంద్రుడిని సంశయస్థితిలోనుంచి దృఢనిశ్చయానికి, ఆవేదన నుండి ఆధ్యాత్మిక ఆనందానికి అతనిని తీసుకొనిపోయారు. పరమహంస దేహాన్ని చాలించిన తర్వాత నరేంద్రుడు సన్యాసాన్ని స్వీకరించి ‘స్వామి వివేకానంద’గా మారారు. ఆ తర్వాత అనేక ప్రాంతాలలో పర్యటించారు. అమెరికాలోని చికాతో నగరంలో 1893 సెప్టెంబరు 11వ తేదీన సర్వమత సభలో స్వామి వివేకానంద ‘‘అమెరికాదేశపు సోదర సోదరీమణులారా’’ అంటూ ప్రారంభించి తన చారిత్రాత్మక ప్రసంగం చేసి ప్రపంచం దృష్టిని ఆకర్షించాడు.  ఆ తర్వాత ప్రపంచం మొత్తం పర్యటించారు. యువతకు స్ఫూర్తిగా నిలిచే ఎన్నో ప్రసంగాలు చేశారు. రామకృష్ణ మఠాన్ని స్థాపించడం ద్వారా ఎన్నో సేవా కార్యక్రమాలకు శ్రీకారం చుట్టారు. స్వామి వివేకానంద చెప్పిన మాటలు విని ఆచరిస్తే  చాలు.. నేటి యువత అభివృద్ధి పథంలోకి దూసుకుపోతుంది. ఎందరికో స్ఫూర్తి ప్రదాతగా నిలిచిన స్వామి వివేకానంద 1902 జులై 4న బేలూరులో కన్నుమూశారు. 39 సంవత్సరాలు మాత్రమే జీవించిన ఆయన పది జన్మలకు సరిపడా కృషి చేశారు. ప్రపంచంలో శాశ్వతంగా నిలిచిపోయిన స్ఫూర్తిని నింపారు.

నిశ్చితార్థం.. పెళ్ళి.. ఆ ముచ్చటే వేరు...

పెళ్ళి అనగానే ఒక వేడుక - సంబరం - ఎన్నెన్నో ఆచారాలు - సంప్రదాయాలు - ఇవన్నీ కూడా ఒకో ప్రాంతానికి ఒకో రకంగా వుంటాయి. ముందుగా మన తెలుగువారి నిశ్చితార్థం గురించి చెప్పుకోవాలంటే... తాంబూలాలని, పసుపు కుంకుమలు పెట్టుకోవడం, పూలు, పళ్ళు ఇచ్చుకోవటం ఇలా రకరకాలుగా పిలుస్తారు ఆ సంబరాన్ని. ఉంగరాలు, వస్త్రాలు ఇచ్చి పుచ్చుకుంటారు. వివాహ ముహూర్తాన్ని నిర్ణయించి లగ్న పత్రికలు రాసుకుంటారు. విందుతో కార్యక్రమం ముగుస్తుంది. దీనికి తోడు అదనంగా వేడుకలు సరేసరి. బెంగాలీల నిశ్చితార్థం వేడుకలు సంబరంగా సాగిపోతాయి. ‘‘ఆశీర్వాద్’’గా పిలిచే బెంగాలీల ఎంగేజ్‌మెంట్‌ను పెళ్ళంత వైభవంగా జరుపుతారు. పెళ్ళికి 5 రోజుల ముందు పెళ్ళికూతురు కుటుంబం పెళ్ళికొడుకు  ఇంటికి వెళ్ళి, వారి ఆశీర్వాదాలు తీసుకుంటారు. అలాగే పెళ్ళికొడుకుకి బంగారం ఇతర బహుమతులు ఇస్తారు. ఆడపెళ్ళివారు ఇక వీరి పెళ్ళి వేడుకలో సింధూర్ దాన్ ఓ ప్రత్యేకత కలిగిన వేడుక. అత్యంత శుభప్రదమైన ఎర్ర కుంకుమని స్త్రీధనంగా ఇస్తారు. పెద్ద డబ్బా నిండా కుంకుమను నింపి వధువుకి అందిస్తారు. ఈ సింధూర్ దాన్‌లో ఎవరి ఆర్థిక స్తోమతను బట్టి వారు విలువైన బహుమతులు ఇస్తారు. సింధీలు కొబ్బరి బోండాలు ఇచ్చిపుచ్చుకోవడాన్ని ‘కచ్చిమిశ్రీ’గా పిలుస్తారు. వేడుకలు ఘనంగా జరుపుతారు. ఇక వీరి పెళ్ళిలో ‘సిజ’ అని పిలిచే ఆచారంలో స్త్రీధనంగా మంచం, పరుపు, దిండ్లువంటివన్నీ ఇస్తారు. ఇక పంజాబీల విషయానికి వస్తే నిశ్చితార్థాన్ని వారు ‘రోక’ అంటారు. వివాహం జరగబోయే తేదీని ప్రకటిస్తారు. అబ్బాయి తరఫు వారు అమ్మాయికి నగలు, వస్త్రాలు, మేకప్ కిట్, ఆటబొమ్మలు వంటివి కానుకలుగా అందిస్తారు. అలాగే అబ్బాయికి కూడా అమ్మాయి తరఫు వారు అనేక బహుమతులు ఇస్తారు. ఇక వీరి పెళ్ళి వేడుకలో వధువుకు కొత్త కాపురానికి కావలసివన్నీ సమకూరుస్తారు ఆమె తల్లిదండ్రులు. మిజోరాం ప్రాంతీయుల పెళ్ళిలో వరుడు తనకు కాబోయే భార్యకు స్త్రీధనం ఇస్తాడు. పెళ్ళిరోజున అమ్మాయి తండ్రికి దానిని అందించడం ఆచారం. ఇక గోవా వాసులు అమ్మాయికి పెళ్ళిలో ఇచ్చే అన్ని వస్తువులనూ ఏడేడు చొప్పున ఇస్తారు. అలాగే ఎక్కువగా వస్త్రాలకు అధిక ప్రాధాన్యమిస్తారు. కొంతమంది ఆర్థిక స్తోమతని అనుసరించి ఇంటికి కావల్సిన వస్తువులని కూడా సమకూరుస్తారు. ‘సాంచ్’ పేరుతో గుజరాతీలు చేసే వేడుకలో అందమైన చుక్కల చుక్కల చాందినీ వస్త్రంతో ఓ పెద్ద సంచిని, దానితోపాటు మరో చిన్న సంచిని వధువుకు ఇస్తారు వీరు. అమ్మాయికి ఇచ్చే వస్తువులన్నీ ఆ సంచిలో పెట్టాలి. అది పూర్తిగా నిండాలి. ఇంటికి సంబంధించిన వస్తువులు పెడతారు దాన్లో. ఇక చిన్ సంచిని ‘కల్చీ’ అంటారు. వధువు తన భర్త కోసం స్వంతంగా డిజైన్ చేసుకునే సంచి అది. దీని నిండా రకరకాల పిండివంటలు వుంటాయి. ఇక పెళ్ళి సమయంలో ప్రత్యేకంగా కన్యాప్రదాన్ అనే కార్యక్రమాన్ని నిర్వహించడం జైన్ల ఆచారం. ఆ సమయంలో వధువు తల్లిదండ్రులు లేదా మేనమామ ఆమె కుడిచేతిలో బియ్యం, రూపాయి పావలా డబ్బు ఉంచుతారు. మంత్రోచ్ఛారణతో తమ అమ్మాయిని వరుడికి అప్పగిస్తారు. ఆ తర్వాత పుట్టింటివారితోపాటు వరుడు కూడా వధువుకి కానుకలు ఇస్తాడు.   ....రమ ఇరగవరపు

తాళం చెవుల‘కీ’ చెవి!

ఆఫీసుకు టైమవుతుంటే బండి తాళాలు కనిపించవు. కారు తాళాలు ఎక్కడో వుంటాయి. వెతుకులాటతో చిరాకు, కోపం ఉదయాన్నే మనల్ని ఆవహిస్తాయి. ఇక ఆ చికాకు రోజంతా వెన్నాడుతుంది. ఇవన్నీ సరే హ్యాండ్ బ్యాగ్‌లో వేసిన ఇంటి తాళం చటుక్కున చేతికి అందదు. ఈ తాళాలతో ఇన్ని తిప్పలు. ‘‘ఎంచక్కా సెల్‌కి రింగ్ ఇచ్చి దాని అడ్రస్సు కనుక్కున్నట్టు వీటికీ ఓ ఆప్షన్ ఉంటే బాగుండును’’ అని మనందరం ఎప్పుడో ఒకప్పుడు అనుకునే వుంటాం కదా!   మనలాంటి వారి కోసమే ‘‘విజిల్ కీ ఫైండర్’’ తయారు చేశారుట. ఈసారి తాళాలు కనిపించకపోతే ఒక్క విజిల్ వేయండి చాలు అంటున్నారు దీని తయారీదారులు. మన విజిల్ సౌండ్‌కి ఈ ఫైండర్‌కి వున్న ఎల్ఇడి లైట్ వెలగటంతోపాటు ఓ బీప్ సౌండ్ కూడా వస్తుంది. దాంతో ఎక్కడ దాగున్నా టక్కున పట్టుబడిపోతుంది మన తాళం చెవి. -రమ

Spring cleaning is the way to go!

  The concept of ‘Spring Cleaning’ is quite a common concept abroad. And we must say Indians don’t believe in this concept at all. So, what is Spring Cleaning? By dictionary definition, the term means ‘cleaning a home/ house thoroughly after winter’. But if we go by urban usage, it might as well mean – cleaning up thoroughly so we get rid of unwanted stuff! Yes, we all have a lot of junk at home that we’ve accumulated over the years. It’s not easy to get these items out of our homes or lives – be it for their sentimental value or for their usage value or just because they have been there forever! But Feng Shui experts believe that creating space by throwing away unwanted stuff will create positive vibes at home. So why delay, let’s get rid of things thus:   ~ You’re finding it difficult to accommodate all your kitchen items in those shelves? Think again and see if you are filling them with junk - say, plastic containers and boxes which your neighbourhood restaurant guys have been sending across each time you order a take-away/ parcel! These are one of the first things that get accumulated at home without our knowledge. Learn to throw away the plastic boxes the moment you’re done with your dinner/ lunch. ~ You are out shopping and you’ve set your eyes upon that lovely tea set… well, while there’s nothing wrong with wanting to buy new crockery, just close your eyes for a moment and think if you have space to store the new set, or if there’s an old set that you’ve not been using for over two years now! Are you sure you don’t want to start using your not-much-used crockery or at least donate it to your maid or cook? Take a wise decision before you make an impulsive purchase again! ~ We would say please follow the same advice when you want to buy more utensils or stainless steel containers. With the increasing number of nuclear families, we really do not require those huge vessels in which you can cook rice for 15-20 people. Unless you’re the kind who hosts parties at home regularly, we would suggest that you pack those things away and donate them to an orphanage or old-age home. They’ll be more useful there than at your home! ~ The next biggest issue at hand is organizing your clothes’ shelf. You really have too many clothes and finding the right ones to wear to work every morning is a pain. This weekend, make sure you spend a couple of hours to sort through the piles of clothes stocked away in those three almirahs and see which are the ones you have stopped using because of size issues, which are the ones whose existence you almost forgot, which are the ones you bought but didn’t wear even once. Sort them out in your own order of preference – saris (daily wear/ work wear/ function wear/ party wear), salwars (designer wear with heavy work/ regular wear), and Western wear (jeans-tops for outings/ formal trousers shirts for client meetings). Besides these you’ve undergarments. Pile them up taking into consideration the usage factor and see if there are things you’ve not worn in the past 6-8 months (especially among your regular wear) and understand that those are precisely the ones you’re not going to wear in the next few months either. Harden your heart and discard them or donate them. ~ Repeat the exercise with your spouse’s and kids’ clothes as well. Remember the rule of the thumb: what you don’t wish to wear immediately, you won’t wear it later either. ~ Also, apply this rule to your kids’ toys – there are two cartons filled with toys lying under your child’s bed which s/he isn’t playing with anymore. They might have outgrown some of the toys while they don’t have enough interest or time for the others. Sort them out and convince your child to donate them to those less fortunate kids at an orphanage, and explain how the toys that they’ve outgrown might be useful and valuable for other children. ~ Now think about all the electronic gadgets or accessories that are lying in one of the shelves at home – unused. Be it your old camera (because you got a new DSLR), camcorder, DVD player, television, mobile phone, radio, music system, cassettes/ CDs, desktop, walkman, laptop, tablet, flower vase, table lamp, wall clocks – whatever it is, if you’ve not been using it for a while, chances are you won’t be using it ever in the future. Just sell them for whatever price is okay with you or just give them away to your household help. See, it’s so easy to breathe easy! Once you decide what to discard, life becomes easy. Don’t hesitate to get rid of junk and make your life simpler and happier! Get, set, go…  

బంగారం ధర ఎందుకు తగ్గుతోంది?

పసిడికాంతులు వెలవెలబోతున్నాయి. నిన్న మొన్నటిదాకా ఆకాశంలో ఉన్న బంగారం ధర ఒక్కసారిగా నేలచూపులు చూస్తోంది. అంతేకాదు పసిడి ఇంకా దిగివచ్చే సూచనలు స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తున్నాయి. బంగారం ధర తగ్గుముఖం పట్టణంలో సాధారణ వినియోగదారులు సంతోషిస్తుంటే...దానిపై భారీగా పెట్టుబడులు పెట్టిన వారు మాత్రం ఆందోళన చెందుతున్నారు.         2012 లో బంగారం అన్నిహద్దులు దాటేసింది. రికార్టు స్థాయి ధరను నమోదు చేసింది. ఏకంగా తులం బంగారం 33 వేల మార్కుకు చేరింది. అప్పుడున్న దూకుడు చూసి ఇంకా పెరుగుతుందని అంచనా వేశారు. కానీ ఆ తర్వాత అదే స్థాయిలో కాకపోయినా పసిడి తగ్గుతూ వచ్చింది. ఇప్పుడు 25,500 కు పడిపోయింది. ప్రస్తుతమున్న పరిస్థితుల్లో ఇంకా తగ్గినా ఆశ్చర్యపోవాల్సిన అవసరం లేదంటున్నారు పరిశీలకులు.         బంగారం రేటు తగ్గడానికి అనేక కారణాలున్నాయి. అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో అమెరికా ఎఫెక్ట్ బాగా ఉంది. ముఖ్యంగా ఉద్దీపనా పథకాలకు స్వస్తి చెబుతున్నట్టు అమెరికా స్పష్టం చేసింది. అక్కడి ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ కోలుకోవడానికి తీసుకోవడానికి ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకున్న మంచి నిర్ణయం ఇదే. ఇప్పుడదే ప్రభావం బంగారు రేటుపైనా పడింది. గోల్డ్ కు ఎదురుదెబ్బ తగిలింది. దీనికి తోడు అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో ముడి చములు ధరలు బాగా తగ్గాయి. అటు చైనాలో డిమాండ్ బాగా తగ్గింది. గతంలో ధర తగ్గిన ప్రతిసారి చైనా భారీగా బంగారాను కొనుగోలు చేసింది. కానీ ఈసారి మాత్రం చైనా నుంచి సానుకూల స్పందన లేదు. అన్నింటికి మించి మోడీ సర్కార్ వచ్చాక భారత్ లో పాజిటివ్ వాతావరణం ఏర్పడింది. ముడిసరుకు ధర తగ్గడం కలిసొచ్చింది. రూపాయి మారకం విలువ స్థిరంగా ఉండడంతో పాటు బలపడే అవకాశాలు స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తున్నాయి. అందుకే గోల్డ్ రేటు తగ్గుతూ వస్తోందంటున్నారు మార్కెట్ పరిశీలకులు.

* దీపావళి రోజున మార్వాడీలు లక్షీ పూజను ఘనంగా జరుపుతారు. వ్యాపారస్తులు తమ ఖాతాలను ఈ రోజు నుంచే ప్రారంభిస్తారు. * మహారాష్ట్రలో  దీపావళిని అన్నాచెల్లెళ్ళ పండగగా కూడా జరుపుకుంటారు. ఆ రోజున అన్నలు, చెల్లెళ్ళు, అక్కలు, తమ్ముళ్ళను ఆహ్వానించి విందు జరిపి చీరలు మొదలైన కానుకలు ఇస్తారు. * పంజాబ్ లో సిక్కులు దీపావళిని మహా వైభవంగా జరుపుకుంటారు సిక్కుల గురువు హరగోవింద్ సింగ్ మొఘల్ పాలకుల బందిఖానా నుంచి దీపావళి రోజునే విడుదలయ్యాడు. ఆ కారణంగా సిక్కులు దీపావళిని పవిత్రమైన రోజుగా భావిస్తారు. సిక్కుల పవిత్రమైన దేవాలయం స్వర్ణదేవాలయాన్ని రంగురంగుల దీపాలతో అలంకరిస్తారు. * బెంగాలీవారు, ఒరియావారు దీపావళి సందర్భంగా కాళీమాతను పూజిస్తారు. * మలయాళీలు దీపావళి రోజున బలిచక్రవర్తికి పూజలు చేస్తారు. * తమిళనాడులో అన్నదమ్ములు తమ తోబుట్టువులను ఇంటికి పిల్చి  చీరలు కానుకగా ఇవ్వడం ఆచారం. * రాజస్థాన్‌లో దీపావళి రోజున అగ్ని పూజ చేస్తారు. దీనిని వారు ‘‘ హిచ్’’ అంటారు హిచ్ అంటే అర్థం మట్టికుంపటి. మగవారు ఈ కుంపటిని వెలిగించి ఊరంతా తిప్పుతారు. * ఉత్తర కర్ణాటక జిల్లాలలో దీపావళి రోజున దీపాలను వెలిగించి పశువుల ఎదురుగా పెడతారు. దీన్నే వారు ఆణీ , పేణీ అంటారు. ఆ విధంగా చేయడం వల్ల పశువులు ఆరోగ్యంగా వుండి పశుసంపద పెరుగుతుందని వారి విశ్వాసం. * మహారాష్ట్ర, గుజరాత్ రాష్ట్రాలలోని కొన్ని ప్రాంతాలలో దీపావళి రోజున ముత్తైదువులను ప్రత్యేకంగా సత్కరిస్తారు. నూతన వస్త్రాలు పళ్ళు బహుకరిస్తారు. ముత్తైదువులు అన్నాన్ని రాసిగా పోసి భగవంతునికి సమర్పిస్తారు. దీనిని వారు ‘‘అన్నకూట్’’ అంటారు. * బర్మా దేశంలో దీపావళిని ‘‘తంగీజు’’  అంటారు. బుద్ధుడుదీపావళి నాడే భూమ్మీదకు వచ్చాడని వారి నమ్మకం. * నేపాల్ దేశంలో దీపావళిని  ఐదు రోజుల పండగగా చేసుకుంటారు దీన్ని వారు ‘పంచక్’ అంటారు. * కంబోడియా దేశంలో కూడా దీపావళిని వేడుకగా చేసుకుంటారు.  గతంలో కాంభోజ రాజ్యంగా పిలిచే ఈ  దేశాన్ని  పూర్వం హిందూరాజులు కొంతకాలం పరిపాలించారు. ఆ  కారణంగా దీపావళి అక్కడ ప్రాచుర్యంలోకి వచ్చింది.

Maintaining Your Glasses!

May be because of the advancement in Technology we all eyesight problems. Kids, becuase they are glued to televisions, ipads and playstations.The youngsters, always glued to their smartphones.The working class, always on desktops and phone. The oldage, owing their age the eyes muscle become weak so does their sight! So, inevitably we have to accept that we rely on a pair of glasses!   Here is how we take simple measures to keep them right : By using both the hands while taking them off or while putiing them on. Though it doesn't look stylish, it will save the frame bending and maintains its shape! Do not resort to the fancy cleaners with ammonia and alcohol. These chemical rip the coating of the glasses, instead use water with dilutes soap. To dry the glasses use the microfibre cloth provided other types of clothing may scratch the glasses. During your outing at the beach, it might be tempting to rinse the sand off in the water, never do that! As the salt in the water might corrode the frame at the joints and the glasses, instead use bottled water to clean them. Never leave them in place where the temperature is raising hot! As the frames are made by pouring hot melted plastic in to moulds. Exposure to heat might distort them! Avoid putting them on head, as hair contains natural oils that will stain the lenses and that angle will lead to stretching of the frame, either put them down in case or hang them from shirt. Never leave your glasses with the lens-side down, they will get scratched, put them in hard cases! Take Care!!

Modern Perspective of Janmashtami

Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. Ashtami is significant as it indicates a perfect balance between the seen and the unseen aspects of reality; the visible material world and the invisible spiritual realm. They rekindle your life, from being a burnt-out and stressed personality to a more centred and dynamic one. Krishna teaches us devotion with skill. To celebrate Gokulashtami is to imbibe extremely opposite yet compatible qualities and manifest them in your own life. Wal-Mart India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of world’s biggest retailer, on Tuesday launched its wholesale e-commerce platform bestpricewholesale.co.in for Hyderabad and Lucknow. The virtual store is exclusively for members of Best Price modern wholesale stores in the two cities, and provides a similar assortment of products, and special items for members, the company said in a statement. “This initiative is aimed at enhancing our members’ shopping experience by integrating physical and digital store presence,” said Krish Iyer, President and Chief Executive Officer, Wal-Mart India. “It represents an additional channel for us to serve our members better and help them save money as it comes with the added convenience of ordering online, door-step delivery within 24 hours and several payment solutions.”   The website will offer customers within a 40km radius the option of ordering online and picking up products from a physical cash-and-carry store or having them delivered, Iyer had said earlier in June. Wal-Mart is also planning to expand its presence to other cities where it has a physical presence by January. What you can do for your Father on this special day
