Power politics in Tamballapalli

Tamballapalli in Chittur district has always remain a key constituency for all the political parties because of its influence over the other constituencies in the district. Those parties manage to capture this constituency will have an edge over its rivals. Hence all the political parties put it on top of their list when comes the district.   The recent developments taking place in that constituency highlights the special interest of the political parties on that particular constituency and the power play of the politics. Recently, YSR Congress party has absorbed the TDP MLA Praveen of this constituency.   But, actually it was able to attract Kalicherla Prabhakar Reddy the senior most leader of the Congress party and former MLA of the constituency, who is also brother-in-law of none other than state Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Prabhakar Reddy, who enjoys a good following and strong cadre for himself in the surrounding areas of Tamballapalli, has proved his mettle by winning the elections as an independent MLA, when the congress not given him party ticket during the last elections. Yet, keeping in view of his close relationship with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, he maintained ‘political silence’ all these months.   But, YSR Congress party was able to convince him to join it by offering district in-charge post and assuring party ticket in the coming elections. Ever since, he strengthened the YSR Congress part base in the surrounding areas of Tamballapalli with his efforts. But, when YSR Congress party all of a sudden takes ‘U’ turn on him and rolls red carpet to his rival TDP MLA Praven recently, he couldn’t digest it. He believed that YSR Congress party is playing double-game with him. Ever since, he gradually distances himself from party activities and even he skips YS.Vijayamma meeting held recently at Tamballapalli.   TDP which is closely watching for its turn swiftly jumps for him offering party ticket from the same constituency. Although, he is not keen about party ticket, he said to be determined to teach a lesson to YSR Congress party by joining TDP and defeating his rival in the upcoming elections. Hence, it is just a matter of time for him to join TDP. Senior leaders of the party is said to be discussing with him about his induction into party. TDP also understood that his presence is certainly an added advantage to it in the constituency.   While YSR Congress party seems to be made a wrong step by loosing him, TDP gains upper hand over its two rivals Congress and YSR Congress parties with his induction into party. Hence, we can expect a neck to neck competition in the upcoming elections in this constituency.

Delhi Gang Rape : 4 Accused Arrested

Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 23-year-old student here, who remained on ventilator in a critical condition. With the two arrests, the total number of persons arrested in this case has climbed to four. Two persons were arrested yesterday. The incident triggered outrage with students of Jawaharlal Nehru University staging a demonstration outside Vasant Kunj Police Station. The 23-year-old para-medical student was raped and brutally assaulted by four men who also attacked her male friend and threw both of them out of the vehicle. Last night, Ram Singh, the driver of the bus in which the girl was raped, and his brother Yogesh were arrested. Singh and Yogesh are the first to be arrested, police said and added that Yogesh was driving the bus when Singh allegedly raped the girl along with others. The condition of the girl remained critical and she was on ventilator in Safdarjung Hospital. Both the girl and her male friend, who had boarded the chartered bus with tinted glass windows from Munirka in south Delhi around 9.45 P.M. to Palam, were assaulted with an iron rod by the men after the two resisted before they were dumped on the road side near Mahipalpur flyover, police said. Sources said police managed to get the CCTV footage of the bus from which they managed to zero in on the bus. The investigators also send text messages to mobile phones of the victims which were snatched by the attackers. “One of the phones was active and it helped us to pinpoint on them,” a senior police official said. Police have recovered the iron rod which was used to assault the victim and her male friend, the official said.

Can TRS and YSRC accommodate all the newcomers?

Recently, TRS president has announced that whoever Telangana leaders in other parties like to join his TRS are welcome to join. He assured them party tickets from their present constituencies and also assures to bear their election expenses. He assessed that around 50-70 MLAs in other parties would like to join him in a later periods.   In such case, can his party ignore its own members who wish to contest from the same constituencies? Can he afford to loose them for the newcomers or able to convince them to let the new comers enters their shoes? Every one knows that it is highly impossible to implement his idea. Hence, his proposal has no credibility at all. When we see the mad rush into YSR Congress party, it will remind us about the same situation that Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam has gone thorough during 2009 elections. He also allows everyone, who comes expecting party tickets in 2009 general elections. But, we have seen how the party virtually collapsed during elections period itself. Neither his party could allot party tickets to all the aspirants nor it able to get benefit from the newcomers. Instead, his party has to wind-up its operations permanently and forced to merge with Congress party with which it fights in the elections.   Hence both these cases reveal that no party can assure party tickets to all the newcomers and no party can afford loosing of its cadre to the newcomers. Yet, knowing all this, several senior and junior leaders standing in front of other party gates hoping for a bright political future.

Let me be me: Chiranjeevi

It appears Union Minister Chiranjeevi has not yet matured in politics. But, he seems to be well understood the ‘thumb rule’ of the Congress party. Falling into Congress lanes, now and then he do not forget to quote the names of his party Chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi through out his speech proving that he exactly caught the point.   But, rest of his speech proves that still he needs to mature a lot in politics. Since, there was no well-scripted speech in his hands, he tried to convince the audiences that now he is a fully matured politician who can take upon the party rivals like any one, but unfortunately in one or two points it backfires at him. He revealed his inexperience and immaturity in the politics by mentioning that YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy is playing political games from Chanchalguda jail itself by using cell phones in the jail. By saying so, he unknowingly gives a weapon to TDP which has been blaming Kiran Kumar government for providing all facilities to YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy in the jail, because of the secret pact that they had between them. Nevertheless, TDP catches Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government by his tongue highlighting Chiranjeevi’s quotes about Jagan using cell phones in the jail.   He also reminds the members of the party who attend the meeting that he is a new comer into the party by telling them that he has merged his PRP into Congress party unconditionally. When he says that, many were seen smiling for his over smartness as they all knows why did he merged his party into Congress party and what makes him Union Minister now.   When it was a time for him to dilute his PRP personality and emerge as a full fledged Congress leader, he reminds the audiences that he is still an outsider in the party. After a year service in Congress party he would have wiped off his PRP image to fully align with Congress cadre, but he did quite against with his speech.   He tried to impress the audiences as well as the party high command by speaking against Chandrababu and Jagan Mohan Reddy in the meeting, but couldn’t make any impact. Would he come up with some concrete proposals to strengthen the party and the government to face the upcoming elections, he would have won the hearts of the party.   ultimately, it appears that he wants to tell the party “Let me be me, expect no change in me.”

CM emerges confident with the meeting?

The brain storming conference by Congress party held at Hyderabad on Sunday ends with a sour note. The meeting which was intended to chalk out an action plan to prepare the party for the upcoming elections has ended with routine speeches, Congress-mark politics, self boasting and criticizing their rivals, where as it would have utilized this great opportunity to interact with its rural leaders who takes pain to attend the meeting.   However, it seems Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has realized that the party fails to take all his welfare schemes to public. Hence he declared that from now onwards he will concentrate on boosting the morals of grass routes level party workers by providing them his full support and will try to induct them into nominated posts soon, so as his government will have their support in spreading his welfare schemes to remote areas of the state.   For the first time in party’s history, everyone honestly admits that the rural workers of the party need to be given necessary support in all means. If, the party can sincerely implement this decision, certainly it is going to yield fruits to party in the coming elections. However, Congress party is used to think a lot but always fails implementing its ideas.   This meeting also brings out the bold face of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. He appears to be developed some courage and strongly voiced about his achievements. He not only boasted about his government but also thrown challenge to his rival parties like MIM, TDP asking them to face the Congress party in the elections if they can.   If one could recall his speech given at Ravindra Bharati few weeks ago, which reflects his sober mood for uncertainty of his CM post, he appears quite confident and bold in this meeting. The way he confidently takes upon his rivals reflects a big change in his attitude. Is it because the party high command backs him in full or did he decide to go ahead in his own style to prove his mettle before its too late? Or else, he plans to overpower PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana with this meeting?
