Did YSRCP really dominates in P’Elections

No doubt YSR Congress supporters have won a good number of Sarpanch posts during the first phase of Panchayat elections held yesterday. But, its boasting about gaining upper hand over its rivals TDP and Congress parties makes it a laughing stock in the political circles. TDP and Congress have virtually grabbed the lion share in Telangana region, where as YSR Congress party hardly makes its presence felt there. This itself leaves a wide gap between it and its rivals. Yet, it is making tall claims of dominating its two rivals in the elections. Unlike in Assembly and Parliament elections, there is no official statement or record about who is who in these elections, because these elections are considered to be party-less elections. So, any party can claim any winner as its own in an attempt to save itself from embarrassment. Perhaps, this how YSRCP takes pains to declare itself as a winner in the Panchayat race. So, its figures published in Jagan Mohan Reddy owned Sakshi news media have dominated its two rivals. Here is the four reports published in four leading Telugu dailies on the verdict:

MPs not concerned of country reputation

The letters faxed to White House signed by some our MPs asking US Government not to grant Visa to Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, makes the US laugh on us and downgrades our value in its views. Around 65 MPs of 12 different political parties have signed these letters sent to White House on November 26th and December 5th and again on last Sunday. They appealed the US government to continue its policy of refusing US Visa to Modi, because of his communal background. These so called MPs, who believe themselves as scholars and up above the normal public, have simply ignored the fact that their letters complaining against their fellow Indian citizen will bring down the reputation of our country. If, they all hate and oppose him, they could stop him from calcimining Prime Minister Post by joining hands and defeat his party in the forthcoming elections. But, instead they all prefer to bring down the country’s reputation by writing letters to White House. They should realize that a visit to US is not considered as any great achievement to leader of that level but brining the US businessmen and political executives to his door step seeking business agreements with his government is called an achievement.

TDP and Congress grabs lion share in Panchayat elections

The verdict of the 1st phase Panchayat elections has almost come out. According to latest reports, Congress and TDP followers are leading in a neck to neck competition followed by YSRCP. TRS is trailing in the race. The latest tally of different parties supported Sarpanches, who were declared won the race. TDP-400; Congress-379; YSRCP-266; TRS-59; Others-313; Left parties-12. While Congress has shown a clear upper hand over at Vizianagaram, Karnool, Kareem Nagar and Nalgonda districts, it gave way to TDP at Srikakulam, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasham, Chittoor and in Ananthapur districts. YSRCP is as expected has shown upper hand in Kadapa by winning 36, while letting Congress grab 20 and TDP 8 Sarpanch posts. It has given a tough competition to TDP in its strong hold Krishna district by winning 26 where as TDP has won just 25 only. It also won a good number of Sarpanch posts in Guntur(21); Nellore (24); Chittoor (57) but fails in Telangana reguion. TRS has bagged 22 Sarpanch posts in Medak, which is highest of its record, while in all other districts it hardly made its presence felt. Final report on the Panchayat elections will be presented soon.

Is CWC an excuse to buy time

It appears Congress is gearing-up to create separate Telangana state very soon. Unlike earlier, it is seen doing some ground work before making a formal announcement on Telangana state creation in its proposed CWC Meeting. Recently, it summoned DGP Dinesh Reddy and now the Dy.CM Damodara Rajanarasimha to New Delhi. Calling Dy.CM to Delhi hints that it is for discussing on his road map given for Telangana. He was asked to make available himself at Delhi for a couple of days, which is also a clear indication of Congress interest in addressing the issues raised by him in the road map. Though, his meeting alerts the Seemandhra leaders and state government employees of the region, Congress seems wants to go ahead with its bifurcation idea. DGP might have consulted to assess the law and order situation that may arise after making T declaration. All these developments clearly indicates that the proposed CWC meeting is just an excuse to buy few more days time to complete this ground work on the Telangana issue.

Kate Middleton Gives Birth to Royal Baby

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, delivered a baby boy on late night Monday at St Mary's Hospital here. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm (local time). The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz," the Kensington Palace said in a statement. The baby was born in the private Lindo Wing of the hospital in central London. Prince William was with his 31-year-old wife when she delivered their child at the hospital in Paddington, where his mother, Princess Diana, gave birth to him in June 1982. The cost of a suite at the unit is GBP 6,265 for a one-night stay with no complications and GBP 2,200 for each extra night. All rooms have satellite TV, wi-fi, radio and a safe. The wing also offers a "comprehensive wine list". Fresh bouquets of flowers are delivered every day and blackout curtains ensure total privacy. Gynaecologists, paediatricians, midwives, nurses, breast -feeding consultants and nursery nurses are all on hand.

Byreddy to launch political party soon

Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi president Byreddy Rajashekhar Reddy has announced that he is going to launch a political party in the next month. He told the media that he wrote letters to all the AICC members requesting not to divide Rayalaseema to form Rayala Telangana. In his letter to Congress he warned that if it divides the region then it has to face dire consequences. He sharply criticized his Seema leaders Chandrababu, CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy, TG Venkatesh and others for failing to raise voice against Congress proposal of forming Rayala Telangana. He condemns Vijayamma statement of “It makes no difference for her party even if Congress creates Rayala Telangana state.” He said in such case, YSRCP should put her photo in TRS office and Jagan should launch a new political party ‘Jaganadhra party’ to suit their ambitions. He said if the Congress plans to split Rayalaseema, then he will start agitation afresh to avert such ideas. Byreddy is protesting division of the state, but if division is inevitable he demands to make it three separate states as Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana and not as Andhra and Telangana or Rayala Telangana and Andhra states.

Panchayat elections begin

The first phase elections for 5803 Panchayats begin at 7am today. Polling will continue till 1pm. Counting of votes will begin at 2pm and results will be declared soon after the counting. First the results of ward members will be announced and then the Sarpanches. However, based upon the Collector’s reports the state Election Commission rescheduled the elections in the flood affected areas of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Kareem Nagar, Warangal, Kammam and East Godavari districts. Elections in these districts will be held on July 31st. The 2nd and 3rd phase of elections will be held on 27th and 30th simultaneously. Though, the political parties are not supposed to participate in these elections, all the political parties have joined the fray represented by their followers. Hence, all the political parties have indulged in all sorts of irregular practices in luring the voters.

Will TDP appeals Cong. YSRCP for Avanigadda?

Bye-elections for Avanigadda constituency in Krishna district will be held on August 21st. The elections are taking place due to death of TDP sitting MLA Brahmannaiah on April 21st. EC has announced the schedule for the elections on Friday. Notification will be issued on July 27th, the last date for filing nominations is August 3rd and Scrutiny on 5th and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is August 7th. So, hardly less than a month left for the bye-elections, TDP has declared his son Ambati Hari babu as party candidate. Congress and YSRCP are also not keen to contest in the elections as there is just 10 mo0nths left for the general elections. So, they are said to be waiting for an appeal from TDP to let its candidate elect unanimously. If, TDP doesn’t want to give a chance to its rivals for raising this point in the general elections, then it may send Brahmannaiah family members to appeal Congress and YSR Congress parties not to stall its candidates.

Congress likely to create separate PCCs soon

Even while, the Congress is gearing-up for bifurcation of the state, Rajya Sabha Congress member Palwai Govardhan Reddy has revealed interesting news. He said that soon his party is going to create two separate Congress Committees for Andhra and Telangana regions and it’s likely to happen soon after the CWC meeting makes an announcement on bifurcation. He also said that his party is going to introduce the Telangana bill in the monsoon sessions that begins from August 5th. There are also speculations about who will be given charge as PCC presidents in both regions. According to reports Rajhamundry MP Undavalli Arun Kumar for Andhra region and D.Srinivas for Telangana region are likely to be appointed as PCC in-charges. Palwai has rubbished the reports about Rayala Telangana as it is acceptable to neither side of the people.

Power to kin is justifying BCs?

As the elections start closing-in, the state will witness number of casts’ meetings. This is to showcase their strength to political parties to claim their due share in the party tickets. Yesterday, one such meeting by Yadhav community takes place at Hyderabad, for which UP CM Akhilesh Yadhav was invited as Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that his government is giving utmost priority to the BCs and other backward communities in the state. He said here in AP also all the backward communities should unite to get their due share in the power, education and in jobs. He said only by fighting they can get their due rights. He appreciated the state political parties for offering 100 seats to BCs in the forthcoming elections. Indeed, he delivered an excellent speech and gave an very excellent message to his people. But, is it necessary to remind people that our political parties are giving tickets to the money rich BC MPs, MLAs and Ministers’ kin’s only and not to any of those who attend this kind of meetings? When his father Mulayam Singh has shifted to national politics, Akhilesh alone is considered as the legal heir to rule the state as CM. Is this what he preaches about fighting for due share? Few leaders, who grows to top position will seek thier community support to claim their due share, but will never allow anyone else to share the power except their family members. Yet, people divided as communities blindly back such leaders. One should realize that only education, hard work, honesty and skills will empower any person to reach heights his/her life and definitely not the cast, religion or race factors.

School kids served food containing insecticide

The forensic report reveals that the 23 school kids in Bihar were died due to extremely dangerous insecticide content (Monocrotophos) in the oil used for preparing their food. Additional Director General of Police Ravinder Kumar said, the food samples collected from the midday meals from the school contains poisonous substance. He said that his men are investigating the case to find out how, who and why the food was poisoned. He said his teams are also trying to trace out whether the oil was contaminated by the manufacturing oil company. The post-mortem of the children has confirmed the presence of a poisonous substance in the potato-soyabean curry that was served to them in the midday meal. Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh, who treated the kids has said “55 our of 65 fell ill with the food poisoning. Those 23 ill fated kids, who ate the curry made with the oil died and other ten students have narrowly escaped death. The other students, who just eat rice and pulses are safe, but disturbed and shocked with the incident. They have been given necessary treatment and discharged. “The principal of the school Meena Devi is still absconding. The cook has complained about the pungent smell of the oil, but she was forced to use it by the principal. Hence, the government has decided to attach their property to oblige her return and surrender to police,” said Saran Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar said.

Will Vijayamma efforts yield votes to YSRCP

While, the ruling governments try to win the people’s hearts declaring welfare schemes, opposition parties draw their attention by fighting on their behalf with the government with some sort of demands or reaching them at their needy hours. Political parties in the country follow this simple techniques to win the people hearts. Now coming to point, YSRCP honorary president Vijayamma, who is also fast learning these simple political techniques sat for a two-day deeksha on fees reimbursement issue and without expecting or getting any response from the government on her demand, she simply winds it and then hurriedly moves to Adilabad district, where several villages were affected with heavy rains. Today, she will be visiting the flood affected villages Nizampur, Sanapur, Lekharwada, Tarna etc located in Jainath mandal. The EC has postponed the Panchayat elections of the flood affected villages. Vijayamma might be hoping that her courtesy visit to the flood affected villages will shower votes for her party hem in the other Panchayats, which are going for polls on 23, 27 and 30th July. In such case, her next visit will be to East and West Godavari districts, where the situation is same.

Is KCR unaware of party position

During the co-operative society elections, when Congress makes a clean sweep in the Telangana region leaving the TRS behind, then KCR and his associates excuses themselves for not concentrating on the elections. So, this time KCR himself has conducted political training camps to his cadres, well ahead of these Panchayat elections. He educated them to chase out the Seemandhra political parties from the region, including Congress party. He even said to be lured his party cadres with party tickets for 2014 elections to win the Panchayat elections. But the unanimously elected candidates list of the Panchayat elections declared on Wednesday, has again comes as a big shock to TRS, especially to its president KCR, who used to make tall claims on having full grip on Telangana region. Out of the 528 unanimously elected, TRS has just won only 87 where as the Congress has dominated the scene. TDP also won a good number of seats in the region. As against KCR’s tall claims, even YSRCP has also shown a remarkable progress in Telangana region. Still, the Panchayat polls to be held on three phases on 23, 27 and 30th of July. If, the same results repeat in these 3 phases, then KCR will be again obliged find excuse for his poor show in his native region.

Narendra Modi gives a balm to Advani and Co

Whether one would agree his leadership or not, BJP has finally made it clear yesterday that Narendra Modi will steer the party in 2014 elections. Especially, senior leaders LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and their followers were made realize this fact with forming of 20 sub-committees, for which Modi will be the head. Advani was given balm to supervise the Election Campaign Committee (ECC), led by Modi. Sushma Swaraj was also treated in the same manner by inducting her in ECC as a member. Murali Manohar Joshi and Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, besides Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan (M.P.), Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh) and Manohar Parrikar (Goa) also have been inducted into ECC. In the crucial meeting held at yesterday, BJP has formed total 20 sub-committees each assigned with different tasks like organizing rallies, publicity, manifesto, party strategies to counter Congress and other parties and interaction with young India through social network etc. All these committees will assist and work under ECC. However, the ECC and the sub-committees will work under the overall guidance of the party seniors Vajpayee, Advani and party President Rajnath Singh, added BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar. Former president of the party, Gadkari was given the task of handling the forthcoming Assembly elections Delhi. While empowering Modi to lead the BJP in election battle, it has tried to paint its efforts as a collective fight against Congress, but not as a personal fight between Modi v/s Rahul Gandhi.

Are the padayatras and deekshas political motivated

YSR Congress party honorary president Vijayamma sat for a two-day deeksha on Thursday at Indira Park, Hyderabad in protest against the GO issued by the government that caps the fees reimbursement of engineering students at Rs.35, 000. But, the timing and span of her deeksha gives scope for all the political parties to flake her intentions. While, the Congress opines that she is fighting on behalf of the corporate colleges, TRS sees it as an attempt to influence the rural voters going for Panchayat elections soon. TDP believes that it is just an attempt to uphold her party spirits in the elections moment. A Congress minister has stated that these days opposition parties are hitting the roads with their deekshas and padayatras, giving attractive and catchy titles. Though, the government is leaving no stone unturned in helping the poor, some opposition leaders are taking pains to spread gobbles against the government, thus misguiding the people. He said some opposition leaders are coming prepared with all the comforts of the house for doing such deekshas and padayatras. He said opposition has lost its self confidence due to the several welfare schemes being introduced by the state government. Hence, they fear loose their political identities unless they move among the people.

SC scraps NEET allows EMCET for Medical seats

The Supreme Court ruling against NEET (National Eligibility Entrance test) notification for filling-up the medical seats in the states has come as a blessing for lakhs of students, who are not familiar with it. Yesterday, Supreme Court has scrapped the notification issued by the Medical Council of India and stated that it can’t control the different entrance exam patterns in different states or can’t insist to follow its NEET for filling-up the medical seats all over the country. The apex court has allowed all the state governments for filling-up the medical seats through EMCET or with their exiting local entrance exam patterns. With this, the 2 year long stalemate between the AIMC and state governments has comes to an end. However, the apex court also allows the state governments to adopt the NEET process for filling-up the medical seats, if they opt for it. We might be aware that in AP the medical seats are being filled through EMCET exams. So, students in AP, who are planning to join medical course now need not to worry about facing NEET and they can continue with EMCET, which they are very familiar with.

Temporary relief for Jagan

Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is passing through his bad times since last one year, for the first time had a small relief with a stay order given by the Appellate Authority (AA) against the ED Adjudicating Authority’s (ED-AA) permission for attaching Rs.51 crores worth assets of Jagathi Publications. The ED has attached the properties of Jagathi Publications in the last year. But, the AA has stayed it after a year long arguments by both parties. The stay order will remain effected until it gives next verdict on this matter. However, Jagan Mohan Reddy is much worried about his bail than these ED cases. He is desperately looking for his bail as the general elections are fast approaching. He too knew that his absence in the election period will leave his beleaguered party behind the race. If his party fails to make a dent on in the next elections, it would be proved fatal for the party and further worsens his position. So, he and his family members are anxiously waiting to apply for his bail, after the four months grace period that has been granted to CBI by the Supreme Court for completing the investigation into his disproportionate assets cases, which ends in September this year.

CWC meets on 28th, but will it answer T issue

Finally, the date for crucial CWC meeting is confirmed to July 28th. If, Congress is to be believed, then it would be a historical meeting that decides the fate of Andhra Pradesh state, whether to keep it intact or divide into two as Andhra and Telangana states. Party state political affairs in-charge Digvijay Singh and home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde are asserting that a clear Yes or No will be announced on the state bifurcation after this CWC meeting. AICC has sent messages to all the 41 members of the CWC to attend this crucial meeting without fail. It is to be observed that although all the political parties in the state are now favoring bifurcation, its own leaders of both regions are crossing swords in the state over bifurcation. Hence, Congress has to face problems from within rather than outside. But, if it is also a part of its game-plan to avert division of the state, then it is likely play its new idea of formally announcing ‘Rayala Telangana’ in its CWC meeting so as it can stir a new controversy and initiate a new hot debate, with which it can start negotiations afresh. But, ultimately it will adversely affect Congress chances of winning in the state in the forthcoming general elections.
