Police arrests ABN journalist and released

 

The intolerance towards a section of media by the Telangana government has been strongly criticized by everyone. However, it did nothing to lift the ban on the two media news channels even after 198 days in the state, which is shameful in a democratic country like India. As if it is not enough, police have taken Ranganath, the ABN Warangal news division in-charge into custody on yesterday midnight, fearing protests from the journalists during CM KCR’s visit to the city on Monday.

 

According to him, three police men have entered into his home yesterday mid-night and taken him to Mattewada police station. He said they not even let him speak to his family or to his office staff on phone. But, later they released him as the news spreads like wildfire and journalists start protesting his arrest. However, he was asked to not to step out of his house till CM KCR’s visit is over. According to ABN reports, police have also arrested a TV9 reporter, few other journalists, ABVP and SFI student’s union leaders as a preventive measure.
