Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on his four-nation tour of Africa had reached Tanzania from South Africa on the third leg of his African tour. On his arrival he received a 21-gun salute from members of the uniformed forces before inspecting a guardof honour. But the highlight of the event was when the Prime Minister reached the State House, Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli's residence. Modi joined Magufuli to play traditional Tanzania drums at a colorful ceremony. "New beats to the India Africa rhythm! PM Narendra Modi and President John Magufuli play the drum," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.
Though half way through the drumming, Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli stopped playing the drums, but there was no stopping for our Prime Minister, who kept drumming and entertaining the crowd and the President then resumed the drumming again when he saw the Indian leader was in no mood to stop.Modi's skills as a drummer was for the first time displayed in Japan in September 2014 when he joined the Japanese percussionists to perform a 'jugalbandi' with them.
