On Friday, City Court granted bail to the Ex-TMC Minister, Madan Kumar, who is one of the lieutenants of the West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in the multi-Crore Shradha scam case. Niladri Battacharya, Mr. Mitra’s counsel said that, their argument had mainly three points, Mr. Mitra was no longer an influential person and that there was no material record after the supplementary charge sheet was filed in the year 2015. Also one cannot be kept in custody for an indefinite period, while there was no progress in the investigation. The case would again come up for hearing on 23rd of November and Mr. Mitra was considered an efficient organizer, a key fund raiser and vote mobiliser for the party, the counsel added.
