NDA government sacked union home secretary Anil Goswami for attempting to stop the arrest of Matang Singh, a former Union minister, who was accused in Saradha scam. He resigned after meeting the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on yesterday and gave way to L.C. Goyal, a 1979-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre to occupy his place. Home Minister may also sack two more officers of CBI, who are interrupting this investigation.
Last week, it sacks foreign secretary Sujatha Singh for her inefficient handling of significant meetings held between US President Barack Obama and Narendra Modi at USA in the last September. Centre has sent a very strong message to its bureaucrats that it will not tolerate inefficiency and indiscipline in the duties, whereas in the past UPA government encouraged them for indulging in odd practices and often used to rattle by the Supreme Court for it.
Anil Goswami (60) tenure was till June 30, but he stumped out in the last leg. L.C . Goyal had served in the home ministry as joint secretary (internal security) a few years ago.
