Bihar officials disregarded CM’s guidelines

People started getting displaced because of the recent floods and none of the guidelines that have been issued by the CM are being followed by the officials. A flood victim at Dumar relief camp said that, they had been provided nothing by the government. They were simply provided food and water in plastic plates and glasses. Even sarees had not been given to them.

After Kosi floods 2008, Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar issued clear guidelines with regard to the flood management as well as the relief camps.

The Chief Minister prepared standard procedures for providing relief to the victims. The guidelines, which are currently being disregarded by the officials, say that, the flood victims are to be provided food and water in steel plates and glasses respectively. A steel mug as well as a plastic cover must be given to the victims. Sarees and lungis must be provided to women and men respectively along with the towel.
