AP and Singapore signs MoU for Capital design

Andhra Pradesh and Singapore governments have signed an MoU at Hyderabad on yesterday for designing a world class capital city to the state. Singapore Co-operation Enterprises (SCE) that has vast experience in constructing most advanced cities in the world was given responsibility of providing design to the state capital. Representatives of AP Infrastructure Development and the SCE have signed a MoU in the presence of the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and the minister for Commerce of Singapore government Eeshwaran on yesterday.
Later speaking to the media, CM Chandrababu Naidu said “This project will be accomplished in G to G mode with the AP and Singapore government participation. We will constitute a high level committee that will be led by me and the Singapore Minister Eeshwaran. Another committee with officials of both governments will be formed to supervise the construction activities. Initially, works will begin in a radius of 8km in the proposed capital city. I am quite hopeful to complete the first phase of construction before next elections. I have briefed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this ambitious project and got his nod to go ahead with it. We also obtained permission from External Affairs Ministry before signing an agreement with a foreign government.”
Singapore Minister Eeshwaran said “We have great experience in town planning, land utilization, master plan designing, Industrial and IT parks development etc. We are happy to get this ambitious project. We will build a world class smart city for the AP state with our vast experience. I am sure this project will to strengthen the relations between the two countries. I promise that we will build the capital city in such a way that upholds and highlights the great culture of the AP state and won’t impose our culture on the proposed capital city.”
