Gulf returnees’ crisis is being ignored?

Pinyari Vijaya, the Chief Minister of Kerala condemned the Centre for neglecting the gulf returnees’ crisis, which affects the economy of the state and the remittances to India.

Mr. Vijayan said that, the crisis of gulf returnees would hit Kerala the most. The government had sent repeated reminder to the Centre for a rehabilitation package to help the retrenched workers and the Centre’s response left much to be desired. He added that, his government would take appropriate measures to address the situation.

Mr. Vijayan also announced a few initiatives on the occasion of Onam. One of the initiatives include a mega housing project that would benefit over two lakh homeless and landless families.
