The Story Of The Kukke Subramanya Temple

Its time for another story people. Are you ready for it? So, this story begins after war between Lord Shanmukha and demons Tharaka and Shurapadmasura, in which the former emerged victorious. After this victory, the Lord came back to the Kumara Parvatha along with his brother Lord Ganesha and others. On this special occasion, Indira welcomed him and offered his daughter Devasena’s hand in marriage. This divine marriage was conducted in the presence of Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and other Gods.

The speciality of this matrimonial union is that, the ceremony used water from seven holy rivers. This Mahabhisheka created a river called Kumaradhara. This story further extends to the story of the meditation of Vasuki or Nagaraja, Lord of Serpents in Biladwara, a devotee of Lord Shiva. On the orders of Lord Shiva, Shanmukha, appeared before Vasuki and promised to stay with his staunch devotee forever.

Since then, there have been millions of prayers offered here at the Kukke Subramanya temple. One special thing particular to this temple is, that male devotees cannot wear anything on their upper body. Pregnant women cannot visit the temple after the sixth month of their pregnancy. These are usually not part of the rules of any temple. So take darshan of the Lord at the Kukke Subramanya temple and stay blessed.
