Check out how this trend originated and picked up over the last few years.

Eye-ing back :

It was the Egyptian queen Cleopatra who was fascinated by smokey eye make up. Thanks to historians, we got to see wall paintings from the era depicting the beautiful queen with charcoal black eyes.

Smokin’ hot trend :

Considered feminine as well as seductive, it’s no wonder why this sexy eye make up trend has managed to garner so much attention in the world of glamour. The high point of this look was probably during the 50s and 60s when celebrities stood out with their dramatic eye make up at social dos.

Get the look :

Smokey eyes are not just restricted to celebrities on the red carpet. Now, you can give your beautiful eyes the gorgeous effect too with these easy steps.

Outline your eye contour with a black eye pencil all the way around. Make the line thicker along the upper lashes. Smudge it out a bit with your ring finger or Q tip.

With a brush, apply a dark colour eye shadow on the eyelid about halfway to the eyebrows, blending slightly.

Now encircle the entire area with a lighter shadow in a neutral tone for that perfect blended look.

To add more drama, complete the look by applying black mascara.

Tip: You can use any colour to create a smokey eye. However, you will need at least three shades of a similar hue.
