The India International Jewellery (IIJW) Week
The India International Jewellery (IIJW) Week, organized by the Gem and Jewellery Promotion Council (GJEPC) was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Govt. Of India along with IIJW Brand Ambassador, Sonam Kapoor at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
It was Asia's first Jewellery Week aimed at re-enforcing India's position as the Global leader in Jewellery Design. IIJW will see many glamorous models, high profile Indian celebrities and much sought after International celebrities sashay on the ramp displaying the designs of 35 designers/design houses. Traditionally, India's legacy for ornate jewellery has been known for thousands of years. However, it is only in the recent past that our designs have gained acceptance owing to their aesthetic blend of heritage design entwined with contemporary sensibilities according India a rightful place as a leader in design in the world markets.
IIJW 2011 will be spread across 5 days with first four days showcasing collections from Designers and Design Houses, with 5th day culminating into a grand finale showcasing best of best of all participants of the Week.
