Trinamool to move resolution against FDI

Trinamool Congress will move a resolution in the next session of Parliament opposing foreign direct investment in multi brand retail, senior party leaders said here on Saturday. The matter was discussed at a meeting the leaders had with party chairperson Mamata Banerjee at the State Secretariat in Kolkata. Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav remained non committal on whether his party would support the Trinamool resolution or not. The party also decided to organise protests in the State and in New Delhi. Ever since the Trinamool announced its decision to withdraw support to the United Progressive Alliance government, Banerjee has been campaigning on the issue.

21 killed in Sikkim flash floods

Twenty one bodies, including those of Indo Tibetan Border Police and Border Roads Organisation personnel, have so far been found while eight persons are missing due to flash flood and landslides in remote areas of North Sikkim. The dead include four from the ITBP, two of their family members, and 12 junior officers from the BRO. Other victims were casual labourers. Most of the casualties were reported from Rangma range. Landslides were caused by heavy rains since September 19. About nine landslides occurred blocking the main road between Chungthang and Mangan in the district. Army and IAF personnel have started rescue operations in full swing. Several landslides blocked main roads between Chungthang and Pegong. Houses between Rangma and Chungthang were washed away in flash floods along Lachen river. The state government has declared a state of alert along the establishments on the river banks right from Lachen, Lachung, Chungthang, Mangan, Dikchu, Singtam and Rangpo.

Two killed in Mathura stampede

Two pilgrims were killed and over half a dozen injured in a stampede at the Radha Rani temple in Barsana on Sunday morning. The District Administration denied that a stampede had taken place and said two women had died of heart attack and suffocation. Eye-witnesses claim that a stampede took place during prayers on the occasion of Radha Ashtami when the crowd was passing through the exit gate. The injured were rushed to private doctors.

Egypt president stresses Syria resolve

Egypt’s president stressed the need for his country to have a bigger role in international affairs, he  urged the Syrian government to end the carnage coursing through Cairo’s onetime ally. He  addressed a range of issues facing the new president, who was sworn into office on June 30 in the country’s first free presidential elections. He assumed the post after a rocky transitional period governed by the country’s military, which took power after last year’s uprising that ousted longtime President Hosni Mubarak. Egypt’s uprising inspired others in the region, including Syria. Syria’s bloody 18-month conflict, which activists say has killed nearly 30,000 people, has so far eluded attempts at international mediation. Morsy, who is scheduled to travel Sunday to New York for the UN meetings, has been criticised by some in Egypt for focusing too much on foreign affairs and doing little to address Egypt’s internal challenges.

Ahmadinejad bid to win hearts and minds

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has left for the US.to pursue a crowded agenda that focuses on connecting with mainstream Americans including those who are part of the Occupy Wall Street movement. For a seventh successive year, the Iranian President will address the General Assembly session, which commences on September 25. Ahmadinejad will also represent the 120 nation Non Aligned Movement as its rotating President. But apart from rubbing shoulders with world leaders, Ahmadinejad has public diplomacy prominently in his sights. Not only would he meet activists of the Occupy Wall Street movement, he will also engage with American university students, artists and intellectuals. The visit began with the customary friction with US  authorities. Two Ministers, Esfandiar Rahim Mashayee, President’s chief of staff, and 17 others were denied visa, Iranian media reported. The delegation, guarded by 150 security personnel, will stay in Manhattan’s Warwick hotel.

Barfi India's Official Entry to the Oscars

Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana starrer Barfi has been selected as India’s official entry for Oscars next year. In a press conference held a little while ago in Hyderabad, Manju Bora, the chariperson of the jury which nominated Barfi, said, “After watching 20 films from various languages, we have chosen Barfi as the official entry to Oscars from India. We believe that it represents Indian cinema and Indian culture in the right sense” Directed by Anurag Basu, the film is the story of a mute and deaf guy, a role which earned Ranbir Kapoor outstanding reviews. Priyanka Chopra played a role who suffers from autism and Ileana played the role of a Bengali women who’s smitten by Ranbir Kapoor’s charm..

S.Korean Bridge Collapse, 2dead 12injured

  S.Korean Bridge Collapse: TWO South Korean workers were killed and 12 others injured today when the bridge they were building in the northern city of Paju collapsed. A 55 meter long section of the 539 meter long bridge over the Imjin River collapsed, causing the workers to fall 15 meters down onto gravel and muddy ground. Most of the injured were listed as being in serious conditions in nearby hospitals. Police were investigating whether there was any breach of safety regulations.

Salma Hayek Reveals Secret Behind her Flawless Skin

  Hollywood siren Salma Hayek has revealed that she achieves her skin perfection by never washing her face when she wakes up in the morning. The 46-years-old actor looks much younger than her age, and she attributes her less than hygienic regime as the secret behind her youthful look. "One strange tip - don't wash it in the morning, at all, never, "Because at night your skin is rebuilding some of the oils that you need to keep your skin young, and it balances the PH. "So in the morning if you take them off - you can splash it with water, do something mild - but you don't want to get rid of that. And if your skin is dirty in the morning, it means you didn't clean well at night," she added.

At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days. "This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, but I'm sure this weekend in Las Vegas will be spectacular and I will be closely following everything that happens there!"   Salma Hayek Oliver Stone : She's a stunning Mexican actress with killer curves that most men wouldn't fail to notice. But it would seem Oliver Stone's admiration for Salma Hayek's assets went a step too far at the photocall for their new movie Savages on Wednesday afternoon. The Oscar-winning director appeared to get a tad too touchy-feely as the pair posed up on the red carpet at London's Mandarin Oriental hotel.     While the 46-year-old actress seemed to be laughing off the unwanted attention she was receiving from the film boss, there was more than a hint of awkwardness behind her smile. The legendary director, who has been married to wife Sun-jung Jung since 1997, seemed totally enamoured by the Hollywood star.  

Distance between Annaa and Kejriwal?

Anna Hazare on Sunday said politics will not deliver a better future to the people and asked those planning to join his anti-corruption movement to contact him in Ralegan Siddhi. Near and dear to annaa are saying that this is an apparent sign that he is distancing himself from Arvind Kejriwal-led group’s political foray. Till now, the Hazare-led movement was headquartered in Delhi and run under the banner of India Against Corruption, a non-registered body perceived to be controlled by Kejriwal. This is the second time in the past three days that Mr. Hazare commented on the issue anti-corruption movement taking a political turn. The first was in a video shot by those opposed to the political course taken by a section of the erstwhile Team Anna. The latest is in his blog post. The remarks are significant as Hazare publicised the address of Brashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan in Ralegan Siddhi as his contact point for those who want to associate with his movement.

Mamata fired on Government against Petro price hike

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said her party may have to take some hard decisions at its meeting on Tuesday if there is no rollback of the measures announced by the Centre in the last few days  hike in diesel price, a cap on supply of domestic LPG cylinders and the decision to allow FDI in multi brand retail. In a democratic set-up, reforms must reach the poor and the common people. Reforms did not mean selling out everything to satisfy some sections, she said on Saturday, reaching out to people through the social networking platform and also by hitting the streets for the second time this year against the Centre’s decisions. Addressing a gathering after a two-km protest march here, Banerjee said she believed in the stability of government and had put up with decisions imposed on her party. Am I supposed to be a mute spectator?” she asked, adding the Centre had to share the concerns of allies. Dismissing the option given by the Centre on FDI in multi brand retail, it is for the State governments to decide whether or not to allow FDI funded stores. Banerjee said no one was fool enough to believe that there could be alternative approaches to a single policy. Demanding that people be given at least 24 subsided LPG cylinders Mamata said the States, and not the Centre, generated the revenues for funding subsidies.

Deccan Chargers Auction, BCCI Rejects Rs 900 Crore bid by PVP

Deccan Chargers PVP Ventures: Deccan Chargers remained unsold in an auction on Thursday after the cricket board rejected an offer from the sole bidder PVP Ventures. The Board of Control for Cricket in India turned down an offer from PVP Ventures, whose business interests include finance, entertainment, real estate and power generation. The apparent reason for the rejection is that the lenders to Deccan Chronicle Holdings, which owns the Twenty20 cricket side, were not satisfied with the amount offered. It was not possible to immediately ascertain how much PVP Ventures bid. Deccan Chronicle, which owes some Rs 5,000 crore to lenders, put the Hyderabad-based team on the block to stave off bankruptcy. It has defaulted on loans, had its rating downgraded to junk status and its accounts are being forensically audited to check for potential wrongdoing.

Telugu professor set Guinness Record in Psychology

A Mahabubnagar based Counselling Psychologist, Mr.Srinivasa Chary Vangeepuram has set a new Guinness World Record by teaching 1,436 participants the “Largest Psychology Lesson”. With this, he secured all the required eligibility to be the first Guinness Record holder in the entire world in the field of Psychology. Srinivasa Chary has chosen the Teachers’ Day the 5th September for setting this Guinness Record. Triple Guinness World Record holder, Dr.V.Sreenathachary organized this event at 10.01 AM at JMJ Fatima Vidyalayam, Mahabubnagar. Minister Erasu to play the role of CM

Admirers of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy are all set to launch a movie on their leader. Buzz says, Posani Krishna Murali will be directing this political back drop movie with Jagapathi Babu in the lead role and minister E Pratap Reddy will be portraying the role of Kiran Kumar Reddy. It has been rumored that Kota Srinivasa Rao and Babu Mohan will be portraying the roles of key ministers in the cabinet while Jagapathi Babu will be playing the role which resembles CBI joint director JD Laxmi Narayana.

Pune college grads line up for jobs as bus conductors

Most of the Pune college graduates are now appliying for bus conductor jobs due to heavy unemployment reason. Though they know exactly what sort of career they want, many graduates are now satisfied with these sort of public sector jobs for life security reasons. More than 5000 other graduates, many of who are in line with him at a municipal transport office in Pune, waiting to be interviewed. The city council is not looking for permanent employees so the 1600 jobs on offer come with Rs. 423 for a day's work with an allowance of Rs. 20 for meals. Bus conductors in the city are required to have passed Class 10. They are giving first priority to graduates and post graduates, so that they can handle passengers well and be like the face of the organization.1450 women also have applied for jobs as bus conductors.
