Pak should thank Indian Army says Singer Adnan Sami

Singer Adnan Sami, who is originally from Pakistan, but got an Indian citizenship this year, thinks Pakistan should thank India for “a brilliant, successful, mature and strategic strike against terrorism in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir, last week.” The singer has been making news for his pro-Indian statements on different occasions. If your host has extended you a warm welcome, and suddenly a fire breaks out in (his) house, do you just run away? I feel they should have condemned the attack,” Adnan said at an event pointing out that he too had condemned the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. He had also tweeted congratulating the Indian Army after the successful operation. Talking about it, he said, “My tweets were against a common enemy. An enemy that has been hurting both the nations and the rest of the world, too. If anything, Pakistan should thank India for finishing the terrorists.” Elaborating further, he added, “For years, Pakistan has been saying that they too are victims of terrorism. Here, when your neighbour is helping you out, you don’t want to even acknowledge it.”

BJP slams Kejriwal for 'surgical strike' comments

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a video message on Monday had praised the Narendra Modi government and the Indian Army for the surgical strikes. BJP on Tuesday slammed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader P Chidambaram for demanding proof on Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control to destroy terror launch pads. "I want to ask Arvind Kejriwal whether he believes in the extraordinary valour of our Army or not in conducting surgical strikes," Union minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a press briefing. Prasad said Kejriwal is "now making headlines in Pakistan" for his doubts over Indian Army's operation in which 50 suspected terrorists were gunned down. "Kejriwal must not mix politics with national security," he said. Also he hit out at former Home Minister P Chidambaram, Prasad said: “Is he also joining the bandwagon of those doubting capacity of our soldiers in conducting the surgical strikes.”

Loan EMI to fall as RBI cuts interest rate

The Reserve bank of India has reduced the key policy rate or the repo rate by 25 bps to 6.25 per cent in the fourth bimonthly policy review announced on Tuesday. Retail inflation eased to a five-month low of 5.05% in August, within the committee’s 2-6% objective, and is expected to ease further in the months ahead after a good monsoon has sent food prices sharply lower. The 6-member Monetary Policy Committee, headed by Patel , reduced repo rate or the short term rate at which central bank lends to banks, to 6.25 per cent. Consequently, the reverse repo rate has also come down by a similar percentage point to 5.75 per cent. This is Patel’s first policy review after taking over from Raghuram Rajan on September 6. With Tuesday’s cut, the repo rate is now at its lowest level since November 2010. The RBI said all six members voted in favour of the rate cut, but did not give a breakdown. Daily prices of sensitive items under pulses, fruits, vegetables and cereals suggest that the seasonal surge in food prices may have peaked in July, it said.

New Zealand Cricket, however, had not received any communication from the BCCI regarding the cancellation of the remaining fixtures, and the team was said to be preparing for the third Test in Indore as planned. India reclaim No.1 Test team ranking from Pak

India have displaced Pakistan as the No. 1-ranked Test team following their 178-run win against New Zealand in the second Test in Kolkata. India had earlier topped the Test rankings when they won a four – match series against West Indies 2-0 but Pakistan’s draw against England in a four-match series was enough for them to overtake India. India took the attack to the opposition on Day 4 to dismiss New Zealand for a total of 197 giving India a win by 178 runs. This was enough for India to overtake arch-rivals Pakistan in the rankings. India should ensure that they win or at least manage a draw in the third and final Test in Indore to hold onto the top spot. India and New Zealand now play their third and final Test in Indore. Following the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand, India resume their Test season when they host England in November. India will hold onto the numero uno spot when the ICC announces its updated ratings, irrespective of how the Indore Test pans out.
