Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed his dissatisfaction about the TRAI’s decision favouring net neutrality. Yesterday, TRAI has ruled out against the Free basics campaign offered by Facebook along with its telecom partner Relaince. TRAI has clearly stated that different prices cannot be charged for different services. “While we’re disappointed with today’s decision, I want to personally communicate that we are committed to keep working to break down barriers to connectivity in India and around the world. Internet.org has many initiatives, and we will keep working until everyone has access to the internet,” said Zukerberg reacting to the decision of TRAI. The decision of Facebook to introduce its websites at free of cost is seen as a ploy to gain control over the internet. So when TRAI has requested the public to express their opinion on differential price system, Facebook has spent huge time and amount to influence the public opinion towards the Free basics. Now as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has made its final decision, it would be interesting to follow the next step by the Facebook to regain its hold.
