CM Babu throws wrench in YSR Dharna plans?

YSR Congress party that has been trying to politicize the crop loans waiver issue and desperately trying to corner ruling TDP government has prepared to conduct statewide dharnas on this issue tomorrow. Its president Jagan Mohan Reddy will participate in maha-dharna to be conducted by party at Vizag. So, YSR party has been making elaborate arrangements to make these dharna programs a grand success. It is putting lot of efforts for mobilizing the people from the surrounding districts.

However, the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu simply throws wrench in its plans. He announced the modalities for the crop loans waiver and its schedule today that is hardly hours before YSR party’s dharnas.

Obviously, it left YSR party disgruntled as it can’t blame the CM or his government for failing to keep the elections promises. At the same time, it can’t call off its dharna programs at this moment. It may also find very difficult to mobilize the people, especially farmers to its dharnas as they may tilt towards the state government now for waiving off their crop loans. If there is no response to its dharnas, it will be very shameful to party and to its president Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Moreover, YSR party has to find some nice excuse to conduct its dharnas and a strong reason to strengthen its arguments on this particular issue. It has to change its strategy to make its dharnas grand success otherwise people will laugh at it for staging dharnas even when the state government is clearing the crop loans. It would be very difficult to chalk out some alternative idea and strategy at this moment.

Probably, YSR Congress party might have foreseen this embarrassing situation. So is it is claiming that it has forced the TDP government to make an official announcement on crop loans waiver by announcing its dharna plans.

But, if seen its present situation it is to be understood that it is crying foul for the timing of Chandrababu Naidu announcement. Since, it can’t go back at this stage it owes to continue its fight with the state government till it implements all its elections promises. Indeed it is a good excuse to defend itself, but not enough to stage dharnas tomorrow. It also has to ensure there is overwhelming response to its dharnas otherwise it's plans will backfires at it again as usually.
