No honking in Hyderabad?

While we step on the roads of Hyderabad, It’s hard to believe them to be quiet. Our ears would certainly get busy with all those honks. Unlike many countries, India does not have any rules to penalize rude honking. Drivers feel free to horn forever. Such a honking is not just rude. It contributes largely to the sound pollution. Most of the junctions in Hyderabad deliver sounds that exceed well over 100 decibels. For the record, any sound that that exceeds 85 decibels is supposed to cause permanent damage to the ears.
Now! The Young Indians (Yi) society has taken up the cause of bringing awareness against honking. Though the society has taken up the cause in many cities in India, it was their first trial in Hyderabad. The society wish to promote ‘Horn Not OK Day (HNOD)’, starting every Tuesday from January 12th. This campaign would involve in creating awareness against unnecessary honking.
