Women to drive fighter planes in India

It’s probably one of the sweetest news we have heard on this women’s day. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha has declared that women can hereby enter the arena of running the fighter planes. Though the Indian army has women in its pay rolls, the jobs for the women are restricted to few fields. Most of them work in non combat areas. But now, three women are going to run the fighter planes from this June.
After the go ahead given by the defense minister as well as the president of India, the Indian Airforce has trained these three women who have volunteered themselves for the role. India though boasts of giving equal opportunities to women, has never taken a lead to induce women into armed forms. That was the reason why only 2.5 percent of our armed forces consists of women employees. But now... we can probably expect things to get better.
