Secretariat, Chest, Mental dieses Hospitals, Shifting, AP government, A major hurdle in shifting of Chest and Mental dieses hospitals from Erragadda to Vikarabad was removed as the high court dismisses the petitions today filed by the BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy challenging the Telangana government’s decision. The high court has stated that there is no legal complication involved in the state government’s decision. It is free to shift the hospitals to wherever it think is appropriate for it. The court expressing its views on shifting of the hospital has stated it is ideal to shift the hospitals to peaceful location outside the city. Hence, Telangana government can go ahead with its shifting plans of the two hospitals from Erragadda to Vikarabad immediately. However, Telangana government also has to take Governor Narasimhan’s permission for shifting or demolishing of the offices and buildings as he is the care-taker of Hyderabad city for the next 9.5 years.
It may also find some complications if insist the AP government operating from the Secretariat complex to some other place, as it is allowed to run the state from there for the next 9.5 years. However, if Chandrababu Naidu shifts his government to the temporary capital to be built at Amaravati before end of June month, a fresh fight between the AP and Telangana governments over ownership rights of the Secretariat building can be averted.
