Telangana Employees to Strike From 1 August

Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee met today (13-07-11) and decided to go on a mass strike from 1 August. TEJAC comprises of 86 employee organizations and has been actively participating in Telangana agitation from several decades. One of the main grievances of Telangana people is the injustice done to locals in government recruitments.
This move by employee JAC is set to bring administration to a standstill and cripple the state. The employees unions who have participated in today's meeting include non-gazetted and gazetted employees from Revenue, Commercial Tax, Irrigation and Secretariat. Employees of public sector undertakings like Road Transport Corporation, Electricity Transmission and Generation Corporations. Several Teachers unions have also participated in today's meeting. Singareni Collieries workers unions also have announced that they would go on a strike from August 8th if the central government fails to announce a Telangana state.
