Supreme Court has given a significant verdict on yesterday in a case against juvenile terrorist Md. Moin Faridulla Qureshi, who was involved 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. Upholding the TADA court’s judgment of life term given to accused, Supreme Court stated that a terrorist can’t be spared from the law of the land even if he is a juvenile. The bench comprising Justices P Sathasivam and BS Chauhan has said that the juvenile laws of the land can’t immune the terrorists and the accused in heinous crimes like Nirbhaya.
“The 17 years and 3 months old Md.Qureshi, who took terrorist training, planted bombs in the vehicles and thrown grenades on the crowds in Mumbai city can’t be considered as innocent because he is juvenile. Terrorists can’t be classified as minors and majors. Juvenile laws can’t be allowed to override the TADA provisions,” said Justices P Sathasivam and BS Chauhan in their judgment given yesterday. Supreme Court’s verdict in Md.Qureshi’s case, which asserted severe punishments to juveniles may be applied to the prime accused in ‘Nirbhaya’ case, who is also a juvenile and enjoying the immune of juvenile laws of the country.
