Sri Lanka, which is now become an epicenter for political storm in India has condemned the draft prepared against it by USA to be submitted in the forth coming United Nations Human Rights Council meeting at Geneva. Mahinda Samara Singhe, the Sri Lankan Governments ambassador of human rights commission to UN has said that, any such move by US will leads to nowhere except encouraging the separatists in the country.
He said US is trying to isolate his country based upon the reports given to it by Navaneetam Pillai, the high commissioner of HRC. He blames him for adopting American ideology to defame Sri Lanka among the other nations. He flayed him for not taking the ground realities into consideration before preparing the draft. Hence, Mahinda has appealed the fellow member countries in the HRC to oppose the US draft to be served against it in the forthcoming council meeting.
Despite the prevailing uncertainty, Indian Government couldn’t make-up its mind on how to react to DMK and AIADMK parties’ demands to vote against Sri Lanka in this upcoming meeting. If, UPA regains full support from other sources, it may desist from voting against Sri Lanka, keeping in view of the trade affairs with it.
