Chinese troop consisting 50 army personals have entered into Depsang Valley, which falls into Indian Territory on April 15th and made a camp there. However, the Indo Tibetan Boarder Police (ITBF) guarding the zone, initially thought that it was yet another incursion due to different perception of the Line of Control (LoC) either side and raises the banner as a common practice to warn their counter parts about the incursion. However, the Chinese troops have shown no indication of retreating, instead they makes a night camp also. Hence, the ITBF also forced to deploy matching troops on the opposite side. Later, a flag meeting has been held between the local commanders from both sides on April 18th but fails to come to consensus. External Affairs Ministry has asked its Chinese counterpart to revert its troops, but shocked to hear refusal from other end.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying reiterating their stand has said “I want to reiterate here that the Chinese border troops have been acting in strict compliance with the bilateral agreements and conducting normal patrol on the Chinese side of the LoC. They have never crossed the line.” She further states both sides have opened the communication channels to discuss the issue though the consultation mechanisms on boundary issue and asked India to abide by consensus in the interest of both countries. India, yet to respond to her suggestions
