Should sitting scare us?

Sitting for most of the day is bad for your health, but many of us sit nearly all day everyday. So, reduce your risk of sitting diseases and simply stand up for your health.
With the advent of TV, computers, and the desk job, we are sitting down more than we sleep! Our bodies weren’t built for that, and it’s starting to show it’s after effects on us.
In short sitting just wrecks your body:
People with sitting jobs have twice the rate of cardiovascular diseases as compared to standing jobs
As soon as we sit the Electrical activity in leg muscles shuts off!
As we know even while sleeping calories are burnt. While sitting the calorie burning ability of the body drop to 1calorie per minute. Moreover, while sitting no energy is utilized.
Just as we sit down the enzymes that help in break down of fat drop by 90% of their potency
After 2 hours of sitting Good cholesterol drops by 20%
And after 24 hours Insulin effectiveness drops by 24% and the risk of diabetes rises remarkably
People who sit down to watch TV for 3 or more hours are 64% more prone to die from heart diseases. Each extra hour of watching TV increases death risks by 11%
This is called Sitting Disease, daily exercise is not enough to counteract excessive sitting.
One of the obvious results of sitting is obesity. Sitting is also cited as the key risk factor in Heart disease, Stroke, Diabetes and some Cancers. It is linked to early mortality rates.
Researches show that if people sat 3 hours less a day, it would add 2 years to the average life expectancy.
So make as many excuses possible just to move from your sedentary seat!
