Railway University: Excellent Idea It is really interesting to hear Railway Minister Sadananda Gouda announcing to launch Railway University. Indian Railways being one of the largest transport system in the world would have thought about this idea long ago, as it need different kind of technical skills, knowledge, special training etc. for a smooth and efficient management of the system. Though the idea comes half a century late, indeed NDA government deserve patting for it.
There are lakhs of employees both technical and non-technical working in the Indian Railways. However, they get necessary training only after joining in the job, which is costing Railways very dearly. If, there are specific universities to meet the growing needs of Indian Railways, it not ease the financial burden on Railways but also enable it to get highly skilled manpower. So, the Railway University idea of Sadananda Gouda indeed deserves patting.
