Rahul Gandhi to do 25 day roadshow to cover UP

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will undertake an extensive road show from eastern Uttar Pradesh to the western region early in September to score support for Congress in the upcoming elections. According to reports Rahul will lead his roadshow, possibly in a small bus, and would address small gatherings on the way. Besides conveying that Congress is going into the battle with a serious intent, the strategists feel the road show would also activate the workers on the ground. Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who had earlier started an impressive roadshow in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi had to leave midway due to high fever, returned to the national capital. She has been recuperating from it.

The party has declared Shiela Dikshit as the chief ministerial candidate for the UP assembly polls. Rahul's yatra would come in the thick of two other 'yatras' led by Raj Babbar and Sheila Dikshit which rolled out on August 21, and seek to compound their political effect. Babbar and Dikshit are to cover 66 districts over one and half months. The campaign plan in terms of route and date of launch is being given a final shape. The road show will commence from Deoria and will culminate in Meerut after touching 42 districts. The roadshow will be approximately 25-days long.
