Soon after the withdrawal process of nominations of Panchayat elections were over yesterday evening, the list of Sarpanches those unanimously elected in 2581 Panchayats were also announced. Out of the 2581 Panchayats across the state, Congress has bagged 764, TDP-548, YSRCP-428, TRS-87, Others-754.
Interestingly, Congress has won only 61 in CM’s native district Chittoor, where as TDP has won 99 and YSRCP bagged 75 Sarpanch posts. TDP shown its grip over Visakha, East Godavari, Guntur and Prakasham districts. Congress and TDP have almost equal share at Krishna, Kammam, West Godavari and Nellore districts, which is an alarming position for TDP as it believes these areas are its strong hold areas. As predicted YSRCP has shown domination in Kadapa district by winning 80 out of 155 leaving only 33 for Congress and 22 for TDP. TRS has fared very badly by standing in the fourth place with just 87 Panchayats to its credit out of 650 seats declared unanimous in Telangana region.
Congress has shown a clear upper hand over TRS, followed by TDP in the Telangana region. The interesting development is that independents have won 754 seats which is an equal number of Congress seats. Since, this will not reflect the people’s verdict, the actual position of the parties will be known only after completing the election process.
