New Zealand’s flag to be changed!

Have you ever heard about the flag of a nation being changed? Here it is! A referendum is being held in New Zealand to decide a change in its flag. The present flag represents New Zealand as a British colony and that’s the reason many want to change it. A new flag was designed to be an alternative for the old one. This new flag consists of a Silver fern, along with four stars with blue colour in background. These four stars were known to represent the Southern Cross constellation. And the silver fern resembles a fern tree that’s popular in New Zealand.
But, where there is a change, there would certainly be a controversy! It seems that many people in New Zealand were not interested in the flag change. Most of the opinion polls show that this referendum might end in favour of old flag. Many New Zealanders were not just opposing the change, but few think that the new design is not good. Many criticised that the design is much worse than that of a towel. Undeterred by the public rage, Prime Minister John Key went forward to conduct the referendum that’s worth just 17 million dollars.
