Maharashtra: To control, identify as well as monitor traffic the government of Maharashtra is considering drones. Deepak Kesarkar, minister of state for home said, “Initially drones will be put in place on a pilot basis on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, which has become a death trap with large number of casualties reported lately”. He added that, mostly heavy loaded trucks jump lanes to overtake other vehicles which cause a traffic jam and the drones would click photos of such instances, so that the transport department could take possible action against such drivers. He also noted that, four to five drones would be hired for the expressway from the private companies and based on the result, the home department would consider using drones across the city of Mumbai.
