Ex chief secretary spoke about Mopidevi

“Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, the then minister for infrastructure, investments and ports, took more than keen interest in the Vanpic project”, former chief secretary A Raghottama Rao told the CBI. The CBI has recorded the former chief secretary's statement as a witness in the case. Mopidevi signed the Vanpic file on March 11, 2008, and entered into a MoU with the Vanpic representatives the same day and obtained the approval of the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy the following day for the deal. Going a step further, Mopidevi had made the notings on the file "For the purpose of viability of the projection, no need to modify Article 2 of the MoU. Discussed with principal secretary to CM. We may sign the MoU today and send the file to CM for post facto approval", the former CS said. The CM issued post facto approval on March 12, 2008. CBI charged the accused Mopidevi and others with making such unofficial changes without the approval of cabinet.
