Rajya Sabha unhappy about Mithun’s absence

Gaining a seat in parliament is no smaller issue. While it takes years of hardship and fierce competition for the normal people, celebrities enjoy the seat just for being a celebrity. Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty is not an exception to this. Mithun has been nominated by the Trinamool congress into Rajya Sabha, but he hasn’t ever cared to be in House. Mithun’s attendance is mere 10% in the house. He has not participated in any debate, nor has asked any question or moved a bill. But Mithun has been prompt in sending leave letters stating that he is sick. Some members in Rajya Sabha has today condemned the laxity of this star.
They pointed out that while such celebrities have been actively working in their field, they have been insulting the house by getting absent. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agrawal and Janata Dal-United leader K.C. Tyagi were among the ones who strongly objected to the behaviour of Mithun. Tyagi appealed to the political parties that a code of conduct should be followed, that members sent by them should be capable of participating in the proceedings. However, Mithun was not just the first person to face such criticism from the members. Earlier celebrities such as Sachin Tendlkar, Rekha too faced the heat for taking the sessions of Rajya Sabha in lighter tone.
