Maoists killed former sarpanch and market yard director Sagina Venkata Ramana of Jerrela village in GK Veedhi mandal in Visakha agency area on Wednesday morning. They allege that he passed a resolution in Panchayat meeting allowing Bauxite mining in Visakha Agency area that paves way for issuing a G.O. No: 97 by the state government two months ago. But, Jerrela village Panchayat members are stating that no such resolution was passed.
Two days ago, Maoists also killed a tribal Shivaiah of Sariyapalli village in Manchagiputtu Mandal alleging that he was a police informer. Earlier, few months ago, they have kidnapped four TDP leaders from the same area demanding the state government to withdraw the GO issued for Bauxite mining. However, then they let them go free after warning to quit their posts in protest against the government’s decision. One of them, M Manikumari quits the party succumbing to their pressures.
Then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu holds back the GO and also assured that government will not go ahead with its decision unless the tribal agrees for it. But, Maoists killed TDP leader and former sarpanch, probably for some other reasons. Police have registered cases and starts combing operations in the agency area.
