On 5th of September, A Badarrudin, the Judge of the Special Court ordered a quick verification against KM Mani on the corruption charges with regard to complaint of the mass marriage ceremony that was conducted by his party in the month of October, 2014. The complaint stated that, 150 couples were married at the function and were given five sovereigns of gold ornaments as well as Rs 1.5 lakh cash during the time of the marriage. KM Mani had organized the function as a part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations. Due to the differences between the congress party and KM Mani over the bar scam issue, the ex-Finance Minster of the state left UDF recently.
