PANAJI: On Friday, Manohar Parrikar, the Defense Minister said, “The deployment of troops in Jammu and Kashmir is meant for foiling infiltration bids and it has nothing to do with the protest in the Kashmir valley, which started after killing militant Burhan Wani on July 8th in an encounter”.
Army doesn’t act in internal matters unless requested by the local administration. Their mandate was to seal the border and foil the infiltration bids by the terrorists, he said. Parrikar responded to a question and said that, India was taking necessary precautions in aftermath of the Scorpene submarine data leak episode, adding “The leak didn’t occur in an Indian Naval area but on the side of the French company which is a partner in the submarine project”.
