UPA forms GoM to make CBI free

Supreme Court has rapped the UPA government and the CBI for playing foul games with it over coal gate scam. It ordered the government to take necessary steps to free the CBI from the government’s grip to enable it conduct a free and fair investigation. It also warned the government that if it fails to come-up with a firm proposals before July 8th, it will be obliged to take initiative to free the CBI from government’s firm grip.
Following the apex court’s orders the UPA government has formed Group of Ministers (GoM) to prepare a draft for taking corrective measures in this regard. This GoM headed by Finance Minister P.Chidambaram will have Salman Kurshid (External minister), Kapil Sibal (Law minister), Manish Tiwari (I &B Minister) and V.Narayana Swamy (MoS of personnel) as members. Besides, CBI director Ranjit Sinha, who was rapped by Supreme Court will also assist the GoM in preparing the draft.
