Earthquake in northeastern states

A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude on Richter scale was felt in north eastern parts of India on Monday 4.37 am. It lasts for one minute. The epicenter was at Noney village in Tamenglong that is 35 kms from Imphal. According to latest inputs at least four people were killed and more than 100 people injured in Manipur state along.
Tremors spread to Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand states and in Myanmar also. However no loss of life or properties reported in other states. Imphal city is reportedly badly affected with this massive earthquake. NDRF teams were sent to Imphal for rescue and relief operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “Just spoke to Rajnath ji, who is in Assam, on the situation arising due to the earthquake & asked him to oversee the situation.”
